sīlan tavo visuddhan dansaṇasuddhī ya ṇāṇ suddhīya.
sīlan visayāṇ arī sīlan mokkhassa sovāṇan.. 20..
shīlan tapaḥ vishuddha darshanashuddhishcha gnān shuddhishcha.
shīlan viṣhayāṇāmariḥ shīlan mokṣhasya sopānam.. 20..

arthaḥ––shīl hī vishuddha nirmal tap hai, shīl hī darshan kī shuddhatā hai, shīl hī gnān kī shuddhatā hai, shīl hī viṣhayoṅkā shatru hai aur shīl hī mokṣha kī sīrḥī hai. bhāvārthaḥ––jīv ajīv padārthon kā gnān karake usamen se mithyātva aur kaṣhāyon kā abhāv karān vah sushīl hai, yah ātmā kā gnān svabhāv hai vah sansār prakr̥iti miṭakar mokṣha sanmukh prakr̥iti ho to tab is shīl hī ke tap ādik sab nām hain–––nirmal tap, shuddha darshan gnān, viṣhay – kaṣhāyon kā meṭanā, mokṣha kī sīrḥī ye sab shīl ke nām ke artha hain, aise shīl ke mahātmya kā varṇan kiyā hai aur yah keval mahimā hī nahīn hai in sab bhāvon ke avinābhāvīpanā batāyā hai.. 20.. āge kahate hain ki viṣhayarūp viṣh mahā prabal haiḥ–––

jah visayaluddha visado tah thāvarajaṅgamāṇ ghorāṇan.
savvesin piviṇāsadi visayavisan dāruṇan hoī.. 21..
yathā viṣhay lubdhaḥ viṣhadaḥ tathā sthāvar jaṅgamān ghorān.
sarvān api vināshayati viṣhayavisan dāruṇan bhavati.. 21..

arthaḥ––jaise viṣhay sevanarūpī viṣh viṣhay–lubdha jīvon ko viṣh denevālā hai, vaise hī ghor taevra sthāvar–jaṅgam sab hī viṣh prāṇiyon kā vināsh karate hain tathāpi in sab viṣhon men viṣhayon kā viṣh utkr̥uṣhṭa hai tīvra hai. bhāvārthaḥ––jaise hastī mīn bhramar pataṅg ādi jīv viṣhayon men lubdha hokar viṣhayon ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

chhe shīl te tap shuddha, te drag shuddhi, gnānavishuddhi chhe,
chhe shīl ari viṣhayo taṇo ne shīl shīv sopān chhe. 20.

viṣh ghor jaṅgam–sthāvaronun naṣhṭa karatun sarvane,
paṇ viṣhayalubdhataṇun vighātak viṣhayaviṣh ati raudra chhe. 21.

ke viṣh ho naṣhṭa hote hain vaise hī sthāvar viṣh moharā, somal ādik aur jaṅgam kā viṣh sarpa, ghoharā ādik kā–––in viṣhon se bhī prāṇī māre jāte hain, parantu sab viṣhon men viṣhayon kā viṣh ati hī tīvra hai.. 21.. āge isī kā samarthan karane ke liye viṣhayon ke viṣhakā tīvrapanā kahate hain ki––viṣhakī vedanā se to ekabār maratā hai aur viṣhayon se sansār men bhramaṇ karatā haiḥ–––

vāri ekkammi ya jamme marijja visaveyaṇāhado jīvo.
visayavisaparihayā ṇan bhamanti sansārakantāre.. 22..
vāre ekasmin janmani gachchhet viṣhavedanāhataḥ jīvaḥ.
viṣhayaviṣhaparihatā bhramanti sansārakāntāre.. 22..

arthaḥ––viṣh kī vedanā se naṣhṭa jīv to ek janma men hī maratā hai parantu viṣhayarūp viṣhase naṣhṭa jīv atishayatayā – bārabār sansārarūpī van men bhramaṇ karate haĩn. (puṇya kī aur rāg kī ruchi vahī viṣhay buddhi hai.) bhāvārthaḥ––anya sapāradik ke viṣhase viṣhyon kā viṣh prabal hai, inakī āsakti se aisā karmabandh hotā hai ki usase bahut janma–maraṇ hote haĩn.. 22.. āge kahate hain ki viṣhayon kī āsakti se chaturgati men duḥkh hī pāte hainḥ–––

ṇaraesu veyaṇāo tirikkhae māṇavesu dukkhāin.
devesu vi dohaggan lahanti visayāsiyā jīvā.. 23..
narakeṣhu vedanāḥ tiryakṣhu mānuṣheṣhu duḥkhāni.
deveṣhu api daurbhāgyan labhante viṣhayāsaktā jīvāḥ.. 23..

arthaḥ
––viṣhayon men āsakta jīv narakamen atyant vedanā pāte hain, tiryañchon men tathā

viṣhavedanāhat jīv ek ja vār pāme maraṇane,
paṇ viṣhayaviṣhahat jīv to sansārakāntāre bhame. 22.
bahu vedanā narako viṣhe, duḥkho manuj–tiryañchamān,
devey durbhagatā lahe viṣhayāvalambī ātamā. 23.

shīlapāhuḍ][379 manuṣhyon men duḥkhon ko pāte hain aur devon men utpanna hon to vahān̐ bhī dubhārugyapanā pāte hain, nīch dev hote hain, isaprakār chāron gatiyon men duḥkh hī pāte haĩn. bhāvārthaḥ––viṣhayāsakta jīvon ko kahīn bhī sukh nahīn hai, paralok men to narak ādi ke duḥkh pāte hī hain parantu is lok men bhī inake devan karane men āpatti va kaṣhṭa āte hī hain tathā sevan se ākulatā duḥkh hī hai, yah jīv bhram se sukh mānatā hai, satyārtha gnānī to virakta hī hotā hai.. 23.. āge kahate hain ki viṣhayon ko chhoṛane se kuchh bhī hāni nahīn haiḥ––

tusadhammantabaleṇ ya jah davvan ṇa hi ṇarāṇ gachchhedi.
tavasīlamant kusalī khavanti visayan vis va khalan.. 24..
tuṣhadhamadbalen cha yathā dravyan na hi narāṇān gachchhati.
tapaḥ shīlamantaḥ kushalāḥ kṣhipante viṣhayan viṣhamiv khalan.. 24..

arthaḥ
––jaise tuṣhon ke chalāne se, uṛāne se manuṣhya kā kuchh dravya nahīn jātā hai, vaise hī
tapasvī aur shīlavān puruṣh viṣhayoṅko khalakī tarah kṣhepate hain, dūr pheṅk dete haĩn.

bhāvārthaḥ––jo gnānī tap shīl sahit hai unake indriyon ke viṣhay khal kī tarah hain,
jaise īkhakā ras nikāl lene ke bād khal–chūse nīras ho jāte hain tab ve pheṅk dene yogya hī
hain, vaise hī viṣhayon ko jānanā. ras thā vah to gnāniyon ne jān liyā tab viṣhay to khal ke
samān rahe, unake tyāgane men kyā hāni? arthāt kuchh bhī nahīn hai. un gnāniyon ko dhanya hai jo
viṣhayon ko gneyamātra jānakar āsakta nahīn hote haĩn.

jo āsakta hote hain ve to agnānī hī haĩn. kyoṅki viṣhay to jaṛ padārtha hai sukh to

unako jānane se gnān men hī thā, agnānī ne āsakta hokar viṣhayon men sukh mānā. jaise shvān sūkhī haḍḍī chabātā hai tab haḍḍī kī nok mukhake talave men chubhatī hai, isase talavā phaṭ jātā hai aur usamen se khūn bahane lagatā hai, tab agnānī shvān jānatā hai ki yah ras haḍḍī men se nikalā hai aur us haḍḍī ko bār bār chabā kar sukh mānatā hai; vaise hī agnānī viṣhayon men sukh mānakar bār bār bhogatā hai, parantu gnāniyon ne apane gnān men hī sukh jānā hai, unako viṣhayon ke tyāg men duḥkh nahīn hai, aise jānanā.. 24.. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

men shīl hī uttam haiḥ–––

vaṭṭesu ya khaṇḍesu ya bhaddesu ya visāle su aṅgesu.
aṅgesu ya pappesu ya savvesu ya uttaman shīlan.. 25..
vr̥utteṣhu cha khaṇḍeṣhu cha bhadreṣhu cha vishāleṣhu aṅgeṣhu.
aṅgeṣhu cha prāpteṣhu cha sarveṣhu cha uttaman shīlan.. 25..

arthaḥ––prāṇī ke deh men kaī aṅg to vr̥utta arthāt gol sughaṭ prashansā yogya hote hain, kaī aṅg khanṛ arthāt arddha gol sadr̥ush prashansā yogya hote hain, kaī aṅg bhradra arthāt saral sīdhe prashansā yogya hote hain aur kaī aṅg vishāl arthāt vistīrṇa choṛe prashansā yogya hote hain, isaprakār sabahī aṅg yathāsthān shobhā pāte hue bhī aṅgon men yah shīl nāmakā aṅg hī uttam hai, yah na ho to sabahī aṅg shobhā nahīn pāte hain, yah prasiddha hai. bhāvārthaḥ–– lok men prāṇī sarvāṅg sundar ho parantu duḥshīl ho to sab lok dvārā nindā karane yogya hotā hai, isaprakār lokamen bhī shīl hī kī shobhā hai to mokṣha men bhī shīl hī ko pradhān kahā hai, jitane samyagdarshanādik mokṣha ke aṅg hain ve shīl hī ke parivār hain aisā pahile kah āye haĩn.. 25..

āge kahate hain ki jo kubuddhi se mūrḥ ho gaye hain ve viṣhayon men āsakta hain kushīl hain sansār men bhramaṇ karate hainḥ–––

puriseṇ vi sahiyāe kusamayamūḍhehi visayalolehĩn.
sansāre bhamidavyan arayagharaṭṭan va bhūdehĩn.. 26..

chhe bhadra, goḷ, vishāḷ ne khaṇḍātma aṅg sharīramān,

araghaṭṭikānā chakra jem paribhrame sansāramā̃n. 26.

puriṣheṇāpi sahiten kusamayamūḍhaiḥ viṣhayalaulaiḥ.
sansāre bhramitavyan arahaṭagharaṭṭan iv bhūtaiḥ.. 26..

arthaḥ––jo kusamay arthāt kumat se mūrḥ hain ve hī agnānī hain aur ve hī viṣhayon men lolupī hain–––āsakta hain, ve jaise arahaṭ men ghaṛī bhramaṇ karatī hai vaise hī sansār men bhramaṇ karate hain, unake sāth anya puruṣhon ke bhī sansār men duḥkh sahit bhramaṇ hotā hai. bhāvārthaḥ––kumatī viṣhayāsakta mithyādr̥uṣhṭi āp to viṣhayon ko achchhe mānakar sevan karate haĩn. kaī kumatī aise bhī hain jo isaprakār kahate hain ki sundar viṣhay sevan karane se brahma prasanna hotā hai, [–yah to brahmānand hai] yah parameshvar kī baṛī bhakti hai, aisā kah kar atyant āsakta hokar sevan karate haĩn. aisā hī upadesh dūsaron ko dekar viṣhayon men lagate hain, ve āp to arahaṭ kī ghaṛī kī tarah sansār men bhramaṇ karate hī hain, anek prakār ke duḥkh bhogate hain parantu anya puruṣhon ko bhī unamen lagā kar bhramaṇ karāte hain, isaliye yah viṣhay sevan duḥkh hī ke liye hai, duḥkh hī kā kāraṇ hai, aisā jānakar kumatiyon kā prasaṅg na karanā, viṣhayāsaktpanā chhoṛanā, isase sushīlapanā hotā hai..26.. āge kahate hain ki jo karma kī gāṇṭh viṣhay–sevan karake āp hī bāndhī hai usako satpuruṣh tapashcharaṇādi karake āp hī kāṭate hainḥ–––

ādehi kammagaṇṭhī jā baddhā visayarāgaraṅgehĩn.
tan chhindanti kayatthā tavasañjamasīlayaguṇeṇa.. 27..
ātmani karmagranthiḥ yā baddhā viṣhayarāgarāgaiḥ.
tān chhindanti kr̥utārthāḥ tapaḥ sanyamashīl guṇe na.. 27..

arthaḥ––jo viṣhayon ke rāgaraṅg karake āp hī karma kī gān̐ṭh bān̐dhī hai usako kr̥utārtha puruṣh [––uttam puruṣh] tap sanyam shīl ke dvārā prāpta huā jo guṇ usake dvārā chhedate hain–– kholate haĩn. bhāvārthaḥ––jo koī āp gān̐ṭh ghulākar bān̐dhe usako kholane kā vidhān bhī āp ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

je karmagranthi viṣhay rāge baddha chhe ātmā viṣhe,
tapacharaṇ–sanyam–shīlathī sukr̥utārtha chhede tehane. 27.

hī jāne, jaise sunār ādi kārīgar ābhūṣhaṇādik kī sandhi ke ṭān̐kā aisā jhāle ki vah sandhi adr̥uṣhṭa ho jāy, tab us sandhi ko ṭān̐ke kā jhālane vālā hī pahichān kar khole, vaise hī ātmāne apane hī rāgādik bhāvon se karmon kī gān̐ṭh bāndhī hai usako āp hī bhedavignān karake rāgādikake aur āpake jo bhed hain us sandhi ko pahichān kar tap sanyam shīlarūp bhāvarūp shastron ke dvārā karma bandh ko kāṭatā hai, aisā jānakar jo kr̥utārtha puruṣh hai ve apane prayojan ke karanevāle hain, ve is shīlaguṇako aṅgīkār karake ātmā ko karma se bhinna karate hain, yah paruṣhārtha puruṣhon kā kārya hai.. 27.. āge jo shīl ke dvārā ātmā shobhā pātā hai usako dr̥uṣhṭānt dvārā dikhāte haiḥ––

udadhī va radaṇabharido tavaviṇayansīladāṇarayaṇāṇan.
sohento ya sasīlo ṇivvāṇamaṇuttaran patto.. 28..
udadhiriv ratnabhr̥utaḥ tapovinayashīladānaratnānām.
shobhate cha sashīlaḥ nirvāṇamanuttaran prāptaḥ.. 28..
arthaḥ––jaise samudra ratnon se bharā hai to bhī jalasahit shobhā pātā hai, vaise hī yah
ātmā tap vinay shīlavān in ratnommen shīlasahit shobhā pātā hai, kyoṅki jo shīl sahit
huā usane anuttar arthāt jisase āge aur nahīn hai aise nirvāṇapad ko prāpta kiyā.

bhāvārthaḥ––jaise samudra men ratna bahut hain to bhī jal hī se ‘samudra’ nāmako prāpta karatā hai, vaise hī ātmā anya guṇasahit ho to bhī shīlase hī nirvāṇapad ko prāpta karatā hai, aisā jānanā.. 28.. āge jo shīlavān puruṣh hain ve hī mokṣha ko prāpta karate hain yah prasiddha karake dikhāte hainḥ

suṇahāṇ gaddahāṇ ya govasumahilāṇ dīsade mokkho.
je sodhanti chautthan pichchhijjantā jaṇehi savvehĩn.. 29..

tap–dān–shīl–suvinay–ratnasamūh sah jaladhi samo,
sohant jīv sashīl pāme shreṣhṭha shivapadane aho! 28.

dekhāy chhe shun mokṣha strī–pashu–gāy–gardabh–shvānano?
je turyane sādhe lahe chhe mokṣha; dekhe sau jano. 29.

shunān gardabhānān cha gopashumahilānān drashyate mokṣhaḥ.
ye shodhayanti chaturthan drashyatān janaiḥ sarvainḥ.. 29..

arthaḥ
––āchārya kahate hain ki––yah sab log dekho––shvān, gardabh inamen aur gau ādi
pashu tathā strī inamen kisī kā mokṣha honā dikhatā hai? vah to dikhatā nahīn hai. mokṣha to chauthā
puruṣhārtha hai, isaliye jo chaturtha paruṣhārtha ko shodhate hain unhī ke mokṣha kā honā dekhā jātā hai.

bhāvārthaḥ––dharma artha kām mokṣha ye chār puruṣh ke hī prayojan kahe hain yah prasiddha hai, isī
se inakā nām puruṣhārtha hai aisā prasiddha hai. inamen chauthā puruṣhārtha mokṣha hai, usako puruṣh hī
shodhate hain aur puruṣh hī usako herate hain–––usakī siddha karate hai,n anya anya shvān gardabh
bail pashu strī inake mokṣha kā shodhanā prasiddha nahīn hai, jo ho to mokṣha kā puruṣhārtha aisā nām
kyon ho? yahān̐ āshay aisā hai ki mokṣha shīl se hotā hai, aur shvān gardabh ādik hain ve to
agnānī hain kushīl hain, unakā svabhāv prakr̥iti hī aisī hai ki palaṭ kar mokṣha hone yogya tathā
usake shodhane yogya nahīn hain, isaliye puruṣh ko mokṣha kā sādhan shīl ko jānakar aṅgīkār
karanā, samyagdarshanādik hai vah to shīl hī ke parivār pahile kahe hī hain isaprakār jānanā
chāhiye.. 29..

āge kahate hain ki shīl ke binā gnān hī se mokṣha nahīn hai, isakā udāharaṇ kahate hainḥ–
––
jai visayalolaehin ṇāṇīhi havvijja sāhido mokkho.
to so sachchaiputto dasapuvvīovikin gado ṇarayan.. 30..
yadi viṣhayalolaiḥ gnānibhiḥ bhavet sādhitaḥ mokṣhaḥ.
varhi saḥ sātyakiputraḥ dashapūrvikaḥ kin gataḥ narakan.. 30..

arthaḥ
––jo viṣhayon men lol arthāt lolupī – āsakta aur gnānasahit aise gnāniyon ne
mokṣha sādhā ho to dash pūrvako jānanevālā rudra narak ko kyon gayā?

bhāvārthaḥ–– shuṣhka kore gnān hī se mokṣha kisīne sādhā kahen to dash pūrvakā pāṭhī rudra

narak kyon gayā? isaliye shīl ke binā keval gnān hī mokṣha nahīn hai rudra kushīl sevan karanevālā huā, munipad se bhraṣhṭa hokar kushīl sevan kiyā isaliye narak men gayā, yas kathā purāṇon men prasiddha hai.. 30.. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

jo mokṣha sādhit hot viṣhayavilubdha gnānadharo vaḍe,
dashapūrvadhar paṇ sātyakisut kem pāmat narak ne? 30.

jai ṇāṇeṇ visohī sīleṇ viṇā buhehin ṇiddiṭṭho.
dasapuvviyaras bhāvo ya ṇa kin puṇu ṇimmalo jādo.. 31..
yadi gnānen vishuddhaḥ shīlen vinā budhairnirdiṣhṭaḥ.
dashapūrvikasya bhāvaḥ cha na kin punaḥ nirmalaḥ jātaḥ.. 31..
arthaḥ––jo shīl ke binā gnān hī se visoh arthāt vishuddhabhāv paṇḍiton ne kahā ho to
dash pūrvako jānane vālā jo rudra usakā bhāv nirmal kyon nahīn huā, isaliye gnāt hotā hai
ki bhāv nirmal shīl se hote haĩn.

bhāvārthaḥ––korā gnān to gney ko hī batātā hai isaliye vah mithyātva kaṣhāy hone par viparyay ho jātā hai, ataḥ mithyātva kaṣhāy kā miṭanā hī shīl hai, isaprakār shīlake binā gnān hī se mokṣha kī siddhi hotī nahīn, shīl ke binā muni bhī ho jāy to bhraṣhṭa ho jātā hai. isaliye shīl ko pradhān jānanā.. 31.. āge kahate hain ki yadi narak men bhī shīl ho jāy aur viṣhayon se virakta ho jāy to vahān̐ se nikal kar tīrthaṅkar pad ko prāpta hotā haiḥ–––

jāe visayaviratto so gamayadi ṇarayaveyaṇā paurā.
tā lehadi aruhapayan bhaṇiyañjiṇavaḍḍhamāṇeṇa.. 32..
yaḥ viṣhayaviraktaḥ saḥ gamayati narakavedanāḥ prachurāḥ.
tat labhate arhatādan bhaṇitan jinavarddhamāneva.. 32..

arthaḥ––viṣhayon se virakta hai so jīv narak kī bahut vedanā ko bhī gan̐chātā hai––vahān̐ bhī ati duḥkhī nahīn hotā aur vahān̐ se nikal kar tīrthaṅkar hotā hai aisā jin varddhamān bhagavān ne kahā hai. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

jo shīl viṇ bas gnānathī kahī hoy shuddhi gnānīe,
dashapūrvadharano bhāv kem thayo nahīn nirmaḷ are? 31.

viṣhaye virakta kare susah ati–ugra nārakavedanā,
ne pāmatā arhantapadaḥ– vīre kahyun jinamārgamā̃n. 32.

bhāvārthaḥ––jinasiddhānt men aise kahā hai ki––tīsarī pr̥ithvī se nikalakar tīrthaṅkar hotā hai vah yah bhī shīl hī kā mahātmya hai. vahān̐ samyaktvasahit hokar viṣhayon se virakta huā bhalī bhāvanā bhāve tab narak–vedanā bhī alpa ho jātī hai aur vahān̐ se nikalakar arahantapad prāpta karake mokṣha pātā hai, aisā viṣhayon se viraktabhāv vah shīlakā hī mahātmya jāno. siddhānt men is prakār kā kahā hai ki samyagdr̥uṣhṭi ke gnān aur vairāgya kī shakti niyam se hotī hai, vah vairāgyashakti hai vahī shīl kā ekadesh hai isaprakār jānanā.. 32..

āge is kathan kā saṅkoch karate hainḥ–––

evan bahuppayāran jiṇehi pachchakkhaṇāṇ darasīhĩn.
sīleṇ ya mokkhapayan akkhātīdan ya loyaṇāṇehĩn.. 33..
evan bahuprakāran jinaiḥ pratyakṣha gnānadarshibhiḥ.
shīlen cha mokṣhapadan akṣhātītan cha lokagnānaiḥ.. 33..

arthaḥ
––evan arthāt pūrvokta prakār tathā anya prakār [–bahut prakār] jinake pratyakṣha
gnān–darshan pāye jāte hain aur jinake lok–alok kā gnān hai aise jinadev ne kahā hai ki
shīl se akṣhātīt–––jinamen indriyarahit atīndriy gnān sukh hai aisā mokṣhapad hotā hai.

bhāvārthaḥ–––sarvagnadevane isaprakār kahā hai ki shīlase atīndriy gnān sukharūp mokṣhapad prāpta hotā hai vah bhavyajīv is shīlako aṅgīkār karon, aisā upadesh kā āshay sūchit hotā hai; bahut kahān̐ tak kahen itanā hī bahut prakār se kahā jāno..33.. āge kahate hain ki is shīl se nirvāṇ hotā hai, usakā bahut prakār se varṇan hai vah kaise?ḥ––– ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

arthaḥ
––samyaktva–gnān–darshan–vīrya ye pan̐ch āchār hai ve ātmā kā āshray pākar
purātan karmoṅko vaise hī dagdha karate hain jaise ki pavan sahit agni purāne sukhe īndhan ko dagdha
kar detī hai.

bhāvārthaḥ––yahān̐ samyaktva ādi pan̐ch āchār to agnisthānīy hain aur ātmā ke traikālik shuddha svabhāv ko shīl kahate hain, yah ātmā kā svabhāv pavanasthānīy hai, vah pan̐ch āchārarūp agni aur shīlarūpī pavan kī sahāyatā pākar purātan karmabandh ko dagdha karake ātmā ko shuddha karatā hai, isaprakār shīl hī pradhān hai. pān̐ch āchāron men chāritra kahā hai aur yahān̐ samyaktva kahane men chāritra hī jānanā, virodh na jānanā.. 34.. āge kahate hain ki aise aṣhṭa karmoṅko jinane dagdha kiye ve siddha hue hainḥ–––

ṇiddaḍḍha aṭṭhakammā visayavirattā jidindiyā dhīrā.
tavaviṇayashīlasahidā siddhā siddhin gadin pattā.. 35..
nirdagdhāṣhṭakarmāṇaḥ viṣhayaviraktā jitendriyā dhīrāḥ.
tapovinayashīl sahitāḥ siddhāḥ siddhin gatin prāptāḥ.. 35..

arthaḥ––jin puruṣhon ne indriyoṅko jīt liyā hai isī se viṣhayon se virakta ho gaye hain, aur dhīr hain, pariṣhahādi upasarga āne par chalāyamān nahīn hote hain, tap vinay shīlasahit hain ve aṣhṭa karmon ko dūr karake siddhagati jo mokṣha usako prāpta ho gaye hain, ve siddha kahalāte haĩn. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

bhāvārthaḥ–––yahān̐ bhī jitendriy aur viṣhayaviraktatā ye visheṣhaṇ shīl hī kī pradhānatā dikhāte haĩn.. 35.. āge kahate hain ki jo lāvaṇya aur shīl yukta hain ve muni prashansā yogya hote hainḥ––

lāvaṇṇasīl kusalo jammamahīruhojassa savaṇassa.
so sīlo sa mahappā bhamijja guṇavittharan bhavie.. 36..
lāvaṇyashīlakushalaḥ janmamahī ruhaḥ yasya shramaṇasya.
saḥ shīlaḥ sa mahātmā bhramet guṇavistāraḥ bhavye.. 36..

arthaḥ
––jis muni kā janmarūp vr̥ukṣha lāvaṇya arthāt anya ko priy lagatā hai aise sarva
aṅg sundar tathā man vachan kāy kī cheṣhṭā sundar aur shīl arthāt antaraṅg mithyātva viṣhay
rahit paropakārī svabhāv, in donon men pravīṇ nipuṇ ho vah shīlavān hai mahātmā hai usake
guṇoṅkā vistār lokamen bhramatā hai, phailatā hai.

bhāvārthaḥ––aise muni ke guṇ lok men vistār ko prāpta hote hain, sarva lok ke prashansā yogya hote hain, yahān̐ bhī shīl hī ki mahimā jānanā aur vr̥ukṣha kā svarūp kahā, jaise vr̥ukṣha ke shākhā, patra, puṣhpa, phal sundar hon aur chhāyādi karake rāgadveṣh rahit sab lokakā samān upakār kare us vr̥ukṣha kī mahimā sab log karate hain; aise hī muni bhī aisā ho to sabake dvārā mahimā karane yogya hotā hai.. 36..

āge kahate hain ki jo aisā ho vah jinamārga men ratnatray kī prāptirūp bodhi ko prāpta hotā haiḥ–––

ṇāṇan jhāṇan jogo dansaṇasuddhīy 1vīrayāyattan.
sammattadansaṇeṇ ya lahanti jiṇasāsaṇe bohĩn.. 37..

arthaḥ
––gnān, dhyān, yog, darshan kī shuddhatā ye to vīrya ke ādhīn hain aur samyagdarshan
se jinashāsan men bodhi ko prāpta karate hain, ratnatrayakī prāpti hotī hai.

bhāvārthaḥ––gnān arthāt padāthokṣh ko visheṣharūp se jānanā, dhyān arthāt ‘svarūp men’ ekāgrachitta honā, yog arthāt samādhi lagānā, samyagdarshan ko niratichār shuddha karanā ye to apane vīrya [shakti] ke ādhīn hai, jinā bane utanā ho parantu samyagdarshan se bodhi arthāt ratnatray kī prāpti hotī hai, isake hone par visheṣh dhyānādik bhī yathāshakti hote hī hain aur isase shakti bhī barḥatī hai. aise kahane men bhī shīl hī kā mahātmya jānanā, ratnatray hai vahī ātmā kā svabhāv hai, usako shīl bhī kahate haĩn..37..

āge kahate hain ki yah prāpti jinavachan se hotī haiḥ–––

jiṇavachaṇagahidasārā visayavirattā tāvodhaṇā dhīrā.
sīl salileṇ ṇhādā te siddhālay suhan janti.. 38..
jinavachanagr̥uhītasārā viṣhayaviraktāḥ tapodhanā dhīrāḥ.
shīl salilen snātāḥ te siddhālay sukhan yānti.. 38..
arthaḥ––jinane jinavachanon se sār ko grahaṇ kar liyā aur viṣhayon se virakta ho gaye
hain, jinake tap hī dhan hai tathā dhīr hain aise hokar muni shīlarūp jalase snānakar shuddha hue hain
ve siddhālay jo siddhoṅke rahane kā sthān hai usake sukhon ko prāpta hote haĩn.

bhāvārthaḥ––jo jinavachan ke dvārā vastu ke yathārtha svarūp ko jānakar usakā sār jo apane shuddha svarūp kī prāpti usakā grahaṇ karate hain ve indriyon ke viṣhayon se virakta hokar tap aṅgīkār karate hain–––muni hote hain, dhīr vīr ban kar pariṣhah uparsag āne par bhī chalāyamān nahīn hote hai tab shīl jo svarūp kī prāpti kī pūrṇatārūp chaurāsī lākh uttaraguṇ kī pūrṇatā vahī huā nirmal jal usase snān karake sab karmamal ko dhokar siddha hue, vah mokṣha mandiramen rahakar vahān̐ paramānanda avināshī atīndriy avyābādh sukh ko bhogate hain, yah shīlakā mahātmya hai. aisā shīl jinavachan ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

jinavachanano grahī sār, viṣhayavirakta dhīr tapodhano,

shīlapāhuḍ][389 se prāpta hotā hai, jināgam kā nirantar abhyās karanā uttam hai.. 38.. āge antasamay men sanllekhanā kahī hai, usamen darshan gnān chāritra tap in chār ārādhanā kā upadesh hai ye bhī shīl hī se pragaṭ hote hain, usako pragaṭ karake kahate hainḥ––

savvaguṇ khīṇakammā suhadukkhavivajjidā maṇavisuddhā.
papphoḍiyakammaravā havanti ārāhaṇāpayaḍā.. 39..
sarvaguṇakṣhīṇakarmāṇaḥ sukhaduḥkhavivarjitāḥ manovishuddhaḥ.
prasphoṭitakarmarajasaḥ bhavanti ārādhanāprakaṭāḥ.. 39..

arthaḥ
––sarvaguṇ jo mūlaguṇ uttaraguṇon se jisamen karma kṣhīṇ ho gaye hain, sukh–duḥkh se
rahit hain, jinamen man vishuddha hai aur jisamen karmarūp raj ko uṛā dī hai aisī arādhanā pragaṭ
hotī rhai.

bhāvārthaḥ––pahile to samyagdarshan sahit mūlaguṇ uttaraguṇon ke dvārā karmoṅkī nirjarā
hone se karma kī sthiti anubhāg kṣhīṇ hotī hai, pīchhe viṣhayon ke dvārā kuchh sukh–duḥkh hotā thā
usase rahit hotā hai, pīchhe dhyān men sthit hokar shreṇī charḥe tab upayog vishuddha ho, kaṣhāyon
kā uday avyakta ho tab sukh–duḥkh kī vedanā miṭe, pīchhe man vishuddha hokar kṣhayopasham
gnānake dvārā kuchh gney se gneyāntar honekā vikalpa hotā hai vah miṭakar ekatvavitarka avichār
nāmakā shukladhyān bārahaven guṇasthān ke anta men hotā hai yah manakā vikalpa miṭakar vishuddha
honā hai.

pīchhe ghātikarma kā nāsh hokar ananta chatuṣhṭay pragaṭ hote hain vah karmaraj kā uṛanā hai,

isaprakār ārādhanā kī sampūrṇatā pragaṭ honā hai. jo charam sharīrī hain unake to isaprakār ārādhanā pragaṭ hokar mukti kī prāpti hotī hai. anyake ārādhanā kā ek desh hotā hai ant men usakā ārādhan karake svarga prāpta hotā hai, vahān̐ sāgaro paryanta sukh bhog vahān̐ se chay kar manuṣhya ho ārādhan ko sampūrṇa karake mokṣha prāpta hotā hai, isaprakār jānanā, yah jinavachan kā aur shīl kā mahātmya hai.. 39.. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

ārādhanāpariṇat sarav guṇathī kare kr̥ush karmane,

prasiddha hai, vah gnān to aisā ho usako kahate hainḥ–––

arahante suhabhattī sammattan dansaṇeṇ suvisuddhan.
sīlan visayavirāgo ṇāṇan puṇakerisan bhaṇiyan.. 40..
arhati shubhabhaktiḥ samyaktvan darshanen suvishuddhan.
shīlan viṣhayavirāgaḥ gnānan punaḥ kīdrashan bhaṇitan.. 40..

arthaḥ
––arahanton men shubh bhakti kā honā samyaktva hai, vah kaisā hai? samyagdarshan se
vishuddha hai tattvārthon kā nishchay–vyavahārasvarūp shraddhān aur bāhya jinamudrā nagna digambararūp kā
dhāraṇ tathā usakā shraddhān aisā darshan se vishuddha atīchār rahit nirmal hai aisā to arahant
bhaktirūp samyaktva hai, viṣhayon se virakta honā shīl hai aur gnān bhī yahī hai tathā isase bhinna
gnān kaisā kahā hai? samyaktva shīl binā to gnān mithyāgnānarūp agnān hai.

bhāvārthaḥ––yah sab maton men prasiddha hai ki gnān se sarvasiddhi hai aur gnān shāstron se
hotā hai. āchārya kahate hain ki–––ham to gnān usako kahate hain jo samyaktva aur shīl
sahit ho, aisā jin mārga men kahā hai, isase bhinna gnān kaisā hai? isase bhinna gnān ko to
ham gnān nahīn kahate hain, inake binā to vah agnān hī hai aur samyaktva va shīl ho vah
jināgam se hote haĩn. vahān̐ jisake dvārā samyaktva shīl hue aur usakī bhakti na ho to
samyaktva kaise kahā jāve, jike vachan dvārā yah prāpta kiyā jātā hai usakī bhakti ho tab
jāne ki isake shraddhā huī aur jab samyaktva ho tab viṣhayon se virakta hoy hī ho, yadi
virakta na ho to sansār aur mokṣha kā svarūp kyā jānā? isaprakār samyaktva shīl ke sambandh
se gnān kī tathā shāstra kī mahimā hai. aise yah jināgam hai so sansār men nivr̥utti karake mokṣha
prāpta karāne vālā hai, vah jayavant ho. yah samyaktva sahit gnān kī mahimā hai vahī antamaṅgal
jānanā.. 40..

isakā saṅkṣhep to kahate āye ki–––shīl nām svabhāv kā hai. ātmākā svabhāv shuddha gnān darshamayī chetanāsvarūp hai vah anādi karma ke sanyog se vibhāvarūp pariṇamatā hai. isake visheṣh mithyātva, kaṣhāy ādi anek hain inako rāgadveṣh moh bhī kahate hain, inake bhed saṅkṣhep se chaurāsī lākh kiye hain, vistār se asaṅkhyāt anant hote hain inako kushīl kahate haĩn. inake abhāvarūp saṅkṣhep se chaurāsī lākh uttaraguṇ hain, inhen shīl kahate hain, yah to sāmānya paradravya ke sambandh kī apekṣhā shīl–kushīl kā artha hai aur prasiddha vyavahār kī apekṣhā strī ke saṅg kī apekṣhā kushīl ke aṭhārah hajār bhed kahen hain, inakā abhāv shīl ke aṭhārah hajār bhed hain, inako jināgam se jānakar pālanā. lok men bhī shīl kī mahimā prasiddha hai, jo pālate hain svarga–mokṣha ke sukh pāte hain, unako hamārā namaskār hai ve hamāre bhī shīl kī prāpti karo, yah prārthanā hai.

chhappay
ān vastu ke saṅg rāchi jinabhāv bhaṅg kari;
varatai tāhi kushīlabhāv bhākhe kuraṅg dhari!
tāhi tajain munirāy pāp nij shuddharūp jal;
dhoy karmaraj hoy siddhi pāvai sukh avichala..
yah nishchay shīl subrahmamay vyavahārai tiy taj namai.
jo pālai sabavidhi tini namūn pāun jin bhav na janam maĩn..
dohā
namūn pañchapad brahmamay maṅgalarūp anūpa.
uttam sharaṇ sadā lahūn phiri na parūn bhavakūpa.. 2..

vachanikākār kī prashasti

isaprakār shrī kundakunda āchāryakr̥ut gāthābaddha pāhuḍagranth hai, isamen ye pāhuḍ hain, inakī yah deshabhāṣhāvachanikā likhī hai. chhah pāhuḍ kī to ṭīkā ṭippaṇ hai. inamen ṭīkā to shrutasāgar kr̥ut hai aur ṭippaṇ pahile kisī or ne kiyā hai. inamen kai gāthā tathā artha anya prakār hain, mere vichār men āyā unakā āshray bhī liyā hai aiār jaisā artha mujhe pratibhāṣhit huā vaisā likhā hai. liṅgapāhuḍ aur shīlapāhuḍ in donon pāhuḍ kī ṭīkā ṭippaṇ milī nahīn isaliye gāthākā artha jaisā prati bhās men āyā vaisā likhā hai.

shrī shrutasāgarakr̥ut ṭīkā aṣhṭapāhuḍ kī hai, usamen granthāntar kī sākṣhī ādi kathan bahut hai vah us ṭīkā kī vachanikā nahīn hai, gāthā kā arthamātra vachanikā kar bhāvārtha men merī pratibhāsamen āyā usake anusār artha likhā hai. prākr̥it vyākaraṇāādi kā gnān mere men visheṣh nahīn hai isaliye kahīn vyākaraṇ se tathā āgam se shabda aur artha apabhransh huā hoto buddhimān paṇḍit mūlagranth vichār kar shuddha karake parḥanā, mujhe alpabuddhi jānakar han̐sī mat karanā, kṣhamā karanā, satpuruṣhon kā svabhāv uttam hotā hai, doṣh dekhakar kṣhamā hī karate haĩn. yahān̐ koī kahe–––tumhārī buddhi alpa hai to aise mahān grantha kī vachanikā kyon kī? usako aisā kahanā ki isakāl men mere se bhī mans buddhi bahut hain, unake samajhane ke liye kī hai. isamen samyagdarshan ko dr̥urḥ karane kā pradhān rūp se varṇan hai, isaliye alpa buddhi bhī vān̐che parḥen artha kā dhāraṇ karen to unake jinamat kā shraddhān dr̥urḥ ho. yah prayojan jānakar jaisā artha pratibhās men āyā vaisā likhā hai or jo baṛe buddhimān hain ve mūl grantha ko parḥ kar hī shraddhān dr̥urḥ kareṅge, mere koī khyāti lābh pūjā kā to prayojan hai nahīn, dharmānurāg se yah vachanikā likhī hai, isaliye buddhimānon ke kṣhamā hī karane yogya hai.
