arthaḥ––jo liṅg dhāraṇ karake īryāpath shodhakar chalanā thā usamen shodhakar nahīn chale, dauṛatā chalatā huā uchhale, gir paṛe, phir uṭhakar dauṛe aur pr̥ithvī ko khode, chalate hue aise pair paṭake jo usase pr̥ithvī khud jāy, isaprakār se chale so tiryañchayoni hai, pashu hai, agnānī hai, manuṣhya nahīn hai.. 15.. āge kahate hain ki jo vanaspati ādi sthāvar jīvoṅkī hinsā se karma bandh hote hai usako na ginatā svachchhand hokar pravartatā hai, vah shramaṇ nahīn haiḥ–––

bandho ṇirao santo sassan khaṇḍedi tah ya vasuhan pi.
chhindahi tarugaṇ bahuso tirikkhajoṇī ṇa so samaṇo.. 16..
bandhan nīrajāḥ san sasyan khaṇḍayati tathā cha sudhāmapi.
chhinatti tarugaṇan bahushaḥ tiryagyoniḥ na saḥ shramaṇaḥ.. 16..

arthaḥ
––jo liṅg dhāraṇ karake vanaspati ādi kī hinsā se bandh hotā hai usako doṣh na
mān kar bandh ko nahīn ginatā huā sasya arthāt anāj ko kūṭatā hai aur vaise hī vasudhā
arthāt pr̥uthavī ko khodatā hai tathā bārabār tarugaṇ arthāt vr̥ukṣhon ke samuh ko chhedatā hai, aisā
liṅgī tiryañchayoni hai, pashu hai, agnānī hai, shramaṇ nahīn hai.

bhāvārthaḥ––vanaspati ādi sthāvar jīv jinasūtra men kahe hain aur inakī hinsāse karmabandh
honā bhī kahā hai usako nirdoṣh samajhatā huā kahatā hai ki–––isamen kyā doṣh hai? kyā bandh
hai? isaprakār mānatā huā tathā vaidya–karmādik ke nimitta auṣhadhādik ko, dhānyako, pr̥ithvī ko
tathā vr̥ukṣhoṅko khanṛatā hai, khodatā hai, chhedatā hai vah agnānī pashu hai, liṅg dhāraṇ karake shramaṇ
kahalātā hai vah shramaṇ nahīn hai.. 16..

āge kahate hain ki jo liṅg dhāraṇ karake striyon se rāg karatā hai aur parako dūṣhaṇ

detā hai vah shramaṇ nahīn haiḥ––– ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

je avagaṇīne bandh, khāṇḍe dhānya, khode pr̥ithvīne,

rāgan karedi ṇichchan mahilāvaggan paran cha dūsedi.
dansaṇaṇāṇavihīṇo tirikkhajoṇī ṇa so samaṇo.. 17..
rāgan karoti nityan mahilāvargan par cha dūṣhayati.
darshanagnānavihīnaḥ tiryagayoniḥ na saḥ shramaṇaḥ.. 17..

arthaḥ––jo liṅg dhāraṇ karake striyon ke samūh ke prati to nirantar rāg–prīti karatā hai aur par jo koī anya nirdoṣh hain unako doṣh lagātā hai vah darshan–gnānarahit hai, aisā liṅgī tiryañchayoni hai, pashu samān hai, agnānī hai, shramaṇ nahīn hai. bhāvārthaḥ––liṅg dhāraṇ karanevāle ke samyagdarshan–gnān hotā hai aur paradravyon se rāg– dveṣh nahīn karanevālā chāritra hotā hai. vahān̐ jo strī samūh se to rāg–prīti karatā hai aur anyake doṣh lagākar dveṣh karatā hai, vyabhichārī kā sā svabhāv hai, to usake kaisā darshan– gnān? aur kaisā chāritra? liṅg dhāraṇ karake liṅg ke yogya ācharaṇ karanā thā vah nahīn kiyā tab agnānī pashu samān hī hai, shramaṇ kahalātā hai vah āp bhī mithyādr̥uṣhṭi hai anya ko bhī mithyādr̥uṣhṭi karanevālā hai, aise kā prasaṅg bhī yukta nahīn hai..17.. āge phir kahate hainḥ–––

pavvajjahīṇagahiṇan ṇehan sīsammi baṭṭade bahuso.
āyāraviṇayahīṇo tirikkhajoṇī ṇa so samaṇo.. 18..
pravrajyāhīnagr̥uhiṇi snehan shiṣhye vartate bahushaḥ.
āchāravinayahīnaḥ tiryaṅgayoniḥ na saḥ shramaṇaḥ.. 18..

arthaḥ–– jo liṅgī ‘pravajyā–hīn’ arthāt dīkṣhā–rahit gr̥uhasthon par aur shiṣhyon par bahur sneh rakhatā hai aur āchār arthāt muniyon kī kriyā aur guruon ke vinay se rahit hotā hai vah tiryañchayoni hai, pashu hai, agnānī hai, shramaṇ nahīn hai. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

strīvarga par nit rāg karato, doṣh de chhe anyane,
dagagnānathī je shūnya, te tiryañchayoni, na shramaṇ chhe. 17.

āchār–vinayavihīn, te tiryañchayoni, na shramaṇ chhe. 18.

bhāvārthaḥ–– gr̥uhasthon se to bārambār lālapāl rakkhe aur shiṣhyon se bahut saneh rakkhe, tathā munikī pravr̥utti āvashyak ādi kuchh kare nahīn, guruon ke pratikūl rahe, vinayādik kare nahīn aisā liṅgī pashu samān hai, usako sādhu nahīn kahate.. 18.. āge kahate hain ki jo liṅg dhāraṇ karake pūrvokta prakār pravartatā hai vah shramaṇ nahīn hai aisā saṅkṣhep se kahate hainḥ–––

evan sahio muṇivar sañjadamajjhammi vaṭṭade ṇichchan.
bahulan pi jāṇamāṇo bhāvaviṇaṭṭho ṇa so samaṇo.. 19..
evan sahitaḥ munivar! sanyatamadhye varttate nityam.
bahulamapi jānan bhāvavinaṣhṭaḥ na saḥ shramaṇaḥ.. 19..

arthaḥ
–––evan arthāt pūrvokta prakār pravr̥utti sahit jo vartatā hai vah he munivar! yadi
aisā liṅgadhārī sanyamī muniyon ke madhya bhī nirantar rahatā hai aur bahut shāstroṅko bhī jānatā hai
to bhī bhāvonse naṣhṭa hai, shramaṇ nahīn hai.

bhāvārthaḥ––aisā pūrvokta prakār liṅgī jo sadā muniyon men rahatā hai aur bahut shāstron ko jānatā hai to bhī bhāv arthāt shuddha darshan–gnān–chāritrarūp pariṇām se rahit hai, isaliye muni nahīn hai, bhraṣhṭa hai, anya muniyon ke bhāv bigāṛane vālā hai.. 19.. āge phir kahate hain ki jo striyon kā sansarga bahut rakhatā hai vah bhī shramaṇ nahīn haiḥ––

dansaṇaṇāṇ charitte mahilāvaggammi dedi vīsaṭṭho.
pāsattha vi hu ṇiyaṭṭho bhāvaviṇaṭṭho ṇa so samaṇo.. 20..

pārshvasthādapi sphuṭan vinaṣhṭaḥ bhāvavinaṣhṭaḥ na saḥ shramaṇaḥ.. 20..

arthaḥ
––jo liṅg dhāraṇ karake striyon ke samūh men unakā vishvās karake or unako
vishvās utpanna karāke darshan–gnān–chāritra ko detā hai unako samyaktva batātā hai, parḥanā–
parḥānā, gnān detā hai, dīkṣhā detā hai, pravr̥utti sikhātā hai, isaprakār vishvās utpanna karake
unamen pravartatā hai vah aisā liṅgī to pārshvastha se bhī nikr̥uṣhṭa hai, pragaṭ bhāvase vinaṣhṭa hai, shramaṇ
nahīn haĩn.

bhāvārthaḥ–––jo liṅg dhāraṇ karake striyon ko vishvās utpanna karākar unase nirantar parḥanā, parḥānā, lālāpāl rakhanā, usako jāno ki isakā bhāv khoṭā hai. pārshvastha to bhraṣhṭa muni ko kahate hain usase bhī vah nikr̥uṣhṭa hai, aiseko sādhu nahīn kahate haĩn.. 20..

āge phir kahate hainḥ–––

puñchchhalighari jo bhuñjai ṇichchan santhuṇadi posae piṇḍan.
pāvadi bālasahāvan bhāvaviṇaṭṭho ṇa so samaṇo.. 21..
punshchalī gr̥uhe yaḥ bhuṅkte nityan sanstauti puṣhṇāti piṇḍan.
prāpnoti bālasvabhāvan bhāvavinaṣhṭaḥ na saḥ shramaṇaḥ.. 21..
arthaḥ––jo liṅgadhārī punshchalī arthāt vyabhichāriṇī strī ke dhar bhojan letā hai, āhār
karatā hai aur nitya usakī stuti karatā hai ki yah––baṛī dharmātmā hai, isake sādhuon kī
baṛī bhakti hai, isaprakār se nitya usakī prashansā karatā hai isaprakār piṇḍako [sharīrako]
pālatā hai vah aisā liṅgī bālasvabhāv ko prāpta hotā hai, agnānī hai, bhāv se vinaṣhṭa hai, vah
shramaṇ nahīn hai.

bhāvārthaḥ––jo liṅg dhāraṇ karake vyabhichāriṇī kā āhar khākar piṇḍ pālatā hai,

usakī nitya prashansā karatā hai, tab jāno ki–––yah bhī vyabhichārī hai, agnānī hai, usako lajjā bhī nahīn ātī hai, isaprakār vah bhāvase vinaṣhṭa hai, munitvake bhāv nahīn hain, tab muni kaise? ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

asatīgr̥uhe bhojan, kare stuti nitya, poṣhe piṇḍ je,
agnānabhāve yukta bhāvavinaṣhṭa chhe, nahi shramaṇ chhe. 21.

āge is liṅgapāhuḍ ko sampūrṇa karate hain aur kahate hain ki jo dharmakā yathārtha svarūp se pālan karatā hai vah uttam sukh pātā haiḥ––––

iy liṅgapāhuḍamiṇan savvambuddhehin desiyan dhamman.
pālei kaṭṭhasahiyan so gāhadi uttam ṭhāṇan.. 22..
iti liṅgaprābhr̥utamidan sarvan buddhaiḥ deshitan dharmam.
pālayati kaṣhṭasahitan saḥ gāhate uttam sthānam.. 22..

arthaḥ
––isaprakār is liṅgapāhuḍ shāstra kā sarvabuddha jo gnānī gaṇadharādi unhonne–
upadesh diyā hai, usako jānakar jo muni dharmako kaṣhṭasahit baṛe yatnase pālatā hai, rakṣhā
karatā hai vah uttamasthān–mokṣha ko pātā hai.

bhāvārthaḥ––vah muni kā liṅg hai vah baṛe puṇya ke uday se prāpta hotā hai, use prāpta karake bhī phir khoṭe kāraṇ milākar usako bigāṛatā hai to jāno ki yah baṛā hī abhāgā hai––chintāmaṇi ratna pākar kauṛī ke badale men naṣhṭa karatā hai, isīliye āchārya ne upadesh diyā hai ki aisā pad pākar isakī baṛe yatna se rakṣhā karanā,–––kusaṅgati karake bigāṛegā to jaise pahile sansār–bhramaṇ thā vaise hī phir sansār men ananta kāl bhramaṇ hogā aur yatnapūrvak munitvakā pālan karegā to shīghra hī mokṣha prāpta karegā, isaliye jisako mokṣha chāhiye vah munidharma ko prāpta karake yatna sahit pālan karo, pariṣhah kā, upasargakā upadrav āve to bhī chalāyamān mat hoo, yah shrī sarvagnadev kā upadesh hai.. 22..

isaprakār yah liṅgapāhuḍ granth pūrṇa kiyā. isakā saṅkṣhep is prakār hai ki–––is pañchamakāl men jinaliṅg dhāraṇ karake phir durbhikṣha ke nimitta se bhraṣhṭa hue, bheṣh bigāṛ diyā ve arddhaphālak kahalāye, inamen se phir shvetāmbar hue, inamen se bhī yāpanīy hue, ityādi hokar ke shithilāchār ko puṣhṭa karake ke shāstra rachakar svachchhand ho gaye, inamen se kitane hī nipaṭ– bilkul nindya pravr̥utti karane lage, inakā niṣhedh karane ke liye tathā sabako satya upadesh deneke liye yah granth hai, isako samajhakar shraddhān karanā. isaprakār nindya ācharaṇavālon ko sādhu– mokṣhamārgī na mānanā, inakī vandanā va pūjā na karanā yah upadesh hai. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

evī rīte sarvagne kathit ā liṅgaprābhr̥ut jāṇīne,
je dharma pāḷe kaṣhṭa sah, te sthān uttamane lahe. 22.

ab shīlapāhuḍ granth kī deshabhāṣhāvachanikā kā hindī bhāṣhanuvād likhate hainḥ–––

bhav kī prakr̥iti nivārikai, pragaṭ kiye nij bhāva.
hvai arahant ju siddha phuni, vandūn tini dharī chāva.. 1..

isaprakār iṣhṭa ke namaskārarūp maṅgal karake shīlapāhuḍ granth shrī kundakundāchārya kr̥ut prākr̥it gāthābaddha kī deshabhāṣhāmay vachanikā kā hindī bhāṣhānuvād likhate haĩn. pratham kundakundāchārya granth kī ādimen iṣhṭa ko namaskārarūp maṅgal karake granth karane kī pratignā karate hainḥ–––

vīran visālaṇayaṇan rattuppalakomalassamappāyan.
tiviheṇ paṇamiūṇan sīlaguṇāṇan ṇisomeha.. 1..
vīran vishālanayanan raktotpalakomalasamapādam.
trividhen praṇamya shīlaguṇān nishābhyāmi.. 1..

arthaḥ––achārya kahate hain ki main vīr arthāt antim tīrthaṅkar shrī varddhamānasvāmī param bhaṭṭārak ko man vachan kāy se namaskār karake shīl arthāt nijabhāvarūp prakr̥iti usake guṇoṅko athavā shīl aur samyakdarshanādik guṇoṅko kahūn̐gā, kaise hain shrī varddhamānasvāmī–– vishāl nayan hain, unake bāhya men to padārthoṅko dekhane kā netra to vishāl hai, vistīrṇa hai, sundar hai aur antaraṅg men kevaladarshan kevalagnānarūp netra samsta padārthoṅko dekhane vāle hain aur ve kaise hain––––‘raktotpalakomalasamapādan’ arthāt unake charaṇ rakta kamal ke samān komal hain, aise anya ke nahīn hain, isaliye sabase prashansā karane yogya hain, pūjane yogya haĩn. isakā dūsarā artha aisā bhī hotā hai ki rakta arthāt ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

vistīrṇa lochan, raktakajakomal–supad shrī vīrane

rāgarūp ātmākā bhāv, utpal arthāt dūr karanemen, komal arthāt kaṭhoratādi doṣh rahit aur sam arthāt rāgadveṣh rahit, pād arthāt jinake vāṇī ke pad hain, jinake vachan komal hitamit madhur rāg–dveṣh rahit pravartate hain unase sabakā kalyāṇ hotā hai. bhāvārthaḥ––isaprakār varddhamān svāmī ko namaskārarūp maṅgal karake āchārya ne shīlapāhuḍ grantha karane kī pratīgnā kī hai.. 1.. āge shīl kā rūp tathā isase (gnān) guṇ hotā hai vah kahate hainḥ–––

sīlassa ya ṇāṇassa ya ṇatthi viroho budhehin ṇiddiṭṭho.
ṇavari ya sīleṇ viṇā visayā ṇāṇan viṇāsanti.. 2..
shīlasya cha gnānasya cha nāsti virodho budhaiḥ nirdiṣhṭaḥ.
kevalan cha shīlen vinā viṣhayāḥ gnānan vināshayanti.. 2..

arthaḥ
––shīl ke aur gnān ke gnāniyonne virodh nahīn kahā hai. aisā nahīn hai ki jahān̐
shīl ho vahān̐ gnān na ho aur gnān ho vahān̐ shīl na ho. yahān̐ ṇavari arthāt visheṣh hai vah
kahate hain–––shīlake binā viṣhay arthāt indriyoṅke viṣhay hain yah gnān ko naṣhṭa karate hain–––
gnān ko mithyātva rāgadveṣhamay agnānarūp karate haĩn.

yahān̐ aisā jānanā ki–––shīl nām svabhāvakā – prakr̥iti kā prasiddha hai, ātmā kā
sāmānyarūp se gnān svabhāv hai. is gnānasvabhāv men anādikarma sanyog se [parasaṅg karane kī
pravr̥utti se] mithyātva rāgadveṣharūp pariṇām hotā hai isaliye yah gnān kī pravr̥utti kushīl nām ko
prāpta karatī hai isase sansār banatā hai, isaliye isako sansār prakr̥iti kahate hain, is prakr̥iti ko
agnānarūp kahate hain, is kushīl prakr̥iti se sansār paryāy men apanatva mānatā hai tathā paradravyon men
iṣhṭa–aniṣhṭa buddhi karatā hai.

yah prakr̥iti palaṭe tab mithyātva abhāv kahā jāy, tab phir na sansār–paryāyamen apanatva mānatā hai, na paradravyommen iṣhṭa–aniṣhṭabuddhi hotī hai aur (pad anusār arthāt) is bhāv kī pūrṇatā na ho tab tak chāritramoh ke uday se (–uday men yukta honese) ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

na virodh bhākhyo gnānīoe shīlane ne gnānane;
viṣhayo kare chhe naṣhṭa kevaḷ shīlavirahit gnānane. 2.

shīlapāhuḍ][365 kuchh rāg–dveṣh kaṣhāy pariṇām utpanna hote hain unako karma kā uday jāne, un bhāvon ko tyāgane yogya jāne, tyāganā chāhe aisī prakr̥iti ho tab samyagdarshanarūp bhāv kahate hain, is samyagdarshan bhāv se gnān bhī samyak nām pātā hai aur pad ke anusār chāritra kī pravr̥utti ko sushīl kahate hain, isaprakār kushīl sushīl shabdakā sāmānya artha hai. sāmānyarūp se vichāre to gnān hī kushīl hai aur gnān hī sushīl hai, isaliye isaprakār kahā hai ki gnānake aur shīlake virodh nahīn hai, jab sansār–prakr̥iti palaṭ kar mokṣhasanmukh prakr̥iti ho tab sushīl kahate hain, isaliye gnānamen aur shīl men visheṣh nahīn kahā hai, yadi gnān men sushīl na āve to gnānako indriyon ke viṣhay naṣhṭa karate hain, gnān ko agnān karate hain tab kushīl nām pātā hai. yahān̐ koī pūchhe–––gāthā men gnān–agnān kā tathā sushīl–kushīlakā nām to nahīn kahā, gnān aur shīl aisā hī kahā hai, isakā samādhān–––pahile gāthā men aisī pratīgnā kī hai ki main shīl ke guṇon ko kahūn̐gā ataḥ is prakār jānā jātā hai ki āchārya ke āshay men sushīl hī ke kahane kā prayojan hai, sushīl hī ko shīlanām se kahate hain, shīl binā kushīl kahate haĩn. yahān̐ guṇ shabda upakāravāchak lenā tathā visheṣhavāchak lenā, shīlase upakār hotā hai tathā shīlake visheṣh guṇ hain vah kaheṅge. isaprakār gnānamen jo shīl na āve to kushīl hotā hai, indriyon ke viṣhayon se āsakti hotī hai tab vah gnān nām nahīn prāpta karatā, is prakār jānanā chāhiye. vyavahāramen shīlakā artha strī–sansarga varjan karane kā bhī hai, ataḥ viṣhay sevan kā hī niṣhedh hai. par dravya mātra kā sansarga chhoṛanā, ātmāmen līn honā vah paramabrahmacharya hai. isaprakār ye shīl hī ke nāmāntar jānanā.. 2..

āge kahate hain ki gnān hone par bhī gnān kī bhāvanā karanā aur viṣhayon se virakta honā kaṭhin hai [durlabh hai]ḥ––––

arthaḥ––pratham to gnān hī duḥkh se prāpta hotā hai, kadāchit gnān bhī prāpta kare to usako jānakar usakī bhāvanā karanā, bārambār anubhav karanā duḥkh se [–dr̥urḥatar samyak puruṣhārtha se] hotā hai aur kadāchit gnānakī bhāvanā sahit bhī jīv ho jāve to viṣhayon ko duḥkh se tyāgatā hai. bhāvārthaḥ––gnān kī prāpti karanā, phir usakī bhāvanā karanā, phir viṣhayon kā tyāg karanā ye, uttarottar durlabh hain aur viṣhayon kā tyāg kiye binā prakr̥iti palaṭī nahīn jātī hai, isaliye pahile aisā kahā hai ki viṣhay gnān ko bigāṛate hain ataḥ viṣhayon kā tyāganā hī sushīl hai.. 3.. āge kahate hain ki yah jīv jab tak viṣhayon men pravartatā hai tab tak gnān ko nahīn jānatā hai aur gnānako jāne binā viṣhayon se virakta ho to karmon kā kṣhay nahīn karatā haiḥ–––

tāv ṇa jāṇadi ṇāṇan visayabalo jāv vaṭṭae jīvo.
visae virattametto ṇa khavei purāiyan kamman.. 4..
tāvat na jānāti gnānan viṣhayabalaḥ yāvat varttate jīvaḥ.
viṣhaye virakta mātraḥ na kṣhipate purātanan karma.. 4..

arthaḥ–– jab tak yah jīv viṣhayabal arthāt viṣhayon ke vashībhūt rahatā hai tab tak gnān ko nahīn jānatā hai aur gnān ko jāne binā keval viṣhayon men viraktimātra hī ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

shīlapāhuḍ][367 se pahile bān̐dhe hue karmoṅkā kṣhay nahīn karatā hai. bhāvārthaḥ––jīvakā upayog kramavartī hai aur svastha (–svachchhatva) svabhāv hai ataḥ jaise gneyako jānatā hai us samay usase tanmay hokar varttatā hai, ataḥ jab tak viṣhayon men āsakta hokar varttatā hai tab tak gnān kā anubhav nahīn hotā hai, iṣhṭa–aniṣhṭa bhāv hī rahate hain aur gnānakā anubhav hue binā kadāchit viṣhayoṅko tyāge to vartamān viṣhayoṅko chhoṛe parantu pūrvakarma bān̐dhe the unakā to – gnānakā anubhav hue binā kṣhay nahīn hotā hai, pūrva karma bandh ko kṣhay karane men (svasanmukh) gnān hī kī sāmarthya hai isaliye gnān sahit hokar viṣhay tyāganā shreṣhṭha hai, viṣhayon ko tyāgakar gnānakī bhāvanā karanā yahī sushīl hai. āge gnān kā, liṅgagrahaṇ kā tathā tapakā anukram kahate hainḥ–––

ṇāṇan charittahīṇan liṅgaggahaṇan cha dansaṇ vihūṇan.
sañjam hīṇo ya tavo jai charai ṇiratthayan savvan.. 5..
gnānan chāritrahīnan liṅgagrahaṇan cha darshanavihīnan.
sanyamahīnan cha tapaḥ yadi charati nirarthaṅkan sarvam.. 5..

arthaḥ
––gnān yadi chāritra rahit ho to vah nirarthak hai aur liṅg kā grahaṇ yadi
darshanarahit ho to vah bhī nirarthak hai ta–ā sanyamarahit tap bhī nirarthak hai, is prakār ye
ācharaṇ kare to sab nirarthak haĩn.

bhāvārthaḥ–––hey–upādey kā gnān to ho aur tyāg–grahaṇ na kare to gnān niṣhphal
hai, yathārtha shraddhān ke binā bheṣh le to vah bhī niṣhphal hai, (svātmānubhūti ke bal dvārā)
indriyon ko vash men karanā, jīvon kī dayā karanā yah sanyam hai isake binā kuchh to kare to
ahinsādik kā viparyay ho tab tap bhī niṣhphal ho, is prrakār se inakā ācharaṇ niṣhphal
hotā hai.. 5..

āge isī liye kahate hain ki aisā karake thoṛā bhī kare to baṛā phal hotā haiḥ–––

arthaḥ
––gnān to chāritrase shuddha aur liṅgakā grahaṇ darshan se shuddha tathā sanyamasahit
tap, aise thoṛā bhī ācharaṇ kare to mahāphalarūp hotā hai.

bhāvārthaḥ––gnān thoṛā bhī ho aur ācharaṇ shuddha kare to baṛā phal ho aur yathārtha
shraddhānapūrvak bheṣh le to baṛā phal kare; jaise samyagdarshan sahit shrāvak hī ho to shreṣhṭha aur
usake binā munikā bheṣh bhī shreṣhṭha nahīn hai, indriy sanyam prāṇasanyam sahit upavāsādik tap
thoṛā bhī kare to baṛā hotā hai aur viṣhayābhilās tathā dayārahit baṛe kaṣhṭa sahit tap kare to
bhī phal nahīn hotā hai, aise jānanā.. 6..

āge kahate hain ki yadi koī gnānako jānakar bhī viṣhayāsakta rahate hain ve sansār hī men
bhramaṇ karate hainḥ–––
ṇāṇan ṇāūṇ ṇarā keī visayāi bhāv sansattā.
hiṇḍanti chāduragaddin visaesu vimohiyā mūḍhā.. 7..
gnānan gnātvā narāḥ kechit viṣhayādibhāv sansaktāḥ.
hiṇḍante chartugatin viṣhayeṣhu vimohitā mūḍhāḥ.. 7..

arthaḥ
––kaī mūrḥ mohī puruṣh gnānako jānakar bhī viṣhayarūp bhāvon men āsakta hote hue
chaturgatirūp sansār men bhramaṇ karate hain,kyoṅki viṣhayon se vimohit hone par ye phir bhī jagat men
prāpta hoṅge isamen bhī viṣhay–kaṣhayon kā hī sanskār hai.

bhāvārthaḥ––gnān prāpta karake viṣhay–kaṣhāy chhoṛanā achchhā hai, nahīn to gnān bhī agnān

je puṇ visayavirattā ṇāṇan ṇāūṇ bhāvaṇāsahidā.

ye punaḥ viṣhayaviraktāḥ gnānan gnātvā bhāvanāsahitāḥ.

arthaḥ
––jo gnān ko jānakar aur viṣhayon se virakta hokar gnānakī bārabār anubhavarūp
bhāvanā sahit hote hain ve tap aur guṇ arthāt mūlaguṇ uttaraguṇayukta hokar chaturgatirūp sansār
ko chhedate hain, isamen sandeh nahīn hai.

bhāvārthaḥ––gnān prāpta karake viṣhay–kaṣhāy chhoṛakar gnān kī bhāvanā kare, mūlaguṇ–
uttaraguṇ grahaṇ karake tap kare vah sansār kā abhāv karake muktirūp nirmaladashā ko prāpta
hotā hai––yah shīlasahit gnānarūp mārga hai.. 8..

āge isaprakār shīlasahit gnānase jīv shuddha hotā hai usakā dr̥uṣhṭānt kahate hainḥ–
jah kañchaṇan visuddhan dhammaiyan khaḍiyalavaṇaleveṇa.
tah jīvo vi visuddhan ṇāṇavisalileṇ vimaleṇa.. 9..
yathā kāñchanan vishuddhan dhamat khaṭikālavaṇalepena.
tathā jīvo‘pi vishuddhaḥ gnānavisalilen vimalena.. 9..

arthaḥ
––jaise kāñchan arthāt suvarṇa khaḍiyā arthāt suhāgā [– khaḍiyā kṣhār] aur namak
ke lep se vishuddha nirmal kāntiyukta hotā hai vaise hī jīv bhī viṣhay–kaṣhāyon ke malarahit
nirmal gnānarūp jalase prakṣhālit hokar karmarahit vishuddha hotā hai.

bhāvārthaḥ––gnān ātmākā pradhān guṇ hai parantu mithyātva viṣhayon se malin hai,

paṇ viṣhayamānhī virakta,jāṇī gnān, bhāvanayukta je,
niḥshaṅk te tap guṇ sahit chhede chaturgatibhramaṇane. 8.

dhamatān lavaṇ–khaḍī lepapūrvak kanak nirmaḷ thāy chhe,
tyam jīv paṇ suvishuddha gnānasalilathī nirmaḷ bane chhe. 9.

isaliye mithyātva viṣhayarūp mal ko dūr karake isakī bhāvanā kare, isakā ekāgratā se dhyān kare to karmon kā nāsh kare, anantachatuṣhṭay prāpta karake mukta ho shuddhātmā hotā hai, yahān̐ suvarṇa kā to dr̥uṣhṭānt hai vah jānanā.. 9.. āge kahate hain ki jo gnān pākar viṣhayāsakta hotā hai vah gnān kā doṣh nahīn hai, kupuruṣh kā doṣh haiḥ–––

ṇāṇassa ṇatthi doso kuppurisāṇan vi mandabuddhīṇan.
je ṇāṇagavvidā hoūṇan visaesu rajjanti.. 10..
gnānasya nāsti doṣhaḥ kāpuruṣhasyāpi mandabuddheḥ.
ye gnānagarvitāḥ bhūtvā viṣhayeṣhu rajjanti.. 10..

arthaḥ––jo puruṣh gnān garvit hokar gnān mad se viṣhayon men rañjit hote hain so yah gnān kā doṣh nahīn hai, ve mandabuddhi kupuruṣh hain unakā doṣh hai. bhāvārthaḥ––koī jāne kī gnān se bahut padārthon ko jāne tab viṣhayon men rañjāyamān hotā hai so yah gnān kā doṣh hai, yahān̐ āchārya kahate hain ki–– aise mat jāno, gnān prāpta karake viṣhayon men rañjāyamān hotā hai so yah gnān kā doṣh nahīn hai––yah puruṣh mandabuddhi hai aur kupuruṣh hai usakā doṣh hai, puruṣh kā honahār khoṭā hotā hai tab buddhi bigaṛ jātī hai, phir gnān ko prāpta kar usake mad men masta ho viṣhay–kaṣhāyon men āsakta ho jātā hai to yah doṣh–aparādh puruṣh kā hai, gnān kā nahīn hai. gnān kā kārya to vastu ko jaisī ho vaisī batā denā hī hai, pīchhe pravartanā to puruṣh kā kārya hai, isaprakār jānanā chāhiye.. 10.. āge kahate hain ki puruṣh ko is prakār nirvāṇ hotā haiḥ–––

ṇāṇeṇ dansaṇeṇ ya taveṇ charieṇ sammasahieṇa.
hohadi pariṇivvāṇan jīvānān charit suddhāṇan.. 11..

je gnānathī garvit banī viṣhayo mahīn rāche jano,

gnānen darshanen cha tapasā chāritreṇ samyaktvasahitena.
bhaviṣhyati parinirvāṇan jīvānān chāritrashuddhānām.. 11..

arthaḥ
––gnān darshan tap inakā samyaktvabhāv sahit ācharaṇ ho tab chāritra se shuddha
jīvoṅko nirvāṇ kī prāpti hotī hai.

bhāvārthaḥ––samyaktvasahit gnān darshan tap kā ācharaṇ kare tab chāritra shuddha ho kar rāg–dveṣhabhāv miṭ jāve tab nirvāṇ pātā hai, yah mārga hai.. 11.. [tap–shuddhopayogarūp munipanā, yah ho to 22 prakār vyavahār ke bhed haĩn.]

āge isī ko shīl kī mukhyatā dvārā niyam se nirvāṇ kahate hainḥ–––

sīlan rakkhantāṇan dansaṇasuddhāṇ diḍhacharittāṇan.
atthi dhuvan ṇivvāṇan visaesu viratta chittāṇan.. 12..
shīlan rakṣhatān darshanashuddhānān draḍhachāritrāṇām.
asti dhruvan nirvāṇan viṣhayeṣhu viraktachittānām.. 12..

arthaḥ––jin puruṣhon kā chitta viṣhayon se virakta hai, shīl kī rakṣhā karate hain, darshan se shuddha hain aur jinakā chāritra dr̥urḥ hai aise puruṣhon ko dhruv arthāt nishchayase–niyamase nirvāṇ hotā hai. bhāvārthaḥ––viṣhayon se virakta honā hī shīl kī rakṣhā hai, isaprakār se jo shīl kī rakṣhā karate hain unahī ke samyagdarshan shuddha hotā hai aur chāritra atichār rahit shuddha–dr̥urḥ hotā hai, ––– aise puruṣhoṅko niyam se nirvāṇ hotā hai. jo viṣhayon men āsakta hai, unake shīl bigaṛatā hai tab darshan shuddha na hokar chāritra shithil ho jātā hai, tab nirvāṇ bhī nahīn hotā hai, isaprakār nirvāṇ mārga men shīl hī pradhān hai.. 12.. āge kahate hain ki kadāchit koī virakta na huā aur ‘mārga’ viṣhayon se virakta hone rūp hī kahatā hai, usako mārga kī prāpti hotī bhī hai parantu jo viṣhay sevan ko hī ‘mārga’ kahatā hai to usakā gnān bhī nirarthak haiḥ––– ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

je shīlane rakṣhe, sudarshan shuddha draḍh chāritra je,
je viṣhayamānhī viraktaman, nishchit lahe nivārṇane. 12.

visaesu mohidāṇan kahyin maggan pi iṭṭhadarisīṇan.
ummaggan darisīṇan ṇāṇan pi ṇiratthayan tesĩn.. 13..
viṣhayeṣhu mohitānān kathito mārgo‘pi iṣhṭadarshinā̃n.
unmārga darshinān gnānamapi nirarthakan teṣhām.. 13..

arthaḥ
–– jo puruṣh iṣh1 mārga ko dikhāne vāle gnānī hain aur viṣhayon se vimohit hain to
bhī unako mārga kī prāpti kahī hai, parantu jo unmārga ko dikhāne vāle hain unako to gnān kī
prāpti bhī nirarthak hai.

bhāvārthaḥ––pahile kahā thā ki gnān ke aur shīl ke virodh nahīn hai. aur yah viṣhay hai
ki gnān ho aur viṣhayāsakta hokar gnān bigaṛe tab shīl nahīn hai. av yahān̐ is prakār kahā
hai ki–––gnān prāpta karake kadāchit chāritra moh ke uday se [–udayavash] viṣhay na chhūṭe
vahān̐ tak to unamen vimohit rahe aur mārga kī prarūpaṇā kare viṣhayoṅke tyāg rūp hī kare
usako to mārga kī prāpti hotī bhī hai, parantu jo mārga hī ko kumārgarūp prarūpaṇ kare viṣhay–
sevan ko sumārga batāve to usakī to gnān–prāpti bhī niratharra hī hai, gnān prāpta karake bhī
mithyāmārga prarūpe usake gnān kaisā? vah gnān mithyāgnān hai.

yahān̐ āshay sūchit hotā hai ki––āmyaktvasahit avirat samyakdr̥uṣhṭi to achchhā hai
kyoṅki samyagdr̥uṣhṭi kumārga kī prarūpaṇā nahīn karatā, apane ko [chāritradoṣh se] chāritramoh kā
uday prabal ho tab tak viṣhay nahīn chhūṭate hai isaliye avirat hai, parantu jo samyagdr̥uṣhṭi nahīn hai
aur gnān bhī baṛā ho, kuchh ācharaṇ bhī kare, viṣhay bhī chhoṛe aur kumārga kā prarūpaṇ kare to
vah achchhā nahīn hai, usakā gnān aur viṣhay chhoṛanā nirarthak hai, isaprakār jānanā chāhiye..
13..

āge kahate hain ki jo unmārga ke prarūpaṇ karane vāle kumat kushāstra kī prashansā karate

hain, ve bahut shāstra jānate hai to bhī shīlavratagnān se rahit hain, unake ārādhan nahīn haiḥ––– ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

chhe iṣhṭadarshī mārgamān, ho viṣhayamān mohit bhale;
unmārgadarshī jīvanun je gnān te ya nirartha chhe. 13.

kumayakusudapasansā jāṇantā bahuvihāī satthāin.
shīlavadaṇāṇ rahidā ṇa hu te ārādhayā honti.. 14..
kumatakushrutaprashansakāḥ jānanto bahuvidhāni shāstrāṇi.
shīlavratagnānarahitā na sphuṭan te ārādhakā bhavanti.. 14..

arthaḥ––jo bahut prakārake shāstron ko jānate hain aur kumat kushāstrakī prashansā karane vāle hain ve shīlavrat aur gnān rahit hain ve inake ārādhak nahīn haĩn. bhāvārthaḥ––ho bahut shāstron ko jānakar gnān ko bahut jānate hain aur kumat kushāstron kī prashansā karate hain to jāno kī inake kumat se aur kushāstra se rāg hai–prīti hai tab unakī prashansā karate hain––ye to mithyātva ke chinha hain, jahān̐ mithyātva hai vahān̐ gnān bhī mithyā hai aur viṣhay–kaṣhāyon se rahit hone ko shīl kahate hain vah bhī unake nahīn hai, vrat bhī unake nahīn hai, kadāchit koī vratācharaṇ karate hain to bhī mithyāchāritrarūp hai, isaliye darshan–gnān–chāritra ke ārādhane vāle nahīn hain, mithyādr̥uṣhṭi haĩn.. 14.. āge kahate hain ki yadi rūp sundarādik sāmagrī prāpta kare aur shīl rahit ho to usakā manuṣhya janma nirarthak haiḥ–––

ruvasirigavvidāṇan juvvaṇalāvaṇṇakantikalidāṇan.
sīlaguṇavajjidāṇan ṇiratthayan māṇusan jamma.. 15..

rupashrīgarvitānān yauvanalāvaṇyakāntikalitānām. shīl guṇavarjitānān nirarthakan mānuṣhan janma.. 15..

arthaḥ––jo puruṣh yauvan avasthā sahit hain aur bahuton ko priy lagate hain aise lāvaṇya sahit hain, sharīr kī kānti–prabhā se maṇḍit hain aur sundar rūp lakṣhmī sampadā se garvit hain, madonmatta hain , parantu ve yadi shīl auer guṇon se rahit hain to unakā manuṣhya janam nirarthak hai. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

durmat–kushāstra prashansako jāṇe vividh shāstro bhale,
vrat–shīl–gnānavihīn chhe tethī na ārādhak khare. 14.

ho rūpashrī garvit, bhale lāvaṇya yauvan kānti ho,
mānav janma chhe niṣhprayojan shīlaguṇavarjit taṇo. 15.

samyagdarshan–gnān–chāritrase rahit hain aur yauvan avasthā men sharīr kī lāvaṇyatā kāntirūp sundar, dhan, sampadā prāpta karake inake garva se madonmatta rahet hain to unhonne manuṣhya janma niṣhphal khoyā, manuṣhyajanma men samyagdarshanādik kā aṅgīkār karanā aur shīl sanyam pālanā yogay thā, vah to aṅgīkār kiyā nahīn tab niṣhphal hī gayā.

aisā bhī batāyā hai ki pahilī gāthā men kumat kushāstra kī prashansā karanevāle kā gnān nirarthak kahā thā vaise hī yahān̐ rūpādik kā mad karo to yah bhī mithyātva kā chinha hai, jo mad kare use mithyādr̥uṣhṭi hī jānanā tathā lakṣhmīrūp yauvan kānti se maṇḍit ho aur shīlarahit vyabhichārī ho to usakī lok men nindā hī hotī hai.. 15.. āge kahate hain ki bahut shāstroṅkā gnān hote hue bhī shīl hī uttam haiḥ–––

vāyaraṇ chhand vaisesiyavavahāraṇāyasatthesu.
vedeūṇ sudesu ya tesu suyan uttam shīlan.. 16..
vyākaraṇachhando vaisheṣhikavyavahāranyāyashāstreṣhu.
viditvā shruteṣhu cha teṣhu shrutan uttaman shīlam.. 16..
arthaḥ––vyākaraṇ, chhahad, vaisheṣhik, vyavahār, nyāyashāstra–––ye shāstra aur shrut arthāt
jināgam inamen un vyākaraṇādik ko aur shrut arthāt jināgam ko jānakar bhī, inamen shīl
ho vahī uttam hai.

bhāvārthaḥ––vyākaraṇādi shāstra jāne aur jināgam ko bhī jāne to bhī unamen shīl hī
uttam hai. shāstron ko jānakar bhī viṣhayon men hī āsakta hai to un shāstron kā jānanā vr̥uthā hai,
uttam nahīn hai.. 16..

āge kahate hain ki jo shīlaguṇ se maṇḍit hai ve devon ke bhī vallabh hainḥ–––

vyākaraṇ, chhando, nyāy, vaisheṣhik vyavahārādinān,

sīlaguṇamaṇḍidāṇan devā bhaviyāṇ vallahā honti.
sudapārayapaurā ṇan dussīlā appilā loe.. 17..
shīlaguṇamaṇḍitānān devā bhavyānān vallabhā bhavanti.
shrutapārag prachurāḥ ṇan duḥshīlā alpakāḥ loke.. 17..
arthaḥ–– jo bhavya prāṇī shīl aur samyagdarshan guṇ athavā shīl vahī guṇ usase maṇḍit
hain unakā dev bhī vallabh hotā hai, unakī sevā karane vāle sahāyak hote haĩn. jo shrutapārag
arthāt shāstra ke pār pahun̐che hain, gyārah aṅg tak parḥe hain aise bahut hain aur unamen kaī shīlaguṇ
se rahit hain, duḥshīl hain, viṣhay–kaṣhāyon men asakta hain to ve lok men ‘alpakā’ arthāt nyūn hain,
ve manuṣhyon ke bhī priy nahīn hote hain tab dev kahān̐ se sahāyak hon?

bhāvārthaḥ––shāstra bahut jāne aur viṣhayāsakta ho to usakā koī sahāyak na ho, chor
aur anyāyakī lokamen koī sahāyatā nahīn karatā hai, parantu shīlaguṇ se maṇḍit ho aur gnān
thoṛā bhī ho to usake upakārī sahāyak dev bhī hote hain tab manuṣhya to sahāyak hote hī haĩn.
shīl guṇavālā sabakā pyārā hotā hai.. 17..

āge kahate hain ki jine shīl hai––sushīl hain unakā manuṣhya bhav men jīnā saphal hai
achchhā haiḥ–––
savve vi ya parihīṇā rupaviruvā vi paḍidasuvayā vi.
sīlan jesu susīlan sujīvidan māṇusan tesĩn.. 18..
sarve‘pi cha parihīnāḥ rupavirupā api patit suvayaso‘pi.
shīlan yeṣhu sushīlan sujīvidan mānuṣhyan teṣhām.. 18..

arthaḥ––jo sab prāṇiyon men hīn hai, kulādik se nyūn hai aur rūp se virūp hai sundar nahīn hai, ‘patitasuvayasaḥ’ arthāt avasthā se sundar nahīn hai, vr̥uddha ho gaye hain, ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

re! shīlaguṇamaṇḍit bhavikanā dev vallabh hoy chhe;
loke kushīl jano, bhale shrutapāragat ho, tuchchha chhe. 17.

sauthī bhale ho hīn, rūpavirūp, yauvanabhraṣhṭa ho,
mānuṣhya tenun chhe sujīvit, shīl jenun sushīl ho. 18.

parantu jinamen shīl sushīl hai, svabhāv uttam hai, kaṣhāyādik kī āsaktatā nahīn hai unakā manuṣhyapanā sujīvit hai, jīnā achchhā hai. bhāvārthaḥ––lok men sab sāmagrī se jo nyūn hai parantu svabhāv uttam hai, viṣhayakaṣhayon men āsakta nahīn hai to ve uttam hī hain, unakā manuṣhyabhav saphal hai, unakā jīvan prashansā ke yogya hai.. 18.. āge kahate hain ki jitane bhī bhale kārya hain ve sab shīl ke parivār hainḥ–––

jīvadayā dam sachchan achoriyan bambhacher santose.
sammaddansaṇ ṇāṇan taoy sīlassa parivāro.. 19..
jīvadayā damaḥ satyan achaurya brahmacharya santoṣhau.
samyagdarshan gnān tapashya shīlasya parivāraḥ.. 19..

arthaḥ
–––jīv dayā, indriyon kā daman, satya, achaurya, brahmacharya, santoṣh, samyagdarshan,
gnān, tap–––ye sab shīl ke parivār haĩn.

bhāvārthaḥ––shīlasvabhāv kā tathā prakr̥iti kā nām prasiddha hai. mithyātva sahit kaṣhayarūp
gnānakī pariṇati to duḥshīl hai, isako sansāraprakr̥iti kahate hain, yah prakr̥iti palaṭe aur samyak
prakr̥iti ho vah sushīl hai, isako mokṣhasanmukh prakr̥iti kahate haĩn. aise sushīl ke ‘jīvadayādik’
gāthā men kahe ve sab hī parivār hain, kyoṅki sansāraprakr̥iti palaṭe tab sansār deh se vairāgya ho
aur mokṣha se anurāg ho tab hī samyagdarshanādik pariṇām hon, phir jitanī prakr̥iti ho vah sab
mokṣhake sanmukh ho, yahī sushīl hai. jisake sansārakā ant ātā hai usake yah prakr̥iti hotī hai
aur yah prakr̥iti na ho tab tak sansār bhramaṇ hī hai, aise jānanā.. 19..

āge shīl hī tap ādik hai aise shīlakī mahimā kahate hainḥ–––

prāṇīdayā, dam, satya, brahma achaurya ne santuṣhṭatā,
