तथैव ज्ञानज्ञेयविकल्पाभावात् सोऽयमात्मात्मनि तिष्ठति । हंहो प्राथमिकशिष्य अग्निवदयमात्मा किमचेतनः । किं बहुना । तमात्मानं ज्ञानं न जानाति चेद् देवदत्त- रहितपरशुवत् इदं हि नार्थक्रियाकारि, अत एव आत्मनः सकाशाद् व्यतिरिक्तं भवति । तन्न खलु सम्मतं स्वभाववादिनामिति ।
te (viparīt vitarka — prāthamik shiṣhyano abhiprāy) kayā prakāre chhe? (te ā prakāre chheḥ — ) ‘pūrvoktasvarūp (gnānasvarūp) ātmāne ātmā kharekhar jāṇato nathī, svarūpamān avasthit rahe chhe ( – ātmāmān mātra sthit rahe chhe). jevī rīte uṣhṇatāsvarūp agninā svarūpane (arthāt agnine) shun agni jāṇe chhe? (nathī ja jāṇato.) tevī ja rīte gnānagney sambandhī vikalpanā abhāvathī ā ātmā ātmāmān (mātra) sthit rahe chhe ( – ātmāne jāṇato nathī).’
(uparokta vitarkano uttaraḥ — ) ‘he prāthamik shiṣhya! agninī māphak shun ā ātmā achetan chhe (ke jethī te potāne na jāṇe)? vadhāre shun kahevun? (saṅkṣhepamān,) jo te ātmāne gnān na jāṇe to te gnān, devadatta vinānī kuhāḍīnī māphak, *arthakriyākārī na ṭhare, ane tethī te ātmāthī bhinna ṭhare! te to (arthāt gnān ne ātmānī sarvathā bhinnatā to) kharekhar svabhāvavādīone sammat nathī. (māṭe nakkī kar ke gnān ātmāne jāṇe chhe.)’
evī rīte (āchāryavar) shrī guṇabhadrasvāmīe (ātmānushāsanamān 174mā shlok dvārā) kahyun chhe keḥ —
‘‘[shlokārthaḥ — ] ātmā gnānasvabhāv chhe; svabhāvanī prāpti te achyuti (avināshī
*arthakriyākārī = prayojanabhūt kriyā karanārun. (jem devadatta vagaranī ekalī kuhāḍī arthakriyā
— kāpavānī kriyā — karatī nathī, tem jo gnān ātmāne jāṇatun na hoy to gnāne paṇ arthakriyā
— jāṇavānī kriyā — na karī; tethī jem arthakriyāshūnya kuhāḍī devadattathī bhinna chhe tem arthakriyāshūnya
gnān ātmāthī bhinna hovun joīe! parantu te to spaṣhṭapaṇe viruddha chhe. māṭe gnān ātmāne jāṇe
ja chhe.)
