arthaḥ– satpuruṣhone dān devāthī kalpatarunī jem shobhā paṇ thāy chhe ane manavāñchhit phaḷanī prāpti paṇ thāy chhe. lobhī, pāpī puruṣhone dān āpavāthī maḍadānī ṭhāṭhaḍīnī jem shobhā to thāy paṇ duḥkh paṇ thāy chhe. jem ke maḍadānī ṭhāṭhaḍī shaṇagārīne kāḍhavāthī lokamān kīrti thāy paṇ gharanā svāmīne duḥkh āpanār bane chhe, evī ja rīte apātra vagerene dān āpavāthī sansāramān loko to vakhāṇ kare chhe paṇ tenun phaḷ kharāb ja thāy chhe, sārun thatun nathī. 171.
तस्मादतिथिवितरणं हिंसाप्युपरमणमेवेष्टम्।। १७२।।
anvayārthaḥ– [यतः] kāraṇ ke [अत्र दाने] ahīn dānamān [हिंसायाः] hinsānā [पर्यायः] paryāy [लोभः] lobhano [निरस्यते] nāsh karavāmān āve chhe, [तस्मात्] tethī [अतिथिवितरणं] atithidānane [हिंसाव्युपरमणमेव] hinsāno tyāg ja [इष्टम्] kahyo chhe.
ṭīkāḥ– ‘यतः अत्र दाने हिंसायाः पर्यायः लोभः तिरस्यते तस्मात् अतिथि वितरणं हिंसाव्युपरमणं एव इष्टम्।’ arthaḥ–ā dānamān hinsāno ek bhed je lobh chhe teno tyāg thāy chhe tethī atithi pātrane dān devun te hinsāno ja tyāg chhe.
bhāvārthaḥ– kharekhar jyāre āpaṇo antaraṅg kaṣhāy je lobh chhe teno tyāg thāy chhe tyāre ja āpaṇā pariṇām bāhya vastumān vitaraṇ karavānā thāy chhe, tethī lobh kaṣhāyano tyāg ja kharun dān chhe ane lobh kaṣhāy bhāvahinsāno ek bhed chhe, tethī je satpuruṣh dān kare chhe teo ja kharī rīte ahinsāvrat pāḷe chhe. 172.
anvayārthaḥ– [यः] je gr̥uhastha [गृहमागताय] gher āvelā [गुणिने] sanyamādi guṇavān evā ane [मधुकरवृत्या] bhramar samān vr̥uttithī [परान्] bījāone [अपीडयते] pīḍā na devāvāḷā [अतिथये] atithi sādhune [न वितरति] bhojanādi deto nathī, [सः] te [लोभवान्] lobhī [कथं] kem [न हि भवति] na hoy?
