adhyavasAnamev bandhahetuH, na tu bAhyavastu, tasya bandhahetoradhyavasAnasya hetutvenaiv charitArthatvAt . tarhi kimartho bAhyavastupratiShedhaH ? adhyavasAnapratiShedhArthaH . adhyavasAnasya hi bAhyavastu AshrayabhUta.n; na hi bAhyavastvanAshritya adhyavasAnamAtmAna.n labhate . yadi bAhyavastvanAshrityApi adhyavasAna.n jAyet tadA, yathA vIrasUsutasyAshrayabhUtasya sadbhAve
aur bhI aisI sha.nkA na karanI ki ‘bAhyavastu vah dUsarA bhI bandhakA kAraN hogA’ . (‘adhyavasAy bandhakA ek kAraN hogA aur bAhyavastu bandhakA dUsarA kAraN hogA’ aisI bhI sha.nkA karane yogya nahI.n hai; adhyavasAy hI ekamAtra bandhakA kAraN hai, bAhyavastu nahI.n .) isI arthakI gAthA ab kahate hai.n : —
