तथैव ज्ञानज्ञेयविकल्पाभावात् सोऽयमात्मात्मनि तिष्ठति । हंहो प्राथमिकशिष्य अग्निवदयमात्मा किमचेतनः । किं बहुना । तमात्मानं ज्ञानं न जानाति चेद् देवदत्त- रहितपरशुवत् इदं हि नार्थक्रियाकारि, अत एव आत्मनः सकाशाद् व्यतिरिक्तं भवति । तन्न खलु सम्मतं स्वभाववादिनामिति ।
te (viparIt vitarka — prAthamik shiShyano abhiprAy) kayA prakAre chhe? (te A prakAre chhe — ) ‘pUrvoktasvarUp (gnAnasvarUp) AtmAne AtmA kharekhar jANato nathI, svarUpamAn avasthit rahe chhe ( – AtmAmAn mAtra sthit rahe chhe). jevI rIte uShNatAsvarUp agninA svarUpane (arthAt agnine) shun agni jANe chhe? (nathI ja jANato.) tevI ja rIte gnAnagney sambandhI vikalpanA abhAvathI A AtmA AtmAmAn (mAtra) sthit rahe chhe ( – AtmAne jANato nathI).’
(uparokta vitarkano uttara — ) ‘he prAthamik shiShya! agninI mAphak shun A AtmA achetan chhe (ke jethI te potAne na jANe)? vadhAre shun kahevun? (sankShepamAn,) jo te AtmAne gnAn na jANe to te gnAn, devadatta vinAnI kuhADInI mAphak, *arthakriyAkArI na Thare, ane tethI te AtmAthI bhinna Thare! te to (arthAt gnAn ne AtmAnI sarvathA bhinnatA to) kharekhar svabhAvavAdIone sammat nathI.
