gandhavarṇapr̥gthabhūtapudgalavadguṇairvinā dravyaṁ na saṁbhavati. tato dravyaguṇānāmapyādeśavaśāt
kathaṁcidbhede‘pyekāstitvaniyatatvādanyonyājahadvr̥ttīnāṁ vastutvenābhed iti.. 13..

siy atthi ṇatthi uhayaṁ avvattavvaṁ puṇo ya tattidayaṁ.
davvaṁ khu satabhaṁgaṁ
ādesavaseṇ saṁbhavadi.. 14..
syādasti nāstyubhayamavaktavyaṁ punaśca tattritayam.
dravyaṁ khalu saptabhaṅgamādeśavaśen sambhavati.. 14..
atra dravyasyādeśavaśenoktā saptabhaṅgī.
syādasti dravyaṁ, syānnāsti dravyaṁ, syādasti ca nāsti ca dravyaṁ, syādavaktavyaṁ dravyaṁ, syādasti
cāvaktavyaṁ ca dravyaṁ, syānnāsti cāvaktavyaṁ ca dravyaṁ, syādasti ca nāsti cāvaktavyaṁ ca dravyamiti. atra
sarvathātvaniṣedhako

nahīṁ hotā. isaliye, dravya aur guṇoṁkā ādeśavaśāt kathaṁcit bhed hai tathāpi, ve ek astitvameṁ
niyat honeke kāraṇ anyonyavr̥tti nahīṁ choṛate isalie vasturūpase unakā bhī abhed hai [arthāt dravya
aur paryāyoṁkī bhān̐ti dravya aur guṇoṁkā bhī vasturūpase abhed hai].. 13..

anvayārthaḥ– [dravyaṁ] dravya [ādeśavaśen] ādeśavaśāt [–kathanake vaś] [khul] vāstavameṁ
[syāt asti] syāt asti, [nāsti] syāt nāsti, [ubhayam] syāt asti–nāsti,
[avaktavyam] syāt avaktavya [punaḥ ca] aur phir [tattritayam] avaktavyatāyukta tīn bhaṁgavālā [–
syāt asti–avaktavya, syāt nāsti–avaktavya aur syāt asti–nāsti–avaktavya] [–saptadhaṅgam]
isaprakār sāt bhaṁgavālā [sambhavati] hai.
ṭīkāḥ– yahān̐ dravyake ādeśake vaś saptabhaṁgī kahī hai.
[1] dravya ‘syāt asti’ hai; [2] dravya ‘syāt nāsti’ hai; [3] dravya ‘syāt asti aur

bhāvassa ṇatthi ṇāso ṇatthi abhāvassa cev uppādo.
guṇapañjayesu bhāvā uppādavae pakuvvaṁti.. 15..
bhāvasya nāsti nāśo nāsti abhāvasya caiv utpādaḥ.
guṇaparyāyeṣu bhāvā utpādavyayān prakurvanti.. 15..

bhāvārthaḥ– [1] dravya svacatuṣṭayakī apekṣāse ‘hai’. [2] dravya paracatuṣṭayakī apekṣāse ‘nahīṁ hai’.
[3] dravya kramaśaḥ svacatuṣṭayakī aur paracatuṣṭayakī apekṣāse ‘hai aur nahīṁ hai’. [4] dravya yugapad
svacatuṣṭayakī aur paracatuṣṭayakī apekṣāse ‘avaktavya hai’. [5] dravya svacatuṣṭayakī aur yugapad
svaparacatuṣṭayakī apekṣāse ‘hai aur avaktavya haie’. [6] dravya paracatuṣṭayakī, aur yugapad
svaparacatuṣṭayakī apekṣāse ‘nahīṁ aur avaktavya hai’. [7] dravya svacatuṣṭayakī, paracatuṣṭayakī aur
yugapad svaparacatuṣṭayakī apekṣāse ‘hai, nahīṁ hai aur avaktavya hai’. – isaprakār yahān̐ saptabhaṁgī kahī gaī

anvayārthaḥ– [bhāvasya] bhāvakā [satkā] [nāśaḥ] nāś [na asti] nahīṁ hai [ca ev] tathā
[abhāvasya] abhāvakā [asatkā] [utpādaḥ] utpād [na asti] nahīṁ hai; [bhāvāḥ] bhāv [sat
dravyoṁ] [guṇaparyāyaṣu] guṇaparyāyoṁmeṁ [utpādavyayān] utpādavyay [prakr̥rvanti] karate haiṁ.

svadravya, svakṣetra, svakāl aur svabhāvako svacatuṣṭay kahā jātā hai . svadravya arthāt nij guṇaparyāyoṁke
ādhārabhūt vastu svayaṁ; svakṣetra arthāt vastukā nij vistār arthāt svapradeśasamūh; svakāl arthāt vastukī
apanī vartamān paryāy; svabhāv arthāt nijaguṇ– svaśakti.
nahi ‘bhāv’ kero nāś hoy, ‘abhāv’no utpād nā;
‘bhāvo’ kare che nāś ne utpād guṇaparyāyamāṁ. 15.

atrāsatprādurbhāvatvamutpādasya saducchedatvaṁ vigamasya niṣiddham.
bhāvasya sato hi dravyasya na dravyatven vināśaḥ, abhāvasyāsato‘nyadravyasya na dravyatvenotpādaḥ.
kintu bhāvāḥ santi dravyāṇi saducchedamasadutpādaṁ cāntareṇaiv guṇaparyāyeṣu vināśamutpādaṁ cārabhante. yathā
hi ghr̥totpatau gorasasya sato na vināśaḥ na cāpi gorasavyatiriktasyārthāntarasyāsataḥ utpādaḥ kintu
gorasasyaiv saducchedamasadutpādaṁ cānupalabh–mānasya sparśarasagandhavarṇādiṣu pariṇāmiṣu guṇeṣu
pūrvāvasthayā vinaśyatsūttarāvasthayā prādarbhavatsu naśyati ca navanītaparyāyo ghatr̥paryāy utpadyate, tathā
sarvabhāvānāmapīti.. 15..

ṭīkāḥ–
yahān̐ utpādameṁ asatke prādurbhāvakā aur vyayameṁ satke vināśakā niṣedh kiyā hai
[arthāt utpād honese kahīṁ asatkī utpatti nahīṁ hotī aur vyay honese kahīṁ satkā vināś nahīṁ
hotā ––aisā is gāthāmeṁ kahā hai].
bhāvakā–sat dravyakā–dravyarūpase vināś nahīṁ hai, abhāvakā –asat anyadravyakā –dravyarūpase
utpād nahīṁ hai; parantu bhāv–sat dravyoṁ, satke vināś aur asatke utpād binā hī, guṇaparyāyoṁmeṁ
vināś aur utpād karate haiṁ. jisaprakār ghīkī utpattimeṁ gorasakā–satkā–vināś nahīṁ hai tathā
gorasase bhinna padārthāntarakā–asatkā–utpād nahīṁ hai, kintu gorasako hī, satkā vināś aur
asatkā utpād kiye binā hī, pūrva avasthāse vināś prāpta hone vāle aur uttar avasthāse utpanna
hone vāle sparśa–ras–gaṁdh–varṇādik pariṇāmī guṇoṁmeṁ makkhanaparyāy vināśako prāpta hotī hai tathā
ghīparyāy utpanna hotī hai; usīprakār sarva bhāvoṁkā bhī vaisā hī hai [arthāt samasta dravyoṁko navīn
paryāyakī utpattimeṁ satkā vināś nahīṁ hai tathā asatkā utpād nahīṁ hai, kintu satkā vināś aur
asatkā utpād kiye binā hī, pahalekī [purānī] avasthāse vināśako prāpta honevāle aur bādakī
[navīn] avasthāse utpanna honevāle
pariṇāmī guṇoṁmeṁ pahalekī paryāy vināś aur bādakī paryāyakī
utpatti hotī hai].. 15..

bhāvā jīvādyā jīvaguṇāścetanā copayogaḥ.
suranaranārakatiryañco jīvasya ca paryāyāḥ bahavaḥ.. 16..
atra bhāvaguṇaparyāyāḥ prajñāpitāḥ.
bhāvā hi jīvādayaḥ ṣaṭ padārthāḥ. teṣāṁ guṇāḥ paryāyāśca prasiddhāḥ. tathāpi jīvasya
vakṣyamāṇodāharaṇaprasiddhayatharmabhidhīyante. guṇā hi jīvasya jñānānubhūtilakṣaṇā śuddhacetanā,
kāryānubhūtilakṣaṇā karmaphalānubhūtilakṣaṇā cāśuddhacetanā, caitanyānuvidhāyipariṇāmalakṣaṇaḥ sa–
vikalpanirvikalparūpaḥ śuddhāśuddhatayā sakalavikalatāṁ

anvayārthaḥ–
[jīvādyāḥ] jīvādi [dravya] ve [bhāvāḥ] ‘bhāv’ haiṁ. [jīvaguṇāḥ] jīvake guṇ
[cetanā ca upayogaḥ] cetanā tathā upayog haiṁ [ca] aur [jīvasya paryāyāḥ] jīvakī paryāyeṁ
[suranaranārakatiryañcaḥ] dev–manuṣya–nārak–tiryaṁcarūp [bahavaḥ] anek haiṁ.
ṭīkāḥ– yahā bhāvoṁ [dravyoṁ], guṇoṁṁ aur paryāyeṁ batalāye haiṁ.
jīvādi chah padārtha ve ‘bhāv’ haiṁ. unake guṇ aur paryāyeṁ prasiddha haiṁ, tathāpi 1āge [agalī
gāthāmeṁ] jo udāharaṇ denā hai usakī prasiddhike hetu jīvake guṇoṁ aur paryāyoṁ kathan kiyā jātā
haiḥ–
jīvake guṇoṁ 2jñānānubhūtisvarūp śuddhacetanā tathā kāryānubhūtisvarūp aur karmaphalānubhūti–
svarūp aśuddhacetanā hai aur 3caitanyānuvidhāyī–pariṇāmasvarūp, savikalpanirvikalparūp, śuddhatā–

1. agalī gāthāmeṁ jīvakī bāt udāharaṇake rūpameṁ lenā hai, isaliye us udāharaṇako prasiddha karaneke liye yahān̐
jīvake guṇoṁ aur paryāyoṁkā kathan kiyā gayā hai.
2. śuddhacetanā jñānakī anubhūtisvarūp hai aur aśuddhacetanā karmakī tathā karmaphalakī anubhūtisvarūp hai.
3. caitanya–anuvidhāyī pariṇām arthāt caitanyakā anusaraṇ karanevālā pariṇām vah upayog hai. savikalpa
upayogako jñān aur nirvikalpa upayogako darśan kahā jātā hai. jñānopayogake bhedoṁmeṁse mātra kevajñān hī śuddha
honese sakal [akhaṇḍa, paripūrṇa] hai aur anya sab aśuddha honese vikal [khaṇḍit, apūrṇa] haiṁ;
darśanopayogake bhedoṁmese mātra kevaladarśan hī śuddha honese sakal hai aur anya sab aśuddha honese vikal haiṁ.

jīvādi sau che ‘bhāv,’ jīvaguṇ cetanā upayog che;
jīvaparyayo tiryaṁc–nārak–dev–manuj anek che. 16.

dadhāno dvedhopayogaśca. paryāyāstvagurulaghuguṇahānivr̥ddhinirvr̥ttāḥ śuddhāḥ, sūtropāttāstu suranārak–
tiryaṅmanuṣlakṣaṇāḥ paradravyasambandhanirvr̥ttatvādaśuddhāśceti.. 16..
maṇusattaṇeṇ ṇaṭhṭho dehī devo havedi idaro vā.
ubhayattha jīvabhāvo ṇa ṇassadi ṇa jāyade aṇṇo.. 17..
manuṣyatven naṣṭo dehī devo bhavatītaro vā.
ubhayatra jīvabhāvo na naśyati na jāyate‘nyaḥ.. 17..
idaṁ bhāvanāśābhāvotpādaniṣedhodāharaṇam.

aśuddhatāke kāraṇ sakalatā–vikalatā dhāraṇ karanevālā, do prakārakā upayog hai [arthāt jīvake
guṇoṁ śuddha–aśuddha cetanā tathā do prakārake upayog haiṁ].
jīvakī paryāyeṁ isaprakār haiṁḥ–– agurulaghuguṇakī hānivr̥ddhise utpanna paryāyeṁ śuddha paryāyeṁ haiṁ aur
sutrameṁ [–is gāthāmeṁ] kahī huī, dev–nārak–tiryaṁc–manuṣyasvarūp paryāyeṁ paradravyake sambandhase utpanna
hotī hai isaliye aśuddha paryāyeṁ haiṁ.. 16..
gāthā 17
anvayārthaḥ– [manuṣyatven] manuṣyapatvase [naṣṭaḥ] naṣṭa huā [dehī] dehī [jīv]
[devaḥ vā itaraḥ] dev athavā anya [bhavati] hotā hai; [ubhayatra] un donoṁmeṁ [jīvabhāvaḥ] jīvabhāv
[na naśyati] naṣṭa nahīṁ hotā aur [anyaḥ] dūsarā jīvabhāv [na jāyate] utpanna nahīṁ hotā.
ṭīkāḥ– ‘bhāvakā nāś nahīṁ hotā aur abhāvakā utpād nahīṁ hotā’ usakā yah udāharaṇ hai.

manuṣyatvalakṣaṇen paryāyeṇ vinaśyati jīvaḥ, tathāvidhen devatvalakṣaṇen nārakatiryaktvalakṣaṇen vānyen
paryāyeṇotpadyate. na ca manuṣyatven nāśe jīvatvenāpi naśyati, devatvādinotpāde jīvatvenāpyutpadyateḥ
kiṁ tu saducchedamasadutpādamantareṇaiv tathā vivartat iti..17..
so cev jādi maraṇaṁ jādi ṇa ṇaṭhṭho ṇa cev uppaṇṇo.
uppaṇṇo ya viṇaṭṭho devo maṇusu tti pajjāo.. 18..
sa ca ev yāti maraṇaṁ yāti na naṣṭo na caivotpannaḥ.
utpannaśca vinaṣṭo devo manuṣya iti paryāyaḥ.. 18..
atra kathaṁcidvayayotpādavattve‘pi dravyasya sadāvinaṣṭānutpannatvaṁ khyāpitam.
yadev pūrvottaraparyāyavivekasaṁparkāpāditāmubhayīmavasthāmātmasātkurvāṇamucchidyamānamutpadya–mānaṁ ca

pratisamay honevālī aguruladhuguṇakī hānivr̥ddhise utpanna honevālī svabhāvaparyāyoṁkī saṁtatikā
vicched na karanevālī ek sopādhik manuṣyatvasvarūp paryāyase jīv vināśako prāpta hotā hai aur
tathāvidh [–svabhāvaparyāyoṁke pravāhako na toṛanevālī sopādhik] devatvasvarūp, nārakatvasvarūp yā
tiryaṁcatvasvarūp anya paryāyase utpanna hotā hai. vahān̐ aisā nahīṁ hai ki manuṣyapatvase vinaṣṭa honepar
jīvatvase bhī naṣṭa hotā hai aur devatvase ādise utpād honepar jīvatva bhī utpanna hotā hai, kintu
satke ucched aur asatke utpād binā hī tadanusār vivartan [–parivartan, pariṇaman] karatā hai..

gāthā 18
anvayārthaḥ– [saḥ ca ev] vahī [yāti] janma letā hai aur [maraṇaṁyāti] mr̥tyu prāpta karatā hai
tathāpi [na ev utpannaḥ] vah utpanna nahīṁ hotā [ca] aur [na naṣṭaḥ] naṣṭa nahīṁ hotā; [devaḥ
manuṣyaḥ] dev, munaṣya [iti paryāyaḥ] aisī paryāy [utpannaḥ] utpanna hotī hai [ca] aur [vinaṣṭaḥ]
vinaṣṭa hotī hai.
ṭīkāḥ– yahān̐, dravya kathaṁcit vyay aur utpādavālā honepar bhī usakā sadā avinaṣṭapanā aur
anutpannapanā kahā hai.

dravyamālakṣyate, tadev tathāvidhobhayāvasthāvyāpinā pratiniyataik– vastutvanibandhanabhūten
svabhāvenāvinaṣṭamanutpannaṁ vā vedyate. paryāyāstu tasya pūrvapūrvapariṇāmo–pamardottarottarapariṇāmotpādarūpāḥ
praṇāśasaṁbhavadharmāṇo‘bhidhīyante. te ca vastutven dravyādapr̥thagbhūtā evoktāḥ. tataḥ paryāyaiḥ
sahaikavastutvājjāyamānaṁ mriyamāṇamati jīvadravyaṁ sarvadānutpannā vinaṣṭaṁ draṣṭavyam. devamanuṣyādiparyāyāstu
kramavartitvādupasthitātivāhitasvasamayā utpadyante vinaśyanti ceti.. 18..
evaṁ sado viṇāso asado jīvassa ṇatthi uppādo.

jo dravya
1pūrva paryāyake viyogase aur 2uttar paryāyake saṁyogase honevālī ubhay avasthāko ātmasāt
[apanerūp] karatā huā vinaṣṭa hotā aur upajatā dikhāī detā hai, vahī [dravya] vaisī ubhay
avasthāmeṁ vyāpta honevālā jo pratiniyat ekavastutvake kāraṇabhūt svabhāv usake dvārā [–us
svabhāvakī apekṣāse] avinaṣṭa evaṁ anutpanna jñāt hotā hai; usakī paryāyeṁ pūrva–pūrva pariṇāmake nāśarūp
aur uttar–uttar pariṇāmake utpādarūp honese vināś–utpādadharmavālī [–vināś evaṁ utpādarūp
dharmavālī] kahī jātī hai, aur ve [paryāyeṁ] vasturūpase dravyase apr̥thagbhūt hī kahī gaī hai. isaliye,
paryāyoṁke sāth ekavastupaneke kāraṇ janmatā aur maratā hone par bhī jīvadravya sarvadā anutpanna evaṁ
avinaṣṭa hī dekhanā [–śraddhā karanā]; dev manuṣyādi paryāyeṁ upajatī hai aur vinaṣṭa hotī haiṁ kyoṁki
ve kramavartī honese unakā svasamay upasthit hotā hai aur bīt jātā hai.. 18..
gāthā 19
anvayārthaḥ– [evaṁ] isaprakār [jīvasya] jīvako [sataḥ vināśaḥ] satkā vināś aur
[asataḥ utpādaḥ] asatkā utpād [na asti] nahīṁ hai; [‘dev janmatā haie aur manuṣya maratā hai’ –
aisā kahā jātā hai usakā yah kāraṇ hai ki] [jīvānām] jīvoṁkī [devaḥ manuṣyaḥ] dev, manuṣya
[iti gatinām] aisā gatināmakarma [tāvat] utane hī kālakā hotā hai.

tadavadhr̥takāladevamanuṣyatvaparyāyanirvartakasya devamanuṣyagatināmnastanmātratvādaviruddham. yathā hi mahato
veṇudaṇḍasyaikasya kramavr̥ttīnyane kāni parvāṇyātmīyātmīyapramāṇāvacchinnatvāt parvāntaramagacchanti
svasthāneṣu bhāvabhājji parasthāneṣvabhāvabhājji bhavanti, veṇudaṇḍastu sarveṣvapi parvasthāneṣu bhāvabhāgapi

jīvadravyasyaikasya kramavr̥ttayo‘nekeḥ manuṣyatvādiparyāyā ātmīyātmīyapramāṇā–vacchinnatvāt
paryāyāntaramagacchantaḥ svasthāneṣu bhāvabhājaḥ parasthāneṣvabhāvabhājo bhavanti, jīvadravyaṁ tu
sarvaparyāyasthāneṣu bhāvabhāgapi paryāyāntarasaṁbandhen paryāyāntarasaṁbandhābhāvādabhāvabhāgbhavati..19..

ṭīkāḥ– yahān̐ satkā avināś aur asatkā anutpād dhruvatāke pakṣase kahā hai [arthāt
dhruvatākī apekṣāse satkā vināś yā asatkā utpād nahīṁ hotā–– aisā is gāthāmeṁ kahā hai].

yadi vāstavameṁ jo jīv maratā hai vahī janmatā hai, jo jīv janmatā hai vahī maratā hai, to
isaprakār satkā vināś aur asatkā utpād nahīṁ hai aisā niścit hotā hai. aur ‘dev janmatā haie
aur manuṣya maratā hai’ aisā jo kahā jātā hai vah [bhī] aviruddha hai kyoṁki maryādit kālakī
devatvaparyāy aur manuṣyatvaparyāyako racane vāle devagatināmakarma aur manuṣyagatināmakarma mātra utane
kāl jitane hī hote haiṁ. jisaprakār ek baḍẹ bān̐sake krramavartī anek

bhāvārthaḥ– jīvako dhrauvya apekṣāse satkā vināś aur asatkā utpād nahīṁ hai. ‘manuṣya maratā
hai aur dev janmatā hai’ –aisā jo kahā jātā hai vah bāt bhī uparyukta vivaraṇake sāth virodhako
prāpta nahīṁ hotī. jisaprakār ek baḍẹ bān̐sakī anek poreṁ apane–apane sthānoṁmeṁ vidyamān haiṁ aur
dūsarī poroṁke sthānoṁmeṁ avidyamān haiṁ tathā bān̐s to sarva poroṁke sthānoṁmeṁ anvayarūpase vidyamān hone
par bhī prathamādi porake rūpameṁ dvitīyādi porameṁ na honese avidyamān bhī kahā jātā hai; usīprakār
trikāl–avasthāyī ek jīvakī naranārakādi anek paryāyeṁ apane–apane kālameṁ vidyamān haiṁ aur
dūsarī paryāyoṁke kālameṁ avidyamān haiṁ tathā jīv to sarva paryāyoṁmeṁ anvayarūpase vidyamān hone par bhī
manuṣyādiparyāyarūpase devādiparyāyameṁ na honese avidyamān bhī kahā jātā hai.. 19..

anvayārthaḥ– [jñānāvaraṇādyāḥ bhāvāḥ] jñānāvaraṇādi bhāv [jīven] jīvake sāth [suṣṭhu] bhalī
bhān̐ti [anubaddhāḥ] anubaddha hai; [teṣām abhāvaṁ kr̥tvā] unakā abhāv karake vah [abhūtapūrvaḥ siddhaḥ]
abhūtapūrva siddha [bhavati] hotā hai.
ṭīkāḥ– yahān̐ siddhako atyanta asat–utpādakā niṣedh kiyā hai. [arthāt siddhatva honese
sarvathā asatkā utpād nahīṁ hotā aisā kahā hai].

bān̐s par draṣṭi ḍālanese vah draṣṭi sarvatra vicitra catroṁse hue citravicitrapanekī vyāptikā nirṇay karatī
huī ‘vah bān̐s sarvatra aviśuddha hai [arthāt sampūrṇa raṁgabiraṁgā hai]’ aisā anumān karatī hai;
usīprakār jisakā jñānāvaraṇādi karmoṁse huā citravicitratāyukta [–vividh vibhāvaparyāyavālā]
bahut baṛā nīcekā bhāg kuch ḍhan̐kā huā aur kuch bin ḍhan̐kā hai tathā suviśuddha [siddhaparyāyavālā],
bahut baṛā ūparakā bhāg mātra ḍhan̐kā huā hī hai aise kisī jīvadravyameṁ buddhi lagānese vah buddhi sarvatra

jñānāvaraṇādi karmase hue citravicitrapanekā anvay hai. aur jis prakār bāṁn̐sameṁ [uparake bhāgameṁ]
suviśuddhapanā hai kyoṁki [vahān̐] vicitra citroṁse hue citravicitrapaneke anvayakā abhāv hai, usīprakār
us jīvadravyameṁ [uparake bhāgameṁ] siddhapanā hai kyoṁki [vahān̐] jñānāvaraṇādi karmase hue
citravicitrapaneke anvayakā abhāv hai– ki jo abhāv āpta– āgamake jñānase samyak anumānajñānase
aur atīndriy jñānase jñāt hotā hai.
bhāvārthaḥ– saṁsārī jīvakī pragaṭ saṁsārī daśā dekhakar ajñānī jīvako bhram utpanna hotā hai ki
– ‘jīv sadā saṁsārī hī rahatā hai, siddha ho hī nahīṁ sakatā; yadi siddha ho to sarvathā asat–
utpādakā prasaṁg upasthit ho.’ kintu ajñānīkī yah bāt yogya nahīṁ hai.
jis prakār jīvako devādirūp ek paryāyake kāraṇakā nāś hone par us paryāyakā nāś
hokar anya paryāyakī utpanna hotī hai, jīvadravya to jo hai vahī rahatā hai; usī prakār jīvako
saṁsāraparyāyake kāraṇabhūt moharāgadveṣādikā nāś hone par saṁsāraparyāyakā nāś hokar siddhaparyāy
utpanna hotī hai, jīvadravya to jo hai vahī rahatā hai. saṁsāraparyāy aur siddhaparyāy donoṁ ek hī
jīvadravyakī paryāyeṁ haiṁ.
punaśca, anya prakārase samajhāte haiṁḥ– mān lo ki ek laṁbā bān̐s khaṛā rakhā gayā hai;
usakā nīcekā kuch bhāg raṁgabiraṁgā kiyā gayā hai aur śeṣ uparakā bhāg araṁgī [–svābhāvik
śuddha] hai. us bān̐sake raṁgabiraṁge bhāgameṁse kuch bhāg khulā rakhā gayā hai aur śeṣ sārā raṁgabiraṁgā
bhāg aur pūrā araṁgī bhāg ḍhak diyā gayā hai. us bān̐sakā khulā bhāg raṁgabieraṁgā dekhakar avicārī
jīv ‘jahān̐–jahān̐ bān̐s ho vahān̐–vahān̐ raṁgabiraṁgīpanā hotā hai’ aisī vyāpti [–niyam,
avinābhāvasambandha] kī kalpanā kar letā hai aur aise mithyā vyāptijñān dvārā aisā anumān khīṁc

bān̐s raṁgabiraṁgā hai.’ yah anumān mithyā hai; kyoṁki vāstavameṁ to us bān̐sake ūparakā bhāg
raṁgabiraṁgepaneke abhāvavālā hai, araṁgī hai. bān̐sake draṣṭāṁtakī bhān̐ti–koī ek bhavya jīv hai; usakā
nīcekā kuch bhāg [arthāt anādi kālase vartamān kāl takakā aur amuk bhaviṣya kāl takakā
bhāg] saṁsārī hai aur ūparakā ananta bhāg siddharūp [–svābhāvik śuddha] hai. us jīvake
saṁsārī bhāgameṁ se kuch bhāg khulā [pragaṭ] hai aur śeṣ sārā saṁsārī bhāg aur pūrā siddharūp bhāg
ḍhan̐kā huā [apragaṭ] haie. us jīvakā khulā [pragaṭ] bhāg saṁsārī dekhakar ajñānī jīv ‘jahān̐–
jahān̐ jīv ho vahān̐–vahān̐ saṁsārīpanā hai’ aisī vyāptikī kalpanā kar letā hai aur aise mithyā
vyāptijñān dvārā aisā anumān karatā hai ki ‘anādi–ananta sārā jīv saṁsārī hai.’ yah anumān
mithyā haie; kyoṁki us jīvakā uparakā bhāg [–amuk bhaviṣya kālake bādakā ananta bhāg]
saṁsārīpaneke abhāvavālā hai, siddharūp hai– aisā sarvajñapraṇīt āgamake jñānase, samyak anumānajñānase

is tarah anek prakārase niścit hotā hai ki jīv saṁsāraparyāy naṣṭa karake siddharūpaparyāyarūp
pariṇamit ho vahān̐ sarvathā asatkā utpād nahīṁ hotā.. 20..

anvayārthaḥ– [evam] isaprakār [guṇaparyayaiḥ sahit] guṇaparyāy sahit [jīvaḥ] jīv [saṁsaran]
saṁsaraṇ karatā huā [bhāvam] bhāv, [abhāvam] abhāv, [bhāvābhāvam] bhāvābhāv [ca] aur
[abhāvabhāvam] abhāvabhāvako [karoti] karatā hai.
ṭīkāḥ– yah, jīv utpād, vyay, sat–vināś aur asat–utpādakā kartr̥tva honekī
siddhirūp upasaṁhār hai.
dravya vāstavameṁ sarvadā avinaṣṭa aur anutpanna āgamameṁ kahā hai; isaliye jīvadravyako dravyarūpase
nityapanā kahā gayā. [1] devādiparyāyarūpase utpanna hotā hai isaliye usīko [–jīvadravyako hī]
bhāvakā [–utpādakā] kartr̥tva kahā gayā hai; [2] manuṣyādiparyāyarūpase nāśako prāpta hotā hai
isaliye usīko abhāvakā [–vyayakā] kartr̥tva kahā gayā hai; [3] sat [vidyamān] devādiparyāyakā
nāś karatā hai isaliye usīko bhāvābhāvakā [–satke vināśakā] kartr̥tva kahā gayā hai; aur [4]
phirase asat [–avidyamān] manuṣyādiparyāyakā utpād karatā hai isaliye usīko abhāvabhāvakā [–
asatke utpādakā] kartr̥tva kahā gayā hai.
–yah sab niravadya [nirdoṣ, nirbādh, aviruddha] hai, kyoṁki dravya aur paryāyomeṁse ekakī
gauṇatāse aur anyakī mukhyatāse kathan kiyā jātā hai. vah is prakār haiḥ––

paryāyasamūkoe vinaṣṭa nahīṁ karatā aur [4] asatko [–avidyamān paryāyasamūhako] utpanna nahīṁ
karatā; aur jab jīv dravyakī gauṇatāse aur paryāyakī mukhyatāse vivakṣit hotā hai tab vah [1]
upajatā hai, [2] vinaṣṭa hotā hai, [3] jisakā svakāl bīt gayā hai aise sat [–vidyamān]
paryāyasamūhako vinaṣṭa karatā hai aur [4] jisakā svakāl upasthit huā hai [–ā pahun̐cā hai] aise
asatko [–avidyamān paryāyasamūhako] utpanna karatā hai.
vah prasād vāstavameṁ anekāntavādakā hai ki aisā virodh bhī [vāstavameṁ] virodh nahīṁ hai.. 21..
isaprakār ṣaḍdravyakī sāmānya prarūpaṇā samāpta huī.

anvayārthaḥ–
[jīvāḥ] jīv, [pudgalakāyāḥ] pudgalakāy, [ākāśam] ākāś aur [śeṣau
astikāyau] śeṣ do astikāy [amayāḥ] akr̥t haiṁ, [astitvamayāḥ] astitvamay haiṁ aur [hi]

ṣaṭsu davyeṣu jīvapudgalākāśadharmādharmāḥ pradeśapracayātmakatvāt pañcāstikāyāḥ. na khalu
kālastadabhāvādastikāy iti sāmarthyādavasīyat iti.. 22..
sabbhāvasabhāvāṇaṁ jīvāṇaṁ tah ya poggalāṇaṁ ca.
pariyaṭṭaṇasaṁbhūdo kālo ṇiyameṇ paṇṇatto.. 23..
sadbhāvasvabhāvānāṁ jīvānāṁ tathaiv pudgalānāṁ ca.
parivartanasambhūtaḥ kālo niyamen prajñapta.. 23..
atrāsitakāyatvenānuktasyāpi kālasyārthāpannatvaṁ dyotitam.

akr̥t honese, astitvamay honese aur anek prakārakī 1apanī pariṇatirūp lokake kāraṇ
honese jo svīkār [–sammat] kiye gaye haiṁ aise chah dravyoṁmeṁ jīv, pudgal, ākāś, dharma aur
adharma pradeśapracayātmak [–pradeśoṁke samūhamay] honese ve pān̐c astikāy haiṁ. kālako
pradeśapracayātmakapanekā abhāv honese vāstavameṁ astikāy nahīṁ haiṁ aisā [binā–kathan kiye bhī]
sāmarthyase niścit hotā hai.. 22..
gāthā 23
anvayārthaḥ– [sadbhāvasvabhāvānām] sattāsvabhāvavāle [jīvānām tathā ev pudgalānām ca] jīv
aur pudgaloṁke [parivartanasambhūtaḥ] parivartanase siddha hone vāle [kālaḥ] aisā kāl [niyamen
prajñaptaḥ] [sarvajñoṁ dvārā] niyamase [niścayase] upadeś diyā gayā hai.
ṭīkāḥ– kāl astikāyarūpase anukta [–nahīṁ kahā gayā] hone par bhī use arthapanā
[padārthapanā] siddha hotā hai aisā yahān̐ darśāyā hai.

khalu sahakārikāraṇasadbhāve draṣṭaḥ, gatisthityavagāhapariṇāmavat. yastu sahakārikāraṇaṁ sa kālaḥ.
tatpariṇāmānyathānupapatigamyamānatvādanukto‘pi niścayakālo‘–stīti niścīyate. yastu
niścayakālaparyāyarūpo vyavahārakālaḥ sa jīvapadgalapariṇāmenābhi–vyajyamānatvāttadāyatta evābhigamyat
eveti.. 23..

is jagatameṁ vāstavameṁ jīvoṁko aur pudgaloṁko sattāsvabhāvake kāraṇ pratikṣaṇ
utpādavyayadhrauvyakī ekavr̥ttirūp pariṇām vartatā hai. vah [–pariṇām] vāstavameṁ sahakārī kāraṇake
sadbhāvameṁ dikhāī detā hai, gati–sthit–avagāhapariṇāmakī bhān̐ti. [jisaprakār gati, sthiti aur
avagāharūp pariṇām dharma, adharma aur ākāśarūp sahakārī kāraṇoṁke sadbhāvameṁ hote haiṁ, usī prakār
utpādavyayadhrauvyakī ekatārūp pariṇām sahakārī kāraṇake sadbhāvameṁ hote haiṁ.] yah jo sahakārī
kāraṇ so kāl hai.
1jīv–pudgalake pariṇāmakī 2anyathā anupapatti dvārā jñāt hotā hai isalie,
niścayakāl–[astikāyarūpase] anukta hone par bhī–[dravyarūpase] vidyamān hai aisā niścit hotā hai.
aur jo niścayakālakī paryāyarūp vyavahārakāl vah, jīv–pudgaloṁke pariṇāmase vyakta [–gamya]
hotā hai isaliye avaśya tadāśrit hī [–jīv tathā pudgalake pariṇāmake āśrit hī] ginā jātā hai

1. yadyapi kāladravya jīv–pudgaloṁke pariṇamāke atirikta dharmāstikāyādike pariṇāmako bhī nimittabhūt hai
tathāpi jīv–pudgaloṁke pariṇām spaṣṭa khyālameṁ āte haiṁ isaliye kāladravyako siddha karanemeṁ mātra un doke
pariṇāmakī hī bāt lī gaī hai.
2. anyathā anupapatti = anya kisī prakārase nahīṁ ho sakatā. [jīv– pudgaloṁke utpādavyayadhrauvyātmak
pariṇām arthāt unakī samayaviśiṣṭa vr̥tti. vah samayaviśiṣṭa vr̥tti samayako utpanna karanevāle kisī padārthake
binā [–niścayakālake binā] nahīṁ ho sakatī. jisaprakār ākāś binā dravya avagāhan prāpta nahīṁ kar
sakate arthāt unakā vistār [tiryakapanā] nahīṁ ho sakatā usī prakār niścayakāl binā dravya pariṇāmako
prāpta nahīṁ ho sakate arthāt unako pravāh [ūrdhvapanā] nahīṁ ho sakatā. is prakār niścayakālake astitva
binā [arthāt nimittabhūt kāladravyake sadbhāv binā] anya kisī prakār jīv–pudgalake pariṇām ban nahīṁ
sakate isaliye ‘niścayakāl vidyamān hai’ aisā jñāt hotā hai– niścit hotā hai.]

anvayārthaḥ– [kālaḥ iti] kāl [niścayakāl] [vyapagatapañcavarṇarasaḥ] pān̐c varṇa aur pān̐c ras
rahit, [vyapagatadvigandhāṣṭasparśaḥ ca] do gaṁdh aur āṭh sparśa rahit, [agurulaghukaḥ ] agurulaghu,
[amūrtaḥ] amūrta [ca] aur [vartanalakṣaṇaḥ] vartanālakṣaṇavālā hai.
bhāvārthaḥ– yahān̐ niścayakālakā svarūp kahā hai.
lokākāśake pratyek pradeśameṁ ek–ek kālāṇu [kāladravya] sthit hai. vah kālāṇu
[kāladravya] so niścayakāl hai. alokākāśameṁ kālāṇu [kāladravya] nahīṁ hai.
vah kāl [niścayakāl] varṇa–gaṁdh–ras–sparśa rahit hai, varṇādi rahit honese amūrta hai aur
amūrta honese sūkṣma, atandriyajñānagrāhya hai. aur vah ṣaṭguṇahānivr̥ddhisahit agurulaghutvasvabhāvavālā
hai. kālakā lakṣaṇ vartanāhetutva hai; arthāt jis prakār śītar̥tumeṁ svayaṁ adhyayanakriyā karate hue
puruṣako agni sahakārī [–bahiraṁg nimitta] hai aur jis prakār svayaṁ ghumane kī kriyā karate hue
kumbhārake cākako nīcekī kīlī sahakārī hai usī prakār niścayase svayamev pariṇāmako prāpta jīv–
pudgalādi dravyoṁko [vyavahārase] kālāṇurūp niścayakāl bahiraṁg nimitta hai.
praśnaḥ– alokameṁ kāladravya nahīṁ hai vahān̐ ākāśakī pariṇati kis prakār ho sakatī hai?

paramāṇupracalanāyattaḥ samayaḥ. nayanapuṭaghaṭanāyatto nimiṣaḥ. tatsaṁkhyāviśeṣataḥ kāṣṭhā kalā nālī

uttaraḥ– jis prakār laṭakatī huī lambī ḍorīko, lambe bān̐sako yā kumhārake cākako ek hī
sthān par sparśa karane par sarvatra calan hotā hai, jis prakār manojña sparśanendriyaviṣayakā athavā
rasanendriyaviṣayakā śarīrake ek hī bhāgameṁ sparśa hone par bhī sampūrṇa ātmāmeṁ sukhānubhav hotā hai
aur jis prakār sarpadaṁś yā vraṇ [ghāv] ādi śarīrake ek hī bhāgameṁ hone par bhī sampūrṇa ātmāmeṁ
duḥkhavedanā hotī hai, usī prakār kāladravya lokākāśameṁ hī hone par bhī sampūrṇa ākāśameṁ pariṇati
hotī hai kyoṁki ākāś akhaṇḍa ek dravya hai.

yahān̐ yah bāt mukhyataḥ dhyānameṁ rakhanā cāhiye ki kāl kisī dravyako pariṇamit nahīṁ karatā,
sampūrṇa svataṁtratāse svayamev pariṇamit honevāle dravyoṁko vah bāhyanimittamātra hai .

is prakār niścayakālakā svarūp darśāyā gayā.. 24..
gāthā 25
anvayārthaḥ– [samayaḥ] samay, [nimiṣaḥ] nimeṣ, [kāṣṭhā] kāṣṭhā, [kalā ca] kalā, [nālī]
ghaṛī, [tataḥ divārātraḥ] ahorātra, [–divas], [māsartvayanasaṁvatsaram] mās, r̥tu, ayan aur varṣa
– [iti kālaḥ] aisā jo kāl [arthāt vyavahārakāl] [parāyattaḥ] vah parāśrit hai.
ṭīkāḥ– yahān̐ vyavahārakālakā kathaṁcit parāśritapanā darśāyā hai.
paramāṇuke gamanake āśrit samay hai; āṁkhake micaneke āśrit nimeṣ hai; usakī [–nimeṣakī]
amuk saṁkhyāse kāṣṭhā, kalā aur ghaṛī hotī hai; sūryake gamanake āśrit ahorātra hotā hai; aur
usakī [–ahorātrakī] amuk saṁkhyāse mās, r̥tu, ayan aur varṣa hote haiṁ. –aisā vyavahārakāl

ṇatthi ciraṁ vā khippaṁ mattārahidaṁ tu sā vi khalu mattā.
poggaladavveṇ
viṇā tamhā kālo paḍḍaccabhavo.. 26..
nāsti ciraṁ vā kṣipraṁ mātrārahitaṁ tu sāpi khalu mātrā.
pudgaladravyeṇ vinā tasmātkāl pratītyabhavaḥ.. 26..

keval kālakī paryāyamātrarūpase avadhāranā aśakay honase [arthāt parakī apekṣā binā– paramāṇu,
āṁkh, sūrya ādi par padārthokī apekṣā binā–vyavahārakālakā māp niścit karanā aśakay honese]
use ‘parāśrit’ aisī upamā dī jātī hai.
bhāvārthaḥ– ‘samay’ nimittabhūt aise maṁd gatise pariṇat pudgal–paramāṇu dvārā pragaṭ hotā hai–
māpā jātā hai [arthāt paramāṇuko ek ākāśapradeśase dūsare anantar ākāśapradeśameṁ maṁdagatise jānemeṁ
jo samay lage use samay kahā jātā hai]. ‘nimeṣ’ ān̐khake micanese pragaṭ hotā hai [arthāt khulī
ān̐khake micanemeṁ jo samay lage use nimeṣ kahā jātā hai aur vah ek nimeṣ asaṁkhyāt samayakā
hotā hai]. pandrah nimeṣakā ek ‘kāṣṭhā’, tīs kāṣṭhākī ek ‘kalā’, bīsase kuch adhik kalākī
ek ‘ghaṛī’ aur do ghaṛīkā ek ‘mahūrta banatā hai]. ‘ahorātra’ sūryake gamanase pragaṭ hotā hai [aur
vah ek ahorātra tīs muhūrtakā hotā hai] tīs ahorātrakā ek ‘mās’, do māsakī ek ‘r̥tu’
tīn r̥tukā ek ‘ayan’ aur do ayanakā ek ‘varṣa’ banatā hai. – yah sab vyavahārakāl haie.
‘palyopam’, ‘sāgaropam’ ādi bhī vyavahārakālake bhed haiṁ.
uparokta samay–nimeṣādi sab vāstavameṁ mātra niścayakālakī hī [–kāladravyakī hī] paryāyeṁ haiṁ
parantu ve paramāṇu ādi dvārā pragaṭ hotī haiṁ isaliye [arthāt par padārthoṁ dvārā māpī sakatī haiṁ
isaliye] unheṁ upacārase parāśrit kahā jātā hai.. 25..
