cetakasvabhāven prakr̥ṣṭataravīryāṁtarāyāvasāditakāryakāraṇasāmarthyāḥ sukhaduḥkharūpaṁ karmaphalamev prādhānyen
cetayaṁte. anye tu prakr̥ṣṭataramohamalīmasenāpi prakr̥ṣṭajñānāvaraṇamudritānubhāven cetak–svabhāven
manāgvīryāṁtarāyakṣayopaśamāsāditakāryakāraṇasāmarthyāḥ sukhaduḥkharūpakarmaphalānubhavan–saṁvalitamapi
kāryamev prādhānyen cetayaṁte. anyatare
tu prakṣālitasakalamohakalaṅken samucchinna–
kr̥tsnajñānāvaraṇatayātyaṁtamunmudritasamastānubhāven cetakasvabhāven samastavīryāṁtarāyakṣayāsāditānaṁt–
vīryā api nirjīrṇakarmaphalatvādatyaṁt–

ṭīkāḥ– yah, 1cetayitr̥tvaguṇakī vyākhyā hai.
koī cetayitā arthāt ātmā to, jo ati prakr̥ṣṭa mohase malin hai aur jisakā prabhāv
[śakti] ati prakr̥ṣṭa jñānāvaraṇase mun̐d gayā hai aise cetak–svabhāv dvārā sukhaduḥkharūp ‘karmaphal’ ko
hī pradhānataḥ cetate haiṁ, kyoṁki unakā ati prakr̥ṣṭa vīryāntarāyase kārya karanekā [–karmacetanārūp
pariṇamit honekā] sāmarthya naṣṭa gayā hai.
dūsare cetayitā arthāt ātmā, jo ati prakr̥ṣṭa mohase malin che aur jisakā prabhāv 2prakr̥ṣṭa
jñānāvaraṇase mun̐d gayā hai aise cetakasvabhāv dvārā – bhale hī sukhaduḥkharūp karmaphalake anubhavase
miśritarūpasee bhī – ‘kārya’ ko hī pradhānataḥ cetate haiṁ, kyoṁki unhoṁne alpa vīryāṁtarāyake kṣayopaśamase
3kārya karanekā sāmarthya prāpta kiyā hai.
aur dūsare cetayitā arthāt ātmā, jisameṁse sakal mohakalaṁk dhul gayā hai tathā samasta
jñānāvaraṇake vināśake kāraṇ jisakā samasta prabhāv atyanta vikasit ho gayā hai aise cetakasvabhāv

karmacetanārūpase pariṇamit hote haiṁ. vah karmacetanā karmaphalacetanāse miśrit hotī hai.]

1avyatirikta svābhāvik sukhavālā hai usīko –cetate
haiṁ, kyoṁki unhoṁne samasta vīryāṁtarāyake kṣayase ananta vīryako prāpta kiyā hai isaliye unako [vikārī
sukhaduḥkharūp] karmaphal nirjarit ho gayā hai aur atyanta
2kr̥takr̥tyapanā huā hai [arthāt kuch bhī
karanā leśamātra bhī nahīṁ rahā hai].. 38..
gāthā 39
anvayārthaḥ– [sarve sthāvarakāyāḥ] sarva sthāvar jīvasamūh [khalu] vāstavameṁ [karmaphalaṁ]
karmaphalako vedate haiṁ, [trasāḥ] tras [hi] vāstavameṁ [kāryayutam] kāryasahit karmaphalako vedate haiṁ
aur [prāṇitvam atikrāṁtāḥ] jo prāṇitvakā [–prāṇoṁkā] atikram kar gaye haiṁ [te jīvāḥ] ve jīv
[jñānaṁ] jñānako [viṁdanti] vedate haiṁ.
ṭīkāḥ– yahān̐, kaun kyā cetatā hai [arthāt kis jīvako kaunasī cetanā hotī hai] vah kahā
hai.
cetatā hai, anubhav karatā hai, upalabdha karatā hai aur vedatā hai –ye ekārtha haiṁ [arthāt yah sab
śabda ek arthavāle haiṁ], kyoṁki cetanā, anubhūti, upalabdhi aur vedanākā ek artha hai. vahān̐, sthāvar

huā hai tathāpi, unakā vīrya kāryacetanāko [karmacetanāko] nahīṁ racatā, [aur vikārī sukhaduḥkh vinaṣṭa ho gaye
haiṁ isaliye unakā vīrya karmaphal cetaneāko bhī nahīṁ racatā,] jñānacetanāko hī racatā hai.]
vede karamaphal sthāvaro, tras kāryayut phal anubhave,
prāṇitvathī atikrānta je te jīv vede jñānane. 39.

cetayaṁte anubhavanti upalabhaṁte viṁdaṁtītyekārthāścetanānubhūtyupalabdhivedanānāmekārthatvāt. tatra sthāvarāḥ
karmaphalaṁ cetayaṁte, trasāḥ kāryaṁ cetayaṁte, kevalajñāninojñānaṁ cetayaṁt iti.. 39..
athopayogaguṇavyākhyānam.
uvaogo khalu duviho ṇāṇeṇ ya daṁsaṇeṇ saṁjutto.
jīvassa savvakālaṁ aṇaṇṇabhūdaṁ viyāṇīhi.. 40..
upayogaḥ khalu dvividho jñānen ca darśanen saṁyuktaḥ.
jīvasya sarvakālamananyabhūtaṁ vijānīhi.. 40..

karmaphalako cetate haiṁ, tras kāryako cetate haiṁ, kevalajñānī jñānako cetate haiṁ.
bhāvārthaḥ– pān̐c prakārake sthāvar jīv avyakta sukhaduḥkhānubhavarūp śubhāśubhakarmaphalako cetate haiṁ.
dvīindriy ādi tras jīv usī karmaphalako icchāpūrvak iṣṭāniṣṭa vikalparūp kārya sahit cetate haiṁ.
1paripūrṇa jñānavanta bhagavanta [ananta saukhya sahit] jñānako hī cetate haiṁ.. 39..
ab upayogaguṇakā vyākhyān hai.

1. yahā paripūrṇa jñānacetanākī vivakṣā honese, kevalībhagavantoṁ aur siddhabhagavantoṁko hī jñānacetanā kahī gaī
hai. āṁśik jñānacetanākī vivakṣāse to muni, śrāvak tathā avirat samyagdraṣṭiko bhī jñānacetanā kahī jā
sakatī haie; unakā yahān̐ niṣedh nahīṁ samajhanā, mātra vivakṣābhed hai aisā samajhanā cāhiye.
che jñān ne darśan sahit upayog yugal prakārano;
jīvadravyane te sarva kāḷ ananyarūpe jāṇavo. 40

kumadisudavibhaṁgāṇi ya tiṇṇi vi ṇāṇehiṁ saṁjutte.. 41..
ābhinibodhikaśrutāvadhimanaḥparyayakevalāni jñānāni pañcabhedāni.
kumatiśrutavibhaṅgāni ca trīṇyapi jñānaiḥ saṁyuktāni.. 41..

anvayārthaḥ– [jñānen ca darśanen saṁyuktaḥ] jñān aur darśanase saṁyukta aisā [khalu dvividhaḥ]
vāstavameṁ do prakārakā [upayogaḥ] upayog [jīvasya] jīvako [sarvakālam] sarva kāl [ananyabhūtaṁ]
ananyarūpase [vijānīhi] jāno.
ṭīkāḥ– ātmakā caitanya–anuvidhāyī [arthāt caitanyakā anusaraṇ karanevālā] pariṇām so
upayog hai. vah bhī doe prakārakā hai–jñānopayog aur darśanopayoga. vahān̐, viśeṣako grahaṇ karanevālā
jñān hai aur sāmānyako grahaṇ karanevālā darśan hai [arthāt viśeṣ jisameṁ pratibhāsit ho vah jñān
hai aur sāmānya jisameṁ pratibhāsit ho vah darśan hai]. aur upayog sarvadā jīvase
apr̥thagbhūt hī
hai, kyoṁki ek astitvase racit hai.. 40..
gāthā 41
anvayārthaḥ– [ābhinibodhikaśrutāvadhimanaḥparyayakevalāni] ābhinibodhik [–mati], śrut, avadhi,
manaḥparyay aur keval–[jñānāni pañcabhedāni] is prakār jñānake pān̐c bhed haiṁ; [kumatiśrutavibhaṅgāni ca]
aur kumati, kuśrut aur vibhaṁg–[trīṇi api] yah tīn [ajñān] bhī [jñānaiḥ] [pān̐c] jñānake sāth
[saṁyuktāni] saṁyukta kiye gaye haiṁ. [is prakār jñānopayogake āṭh bhed haiṁ.]

tatrābhinibodhikajñānaṁ śrutajñānamavadhijñānaṁ manaḥparyayajñānaṁ kevalajñānaṁ kumatijñānaṁ kuśrut–jñānaṁ
vibhaṅgajñānamiti nāmābhidhānam. ātmā hyanaṁtasarvātmapradeśavyāpiviśuddha jñānasāmānyātmā. sa
khalvanādijñānāvaraṇakarmāvacchannapradeśaḥ san, yattadāvaraṇakṣayopaśamādindri–yānindriyāvalambācca
mūrtāmūrtadravyaṁ vikalaṁ viśeṣeṇāvabudhyate tadābhinibodhikajñānam, yattadā–
varaṇakṣayopaśamādanindriyāvalaṁbācca mūrtāmūrtadravyaṁ vikalaṁ viśeṣeṇāvabudhyate tat śrutajñānam,
yattadāvaraṇakṣayopaśamādev mūrtadravyaṁ vikalaṁ viśeṣeṇāvabudhyate tadavadhijñānam, yattadā–varaṇakṣayopaśamādev

pradeśavālā vartatā huā, [1] us prakārake [arthāt matijñānake] āvaraṇake kṣayopaśamase aur
indriy–manake avalambanase mūrta–amūrta dravyakā

ābhinibodhikajñān hai, [2] us prakārake [arthāt śrutajñānake] āvaraṇake kṣayopaśamase aur manake
avalambanase mūrta–amūrta dravyakā vikalarūpase viśeṣataḥ avabodhan karatā hai vah śrutajñān hai, [3] us
prakārake āvaraṇake kṣayopaśamase hī mūrta dravyakā vikalarūpase viśeṣataḥ avabodhan karatā hai vah
avadhijñān hai, [4] us prakārake āvaraṇake kṣayopaśamase hī paramanogat [–dūsaroṁke manake sāth
sambandhavāle] mūrta dravyakā vikalarūpase viśeṣataḥ avabodhan karatā hai vah manaḥparyayajñān hai, [5]
samasta āvaraṇake atyanta kṣayase, keval hī [–ātmā akelā hī], mūrta–amūrta dravyakā sakalarūpase

keval ev mūrtāmūrtadravyaṁ sakalaṁ viśeṣeṇāvabudhyate tatsvābhāvikaṁ kevalajñānam.
mithyādarśanodayasahacaritamābhinibodhikajñānamev kumatijñānam, mithyādarśanoday–sahacaritaṁ
śrutajñānamev kuśrutajñānam, mithyādarśanodayasahacaritamavadhijñānamev vibhaṅgajñānamiti svarūpābhidhānam.
itthaṁ matijñānādijñānopayogāṣṭakaṁ vyākhyātam.. 41..

viśeṣataḥ avabodhan karatā hai vah svābhāvik kevalajñān hai, [6] mithyādarśanake udayake sāthakā
ābhinibodhikajñān hī kumatijñān hai, [7] mithyādarśanake udayake sāthakā śrutajñān hī kuśrutajñān hai,
[8] mithyādarśanake udayake sāthakā avadhijñān hī vibhaṁgajñān hai. – is prakār [jñānopayogake
bhedoṁke] svarūpakā kathan hai.
is prakār matijñānādi āṭh jñānopayogoṁkā vyākhyān kiyā gayā.
bhāvārthaḥ– pratham to, nimnānusār pān̐c jñānoṁkā svarūp haiḥ–

niścayanayase akhaṇḍa–ek–viśuddhajñānamay aisā yah ātmā vyavahāranayase saṁsārāvasthāmeṁ karmāvr̥tta
vartatā huā, matijñānāvaraṇakā kṣayopaśam hone par, pān̐c indriyoṁ aur manase mūrta–amūrta vastuko
vikalparūpase jo jānatā hai vah matijñān hai. vah tīn prakārakā haiḥ upalabdhirūp, bhāvanārūp aur
upayogarūpa. matijñānāvaraṇake kṣayopaśamase janit arthagrahaṇaśakti [–padārthako jānanekī śakti] vah
upalabdhi hai, jāne hue padārthakā punaḥ punaḥ ciṁtan vah bhāvanā hai aur ‘yah kālā hai,’ ‘yah pīlā hai
’ ityādirūpase arthagrahaṇavyāpār [–padārthako jānanekā vyāpār] vah upayog hai. usī prakār vah
[matijñān] avagrah, īhā, avāy aur dhāraṇārūp bhedoṁ dvārā athavā koṣṭhabuddhi, bījabuddhi,
padānusārībuddhi tathā saṁbhinnaśrotr̥tābuddhi aise bhedoṁ dvārā cār prakārakā hai. [yahān̐, aisā tātparya grahaṇ
karanā cāhiye ki nirvikār śuddha anubhūtike prati abhimukh jo matijñān vahī upādeyabhūt ananta
sukhakā sādhak honese niścayase upādey hai, usake sādhanabhūt bahiraṁg matijñān to vyavahārase upādey
hai.]

vahī pūrvokta ātmā, śrutajñānāvaraṇakā kṣayopaśam hone par, mūrta–amūrta vastuko parokṣarūpase jo
jānatā hai use jñānī śrutajñān kahate haiṁ. vah labdhirūp aur bhāvanārūp haie tathā upayogarūp aur
nayarūp hai. ‘upayog’ śabdase yahān̐ vastuko grahaṇ karanevālā pramāṇ samajhanā cāhiye arthāt sampūrṇa
vastuko jānanevālā jñān samajhanā cāhiye aur ‘nay’ śabdase vastuke [guṇaparyāyarūp] ek deśako
grahaṇ karanevālā aisā jñātākā abhiprāy samajhanā cāhiye. [yahān̐ aisā tātparya grahaṇ karanā cāhiye
ki viśuddhajñānadarśan jisakā svabhāv hai aise śuddha ātmatattvake samyak śraddhān–jñān–anucaraṇarūp
abhedaratnatrayātmak jo bhāvaśrut vahī upādeyabhūt paramātmatattvakā sādhak honese niścayase upādey hai
kintu usake sādhanabhūt bahiraṁg śrutajñān to vyavahārase upādey hai.]
yah ātmā, avadhijñānāvaraṇakā kṣayopaśam hone par, mūrta vastuko jo pratyakṣarūpase jānatā hai
vah avadhijñān hai. vah avadhijñān labdhirūp tathā upayogarūp aisā do prakārakā jānanā. athavā
avadhijñān deśāvadhi, paramāvadhi aur sarvāvadhi aise bhedoṁ dvārā tīn prakārase hai. usameṁ, paramāvadhi aur
sarvāvadhi caitanyake uchalanese bharapūr ānandarūp paramasukhāmr̥take rasāsvādarūp samarasībhāvase pariṇat
caramadehī tapodhanoṁko hotā hai. tīnoṁ prakārake avadhijñān niścayase viśiṣṭa samyaktvādi guṇase hote
haiṁ. devoṁ aur nārakoṁke honevāle bhavapratyayī jo avadhijñān vah niyamase deśāvadhi hī hotā hai.

yah ātmā, manaḥparyayajñānāvaraṇakā kṣayopaśam hone par, paramanogat mūrta vastuko jo
pratyakṣarūpase jānatā hai vah manaḥparyayajñān hai. r̥jumati aur vipulamati aise bhedoṁ dvārā manaḥparyayajñān
do prakārakā hai. vahān̐, vipulamati manaḥparyayajñān parake manavacanakāy sambandhī padārthoṁko, vakra tathā
avakra donoṁko, jānatā hai aur r̥jumati manaḥparyayajñān to r̥juko [avakrako] hī jānatā hai.
nirvikār ātmākī upalabdhi aur bhāvanā sahit caramadehī muniyoṁko vipulamati manaḥparyayajñān hotā
hai. yah donoṁ manaḥparyayajñān vītarāg ātmatattvake samyak śraddhān–jñān–anuṣṭhānakī bhāvanā sahit,
pandrah pramād rahit apramatta muniko upayogameṁ–viśuddha pariṇāmameṁ–utpanna hote haiṁ. yahān̐ manaḥparyayajñānake
utpādakālameṁ hī apramattapanekā niyam hai, phir pramattapanemeṁ bhī vah saṁbhavit hotā hai.

daṁsaṇamavi cakkhujudaṁ acakkhujudamavi ya ohiṇā sahiyaṁ.
aṇidhaṇamaṇaṁtavisayaṁ kevaliyaṁ cāvi paṇṇattaṁ.. 42..

jo jñān ghaṭapaṭādi jñey padārthoṁkā avalamban lekar utpanna nahīṁ hotā vah kevalajñān hai. vah
śrutajñānasvarūp bhī nahīṁ hai. yadyapi divyadhvanikālameṁ usake ādhārase gaṇadharadev ādiko śrutajñān
pariṇamit hotā hai tathāpi vah śrutajñān gaṇadharadev ādiko hī hotā hai, kevalībhagavantoṁko to
kevalajñān hī hotā hai. punaśca, kevalībhagavantoṁko śrutajñān nahīṁ hai itanā hī nahīṁ, kintu unheṁ
jñān–ajñān bhī nahīṁ hai arthāt unheṁ kisī viṣayakā jñān tathā kisī viṣayakā ajñān ho aisā bhī
nahīṁ hai – sarva viṣayoṁkā jñān hī hotā hai; athavā, unheṁ mati–jñānādi anek bhedavālā jñān nahīṁ
hai – ek kevalajñān hī hai.
yahān̐ jo pān̐c jñānoṁkā varṇan kiyā gayā hai vah vyavahārase kiyā gayā hai. niścayase to bādal
rahit sūryakī bhān̐ti ātmā akhaṇḍa–ek–jñān–pratibhāsamay hī hai.
ab ajñānatrayake sambandhameṁ kahate haiṁḥ–
mithyātva dvārā arthāt bhāv–āvaraṇ dvārā ajñān [–kumatijñān, kuśrutajñān tathā vibhaṁgajñān]
aur aviratibhāv hotā hai tathā jñeyakā avalamban lenese [–jñey sambandhī vicār athavā jñān
karanese] us–us kāl duḥnay aur duḥpramāṇ hote haiṁ. [mithyādarśanake sadbhāvameṁ vartatā huā
matijñān vah kumatijñān hai, śrutajñān vah kuśrutajñān hai, avadhijñān vah vibhaṁgajñān hai; usake
sadbhāvameṁ vartate hue nay ve duḥnay haiṁ aur pramāṇ vah duḥpramāṇ hai.] isaliye aisā bhāvārtha samajhanā
cāhiye ki nirvikār śuddha ātmākī anubhūtisvarūp niścay samyaktva upādeyahai.
is prakār jñānopayogakā varṇan kiyā gayā.. 41..

darśanopayogaviśeṣāṇāṁ nāmasvarūpābhidhānametat.
cakṣurdarśanamacakṣurdarśanamavadhidarśanaṁ kevaladarśanamiti nāmābhidhānam. ātmā hyanaṁt–
sarvātmapradeśavyāpiviśuddhadarśanasāmānyātmā. sa khalvanādidarśanāvaraṇakarmāvacchannapradeśaḥ san,
yattadāvaraṇakṣayopaśamāccakṣurindriyāvalambācca mūrtadravyaṁ vikalaṁ sāmānye

anvayārthaḥ– [darśanam api] darśan bhī [cakṣuryutam] cakṣudarśan, [acakṣuryutam api ca]
acakṣudarśan, [avadhinā sahitam] avadhidarśan [ca api] aur [anaṁtaviṣayam] ananta jisakā viṣay
hai aisā [anidhanam] avināśī [kaivalyaṁ] kevaladarśan [prajñaptam] – aise cār bhedavālā kahā hai.
ṭīkāḥ– yah, darśanopayogake bhedoṁke nām aur svarūpakā kathan hai.
[1] cakṣudarśan, [2] acakṣudarśan, [3] avadhidarśan aur [4] kevaladarśan – is prakār
[darśanopayogake bhedoṁke] nāmakā kathan hai.
[ab usake svarūpakā kathan kiyā jātā haiḥ–] ātmā vāstavameṁ ananta, sarva ātmapradeśoṁmeṁ
vyāpak, viśuddha darśanasāmānyasvarūp hai. vah [ātmā] vāstavameṁ anādi darśanāvaraṇakarmase ācchādit
pradeśoṁvālā vartatā huā, [1] us prakārake [arthāt cakṣudarśanake] āvaraṇake kṣayopaśamase aur cakṣu–
indriyake avalambanase mūrta dravyako vikalarūpase

sāmānyenāvabudhyate tatsvābhāvikaṁ kevaladarśanamiti svarūpābhidhānam.. 42..
ṇa viyappadi ṇāṇādo ṇāṇī ṇāṇāṇi hoṁti ṇegāṇi.
tamhā du vissarūvaṁ bhaṇiyaṁ daviyatti ṇāṇīhiṁ.. 43..
na vikalpyate jñānāt jñānī jñānāni bhavaṁtyanekāni.
tasmāttu viśvarūpaṁ bhaṇitaṁ dravyamiti jñānibhiḥ.. 43..
ekasyātmano‘nekajñānātmakatvasamarthanametat.
na tāvajjñānī jñānātpr̥thagbhavati, dvayorapyekāstitvanirvr̥ttatvenaikadravyatvāt,

vah cakṣudarśan hai, [2] us prakārake āvaraṇake kṣayopaśamase tathā cakṣuke atirikta śeṣ cār indrayoṁṁṁ
aur manake avalambanase mūrta–amūrta dravyako vikarūpase sāmānyataḥ avabodhan karatā hai vah acakṣudarśan
haie, [3] us prakārake āvaraṇake kṣayopaśamase hī mūrta dravyako vikarūpase sāmānyataḥ avabodhan karatā
hai vah avadhidarśan hai, [4] samasta āvaraṇake atyanta kṣayase, keval hī [–ātmā akelā hī],
mūrta–amūrta dravyako sakalarūpasee sāmānyataḥ avabodhan karatā hai vah svābhāvik kevaladarśan hai. –is
prakār [darśanopayogake bhedoṁke] svarūpakā kathan hai.. 42..
gāthā 43
anvayārthaḥ– [jñānāt] jñānase [jñānī na vikalpyate] jñānīkā [–ātmākā] bhed nahīṁ kiyā
jātā; [jñānāni anekāni bhavaṁti] tathāpi jñān anek hai. [tasmāt tu] isaliye to [jñānibhiḥ]
jñāniyoṁne [dravyaṁ] dravyako [viśvarūpam iti bhaṇitam] viśvarūp [–anekarūp] kahā hai.
ṭīkāḥ– ek ātmā anek jñānātmak honekā yah samarthan hai.
pratham to jñānī [–ātmā] jñānase pr̥thak nahīṁ hai; kyoṁki donoeṁ ek astitvase racit honese

dravyasya viśvarūpatvāt. dravyaṁ hi sahakramapravr̥ttānaṁtaguṇaparyāyādhāratayānaṁtarūpatvādekamapi viśva–
rūpamabhidhīyat iti.. 43..
jadi havadi davvamaṇṇaṁ guṇado ya guṇā ya davvado aṇṇe.
davvāṇaṁtiyamadhavā
davvābhāvaṁ pakuvvaṁti.. 44..
yadi bhavati dravyamanyadguṇataśca guṇāśca dravyato‘nye.
dravyānaṁtyamathavā dravyābhāvaṁ prakr̥rvanti.. 44..
dravyasya guṇebhyo bhede, guṇānāṁ ca dravyādbhede doṣopanyāso‘yam.

donoṁko ekadravyapanā hai, donoṁke abhinna pradeś honese donoṁko ekakṣetrapanā hai, donoṁ ek samayameeṁ race
jāte honese donoṁko ekakālapanā hai, donoṁkā ek svabhāv honese donoṁko ekabhāvapanā hai. kintu
aisā kahā jāne par bhī, ek ātmāmeṁ ābhinibodhik [–mati] ādi anek jñān virodh nahīṁ pāte,
kyoṁki dravya viśvarūp hai. dravya vāstavameṁ sahavartī aur kramavartī aise ananta guṇoṁ tathā paryāyoṁkā
ādhār honeke kāraṇ anantarūpavālā honese, ek hone par bhī,

anvayārthaḥ– [yadi] yadi [dravyaṁ] dravya [guṇataḥ] guṇoṁse [anyat ca bhavati] anya [–bhinna]
ho [guṇāḥ ca] aur guṇ [dravyataḥ anye] dravyase anya ho to [dravyānaṁtyam] dravyakī anantatā ho
[athavā] athavā [dravyābhāvaṁ] dravyakā abhāv [prakurvanti] ho.
ṭīkāḥ– dravyakā guṇoṁse bhinnatva ho aur guṇoṁkā dravyase bhinnatva ho to doṣ ātā hai usakā
yah kathan hai.

tadapyanyadev guṇebhyaḥ. evaṁ dravyasya guṇebhyo bhede bhavati dravyā naṁtyam. dravyaṁ hi guṇānāṁ samudāyaḥ.
guṇāścedanye samudāyāt, ko nām samudāyaḥ. ev guṇānāṁ dravyādbhede bhavati dravyābhāv iti.. 44..
avibhattamaṇaṇṇattaṁ davvaguṇāṇaṁ vibhattamaṇṇattaṁ.
ṇicchaṁti ṇiccayaṇhū tavvivarīdaṁ hi vā tesiṁ.. 45..
avibhaktamananyatvaṁ dravyaguṇānāṁ vibhaktamanyatvam.
necchanti niścayajñāstadviparītaṁ hi vā teṣām.. 45..
dravyaguṇānāṁ svocitānanyatvoktiriyam.

guṇ vāstavameṁ kisīke āśrayase hote haiṁ; [ve] jisake āśrit hoṁ vah dravya hotā hai. vah
[–dravya] yadi guṇoṁse anya [–bhinna] ho to–phir bhī, guṇ kisīke āśrit hoṁge; [ve] jisake
āśrit hoṁ vah dravya hotā hai. vah yadi guṇoṁse anya ho to– phir bhī guṇ kisīke āśrit hoṁge;
[ve] jisake āśrit hoṁ vah dravya hotā hai. vah bhī guṇose anya hī ho.–– is prakār, yadi
dravyakā guṇoṁse bhinnatva ho to, dravyakī anantatā ho.
vāstavameṁ dravya arthāt guṇoṁkā samudāya. guṇ yadi samudāyase anya ho to samudāy kaisā?
[arthāt yadi guṇoṁko samudāyase bhinna mānā jāye to samudāy kahān̐se ghaṭit hogā? arthāt dravya hī
kahān̐se ghaṭit hogā?] is prakār, yadi guṇoṁkā dravyase bhinnatva ho to, dravyakā abhāv ho.. 44..
gāthā 45
anvayārthaḥ– [dravyaguṇānām] dravya aur guṇoṁko [avibhaktam ananyatvam] avibhaktapanerūp
ananyapanā hai; [niścayajñāḥ hi] niścayake jñātā [teṣām] unheṁ [vibhaktam anyatvam] vibhaktapanerūp
anyapanā [vā] yā [tadviparītaṁ] [vibhaktapanerūp] ananyapanā [na icchanti] nahīṁ mānate.

mananyatvaṁ ca nābhyupagamyate. tathā hi–yathaikasya paramāṇorekenātmapradeśen sahāvibhaktatvādananya–tvaṁ,
tathaikasya paramāṇostadvartināṁ sparśarasagaṁdhavarṇādiguṇānāṁ cāvibhaktapradeśatvādananyatvam. yathā
tvatyaṁtaviprakr̥ṣṭayoḥ sahyaviṁdhyayoratyaṁtasannikr̥ṣṭayośca miśritayostoyapayasorvibhaktapradeśatvalakṣaṇ–
manyatvamananyatvaṁ ca, na tathā dravyaguṇānāṁ vibhaktapradeśatvābhāvādanyatvamananyatvaṁ ceti.. 45..

ṭīkāḥ– yah, dravya aur guṇoṁke svocit ananyapanekā kathan hai [arthāt dravya aur guṇoṁko
kaisā ananyapanā ghaṭit hotā hai vah yahān̐ kahā hai].
dravya aur guṇoṁko 1avibhaktapradeśatvasvarūp ananyapanā svīkār kiyā jātā hai; parantu
vibhaktapradeśatvasvarūp anyapanā tathā [vibhaktapradeśatvasvarūp] ananyapanā svīkār nahīṁ kiyā jātā.
vah spaṣṭa samajhāyā jātā haiḥ– jis prakār ek paramāṇuko ek svapradeśake sāth avibhaktapanā honese
ananyapanā hai, usī prakār ek paramāṇuko tathā usameṁ rahanevāle sparśa–ras–gaṁdh–varṇa ādi guṇoṁko
avibhakta pradeś honese [avibhakta–pradeśatvasvarūp] ananyapanā hai; parantu jis prakār atyanta dūr aise
2sahya aur viṁdhyako vibhaktapradeśatvasvarūp anyapanā hai tathā atyanta nikaṭ aise miśrit 3kṣīr–nīrako
vibhaktapradeśatvasvarūp ananyapanā hai, usī prakār dravya aur guṇoṁko vibhakta pradeś na honese
[vibhaktapradeśatvasvarūp] anyapanā tathā [vibhaktapradeśatvasvarūp] ananyapanā nahīṁ hai.. 45..

ananyapanā nahīṁ hai, kintu abhinnapradeśatvasvarūp ananyapanā hai.

yahān̐ vyapadeś ādi ekāntase dravya–guṇoṁke anyapanekā kāraṇ honekā khaṇḍan kiyā

jis prakār ‘devadattakī gāy’ is prakār anyapanemeṁ ṣaṣṭhīvyapadeś [–chaṭhavīṁ vibhaktikā kathan]
hotā haie, usī prakār ‘vr̥kṣakī śākhā,’ ‘dravyake guṇ’ aise ananyapanemeṁ bhī [ṣaṣṭhīvyapadeś] hotā haie.
jis prakār‘devadatta phalako aṁkuś dvārā dhanadattake liyee vr̥kṣa parase bagīcemeṁ toṛatā hai’ aise anyapanemeṁ
kārakavyapadeś hotā haie, usī prakār
miṭṭī svayaṁ ghaṭabhāvako [–ghaṛārūp pariṇāmako] apane dvārā
apane liye apanemeṁse apanemeṁ karatī hai’, ‘ātmā ātmako ātmā dvārā ātmāke liye ātmāmeṁse
ātmāmeṁ jānatā hai’ aise ananyapanemeṁ bhī [kārakavyapadeś] hotā haie. jis prakār ‘ūn̐ce devadattakī
ūn̐cī gāy’ aisā anyapanemeṁ saṁsthān hotā haie, usī prakār ‘viśāl vr̥kṣakā viśāl śākhāsamudāy’,
mūrta dravyake mūrta guṇ’ aise ananyapanemeṁ bhī [saṁsthān] hotā haie. jis prakār ‘ek devadattakī das

bhaṇṇaṁti tah pudhattaṁ eyattaṁ cāvi taccaṇhū.. 47..
jñānaṁ dhanaṁ ca karoti dhaninaṁ yathā jñāninaṁ ca dvividhābhyām.
bhaṇaṁti tathā pr̥thaktvamekatvaṁ cāpi tattvajñāḥ.. 47..

gāyeṁ, aise anyapanemeṁ saṁkhyā hotī hai, usī prakār ‘ek vr̥kṣakī das śākhāyeṁ’, ‘ek dravyake ananta
guṇ’ aise ananyapanemeṁ bhī [saṁkhyā] hotī hai. jis prakār ‘bāṛee meṁ gāyeṁ’ aise anyapanemeṁ viṣay [–
ādhār] hotā hai, usī prakār ‘vr̥kṣameṁ śākhāyeṁ’, ‘dravyameṁ guṇ’ aise ananyapanemeṁ bhī [viṣay] hotā
hai. isaliye [aisā samajhanā cāhiye ki] vyapadeś ādi, dravya–guṇoṁmeṁ vasturūpase bhed siddha nahīṁ
karate.. 46..
gāthā 47
anvayārthaḥ– [yathā] jis prakār [dhanaṁ] dhan [ca] aur [jñānaṁ] jñān [dhaninaṁ] [puruṣako]
‘dhanī’ [ca] aur [jñāninaṁ] ‘jñānī’ [karoti] karate haiṁ– [dvividhābhyām bhaṇaṁti] aise do prakārase
kahā jātā hai, [tathā] usī prakār [tattvajñāḥ] tattvajña [pr̥thaktvam] pr̥thaktva [ca api] tathā
[ekatvam] ekatvako kahate haiṁ.

ṇāṇī ṇāṇaṁ ca sadā atthaṁtaridā du aṇṇamaṇṇassa.
doṇhaṁ acedaṇattaṁ pasajadi sammaṁ jiṇāvamadaṁ.. 48..
jñānī jñānaṁ ca sadārthāṁtarite tvanyo‘nyasya.
dvayoracetanatvaṁ prasajati samyag jināvamatam.. 48..

ṭīkāḥ– yah, vasturūpase bhed aur [vasturūpase] abhedakā udāharaṇ hai.
jis prakār[1] bhinna astitvase racit, [2] bhinna saṁsthānavālā, [3] bhinna saṁkhyāvālā aur
[4] bhinna viṣayameṁ sthit aisā dhan [1] bhinna astitvase racit, [2] bhinna saṁsthānavāle, [3] bhinna
saṁkhyāvāle aur [4] bhinna viṣayameṁ sthit aise puruṣako ‘dhanī’ aisā vyapadeś pr̥thaktvaprakārase karatā

anvayārthaḥ– [jñānī] yadi jñānī [–ātmā] [ca] aur [jñānaṁ] jñān [sadā] sadā
[anyo‘nyasya] paraspar [arthāṁtarite tu] arthāṁtarabhūt [bhinnapadārthabhūt] hoṁ to [dvayoḥ] donoṁko
[acetanatvaṁ prasajati] acetanapanekā prasaṁg āye– [samyag jināvamatam] jo ki jinoṁko samyak
prakārase asaṁmat hai.

samarthatvādacetayamāno‘cetan ev syāt. jñānañca yadi jñānino‘rthāṁtarabhūtaṁ tadā tatkartraṁśamaṁtareṇ
devadattarahitaparaśuvattatkartr̥tvavyāpārāsamarthatvādacetayamānamacetanamev syāt. na ca jñānajñānino–
ryutasiddhayossaṁyogen cetanatvaṁ dravyasya nirviśeṣasya guṇānāṁ nirāśrayāṇāṁ śūnyatvāditi.. 48..

rahit devadattakī bhān̐ti, 1karaṇakā vyāpār karanemeṁ asamartha honese nahīṁ cetatā [–jānatā] huā
acetan hī hogā. aur yadi jñān jñānīse [–ātmāse] arthāntarabhūt ho to jñān apane kartr̥–aṁśake
binā, devadatta rahit kulhāṛīkī bhān̐ti, apane
2kartākā vyāpār karanemeṁ asamartha honese nahīṁ cetatā
[–jānatā] huā acetan hī hogā. punaśca, 3yutasiddha aise jñān aur jñānīko [–jñān aur
ātmāko] saṁyogase cetanapanā ho aisā bhī nahīṁ hai, kyoṁki nirviśeṣ dravya aur nirāśray guṇ śūnya
hote haiṁ.. 48..

ātmā sādhanakā vyāpār arthāt jñānakā kārya karanemeṁ asamartha honese jān nahīṁ sakegā isaliye ātmāko
acetanatva ā jāyegā.]
2. kartākā vyāpār = kartākā kārya. [jñān karaṇ haie aur ātmā kartā hai. yadi jñān ātmāse bhinna hī ho to
jñān kartākā vyāpār arthāt ātmākā kārya karanemeṁ asamartha honese jān nahīṁ sakegā isaliye jñānako
acetanapanā ā jāvegā.]
3. yutasiddha = juṛakar siddha hue; samavāyase–saṁyogase siddha hue. [jis prakār lakaṛī aur manuṣya pr̥thak hone
par bhī lakaṛīke yogase manuṣya ‘lakaṛīvālā’ hotā hai usī prakār jñān aur ātmā pr̥thak hone par bhī
jñānake sāth yukta hokar ātmā ‘jñānavālā [–jñānī]’ hotā hai aisā bhī nahīṁ hai. lakaṛī aur manuṣyakī
bhān̐ti jñān aur ātmā kabhī pr̥thak hoṁge hī kaise? viśeṣarahit dravya ho hī nahīṁ sakatā, isaliye jñān rahit
ātmā kaisā? aur āśray binā guṇ ho hī nahīṁ sakatā, isaliye ātmāke binā jñān kaisā? isaliye
‘lakaṛī’ aur ‘lakaṛīvāle’kī bhān̐ti ‘jñān’ aur ‘jñānī’kā yutasiddhapanā ghaṭit nahīṁ hotā.]

ajñānīti ca vacanamekatvaprasādhakaṁ bhavati.. 49..
jñānajñāninoḥ samavāyasaṁbaṁdhanirāso‘yam.
na khalujñānādarthāntarabhūtaḥ puruṣo jñānasamavāyāt jñānī bhavatītyupapannam. sa khalu
jñānasamavāyātpūrvaṁ kiṁ jñānī kimajñānī? yadi jñānī tadā jñānasamavāyo niṣphalaḥ. athājñānī tadā
kimajñānasamavāyāt, kimajñānen sahaikatvāt? na tāvadajñānasamavāyāt; ajñānino hyajñānasamavāyo
niṣphalaḥ, jñānitvaṁ tu jñānasamavāyābhāvānnāstyeva. tato‘jñānīti vacanamajñānen sahaikatvamavaśyaṁ

anvayārthaḥ– [jñānataḥ arthāṁtaritaḥ tu] jñānase arthāntarabhūt [saḥ] aisā vah [–ātmā]
[samavāyāt] samavāyase [jñānī] jñānī hotā hai [na hi] aisā vāstavameṁ nahīṁ hai. [ajñānī]
‘ajñānī’ [iti ca vacanam] aisā vacan [ekatvaprasādhakaṁ bhavati] [guṇ–guṇīke] ekatvako siddha
karatā hai.
ṭīkāḥ– yah, jñān aur jñānīko samavāyasambandha honekā nirākaraṇ [khaṇḍan] hai.

jñānase arthāntarabhūt ātmā jñānake samavāyase jñānī hotā hai aisā mānanā vāstavameṁ yogya nahīṁ hai.
[ātmāko jñānake samavāyase jñānī honā mānā jāye to ham pūchate haiṁ ki] vah [–ātmā] jñānakā
samavāy honese pahale vāstavameṁ jñānī hai ki ajñānī? yadi jñānī hai [aisā kahā jāye] to jñānakā
samavāy niṣphal hai. ab yadi ajñānī hai [aisā kahā jāye] to [pūchate haiṁ ki] ajñānake samavāyase
ajñānī hai ki ajñānake sāth ekatvase ajñānī hai? pratham, ajñānake samavāyase ajñānī ho nahīṁ
sakatā; kyoṁki ajñānīko ajñānakā samavāy niṣphal hai aur jñānīpanā to jñānake samavāyakā abhāv
honese hai hī nahīṁṁ. isaliye ‘ajñānī’ aisā vacan ajñānake sāth ekatvako avaśya siddha karatā hī
hai. aur is prakār ajñānake sāth ekatva siddha honese jñānake sāth bhī ekatva avaśya siddha hotā
hai.

tasmādrravyaguṇānāṁ ayutā siddhiriti nirdiṣṭā.. 50..

bhāvārthaḥ– ātmāko aur jñānako ekatva hai aisā yahān̐ yuktise samajhāyā hai.
praśnaḥ– chadmasthadaśāmeṁ jīvako mātra alpajñān hī hotā hai aur kevalīdaśāmeṁ to paripūrṇa jñān–
kevalajñān hotā hai; isaliye vahān̐ to kevalībhagavānako jñānakā samavāy [–kevalajñānakā saṁyog]
huā na?
uttaraḥ– nahīṁ, aisā nahīṁ hai. jīvako aur jñānaguṇako sadaiv ekatva hai, abhinnatā hai.
chadmasthadaśāmeṁ bhī us abhinna jñānaguṇameṁ śaktirūpase kevalajñān hotā hai. kevalīdaśāmeṁ, us abhinna
jñānaguṇameṁ śaktirūpase sthit kevalajñān vyakta hotā hai; kevalajñān kahīṁ bāharase ākar
kevalībhagavānake ātmāke sāth samavāyako prāpta hotā ho aisā nahīṁ hai. chadmasthadaśāmeṁ aur
kevalīdaśāmeṁ jo jñānakā antar dikhāī detā hai vah mātra śakti–vyaktirūp antar samajhanā cāhiye..

anvayārthaḥ– [samavartitvaṁ samavāyaḥ] samavartīpanā vah samavāy hai; [apr̥thagbhūtatvam] vahī,
apr̥thakpanā [ca] aur [ayutasiddhatvam] ayutasiddhapanā hai. [tasmāt] isaliye [dravyaguṇānām]
dravya aur guṇoṁkī [ayutā siddhiḥ iti] ayutasiddhi [nirdiṣṭā] [jinoṁne] kahī hai.
