na bhavatīti niyamo nāsti, paradravye mamatvarūpamūrcchāparigraheṇ tu niyamen bhavatyeveti ..219.. evaṁ bhāvahiṁsāvyākhyānamukhyatven pañcamasthale gāthāṣaṭaṁk gatam . iti pūrvoktakrameṇ ‘evaṁ paṇamiy siddhe’ ityādyekaviṁśatigāthābhiḥ sthalapañcakenotsargacāritravyākhyānanāmā prathamo‘ntarādhikāraḥ samāptaḥ . ataḥ paraṁ cāritrasya deśakālāpekṣayāpahr̥tasaṁyamarūpeṇāpavādavyākhyānārthaṁ pāṭhakrameṇ triṁśadgāthābhirdvitīyo- ‘ntarādhikāraḥ prārabhyate . tatra catvāri sthalāni bhavanti . tasminprathamasthale nirgranthamokṣamārga- sthāpanāmukhyatven ‘ṇa hi ṇiravekkho cāgo’ ityādi gāthāpañcakam . atra ṭīkāyāṁ gāthātrayaṁ nāsti . tadanantaraṁ sarvasāvadyapratyākhyānalakṣaṇasāmāyikasaṁyamāsamarthānāṁ yatīnāṁ saṁyamaśaucajñānopakaraṇ- nimittamapavādavyākhyānamukhyatven ‘chedo jeṇ ṇa vijjadi’ ityādi sūtratrayam . tadanantaraṁ strīnirvāṇ- nirākaraṇapradhānatven ‘pecchadi ṇa hi ih logaṁ’ ityādyekādaś gāthā bhavanti . tāśca amr̥tacandraṭīkāyāṁ na santi . tataḥ paraṁ sarvopekṣāsaṁyamāsamarthasya tapodhanasya deśakālāpekṣayā kiṁcitsaṁyamasādhakaśarīrasya
bhāvārtha : — aśuddhopayogakā asadbhāv ho, tathāpi kāyakī halanacalanādi kriyā honese parajīvoṁke prāṇoṁkā ghāt ho jātā hai . isaliye kāyaceṣṭāpūrvak paraprāṇoṁke ghātase baṁdh honekā niyam nahīṁ hai; — aśuddhopayogake sadbhāvameṁ honevāle kāyaceṣṭāpūrvak paraprāṇoṁke ghātase to baṁdh hotā hai, aur aśuddhopayogake asadbhāvameṁ honevāle kāyaceṣṭāpūrvak paraprāṇoṁke ghātase baṁdh nahīṁ hotā; isaprakār kāyaceṣṭāpūrvak honevāle paraprāṇoṁke ghātase baṁdhakā honā anaikāntik honese usake chedapanā anaikāntik hai — niyamarūp nahīṁ hai .
jaise bhāvake binā bhī paraprāṇoṁkā ghāt ho jātā hai, usīprakār bhāv na ho tathāpi parigrahakā grahaṇ ho jāy, aisā kabhī nahīṁ ho sakatā . jahān̐ parigrahakā grahaṇ hotā hai vahān̐ aśuddhopayogakā sadbhāv avaśya hotā hī hai . isaliye parigrahase baṁdhakā honā aikāṁtik – niścit – niyamarūp hai . isaliye parigrahake chedapanā aikāntik hai . aisā honese hī param śramaṇ aise arhanta bhagavantoṁne pahalese hī sarva parigrahakā tyāg kiyā hai aur anya śramaṇoṁko bhī pahalese hī sarva parigrahakā tyāg karanā cāhiye ..219..

na khalu bahiraṁsaṁgadbhāve tuṣasadbhāve taṇḍulagatāśuddhatvasyevāśuddhopayogarūp- syāntaraṁgacchedasya pratiṣedhaḥ, tadbhāve ca na śuddhopayogamūlasya kaivalyasyopalambhaḥ . ato‘śuddhop- niravadyāhārādisahakārikāraṇaṁ grāhyamiti punarapyapavādaviśeṣavyākhyānamukhyatven ‘uvayaraṇaṁ jiṇamagge’ ityādyekādaśagāthā bhavanti . atra ṭīkāyāṁ gāthācatuṣṭayaṁ nāsti . evaṁ mūlasūtrābhiprāyeṇ triṁśadgāthābhiḥ, ṭīkāpekṣayā punardvādaśagāthābhiḥ dvitīyāntarādhikāre samudāyapātanikā . tathāhi — ath bhāvaśuddhi- pūrvakabahiraṅgaparigrahaparityāge kr̥te sati abhyantaraparigrahaparityāgaḥ kr̥t ev bhavatīti nirdiśati – ṇa hi ṇiravekkho cāgo na hi nirapekṣastyāgaḥ yadi cet, parigrahatyāgaḥ sarvathā nirapekṣo na bhavati kiṁtu kimapi vastrapātrādikaṁ grāhyamiti bhavatā bhaṇyate, tarhi he śiṣya ṇa havadi bhikkhussa āsayavisuddhī na bhavati bhikṣorāśayaviśuddhiḥ, tadā sāpekṣapariṇāme sati bhikṣostapodhanasya cittaśuddhirna bhavati . avisuddhasya hi citte śuddhātmabhāvanārūpaśuddhirahitasya tapodhanasya citte manasi hi sphuṭaṁ kahaṁ tu kammakkhao vihido kathaṁ tu karmakṣayo vihitaḥ ucito, na kathamapi . anenaitaduktaṁ bhavati — yathā bahiraṅgatuṣasadbhāve sati taṇḍulasyābhyantaraśuddhiṁ kartuṁ nāyāti tathā vidyamāne vā bahiraṅgapari- grahābhilāṣe sati nirmalaśuddhātmānubhūtirūpāṁ cittaśuddhiṁ kartuṁ nāyāti . yadi punarviśiṣṭavairāgya-
ab, is upadhi (parigrah) kā niṣedh vah aṁtaraṁg chedakā hī niṣedh hai, aisā upadeś karate haiṁ : —
anvayārtha : — [nirapekṣaḥ tyāgaḥ na hi ] yadi nirapekṣa (kisī bhī vastukī apekṣārahit) tyāg na ho to [bhikṣoḥ ] bhikṣuke [āśayaviśuddhiḥ ] bhāvakī viśuddhi [na bhavati ] nahīṁ hotī; [ca ] aur [citte aviśuddhasya ] jo bhāvameṁ aviśuddha hai usake [karmakṣayaḥ ] karmakṣay [kathaṁ nu ] kaise [vihitaḥ ] ho sakatā hai ?..220..
ṭīkā : — jaise chilakeke sadbhāvameṁ cāvaloṁme pāī jānevālī (raktatārūp) aśuddhatākā tyāg (-nāś, abhāv) nahīṁ hotā, usīprakār bahiraṁg saṁgake sadbhāvameṁ

pūrvakaparigrahatyāgo bhavati tadā cittaśuddhirbhavatyev, khyātipūjālābhanimittatyāge tu na bhavati ..220.. ath tamev parigrahatyāgaṁ draḍhayati —
geṇhadi va celakhaṁḍaṁ gr̥hṇāti vā celakhaṇḍaṁ vastrakhaṇḍaṁ, bhāyaṇaṁ bhikṣābhājanaṁ vā atthi tti bhaṇidaṁ astīti bhaṇitamāste . kva . ih sutte ih vivakṣitāgamasūtre jadi yadi cet . so cattālaṁbo havadi kahaṁ nirālambanaparamātmatattvabhāvanāśūnyaḥ san sa puruṣo bahirdravyālambanarahitaḥ kathaṁ bhavati, na kathamapi; vā aṇāraṁbho niḥkriyanirārambhanijātmatattvabhāvanārahitatven nirārambho vā kathaṁ bhavati, kiṁtu sārambha ev; iti prathamagāthā . vatthakkhaṁḍaṁ duddiyabhāyaṇaṁ vastrakhaṇḍaṁ dugdhikābhājanaṁ aṇṇaṁ ca geṇhadi anyacca gr̥hṇāti kambalamr̥duśayanādikaṁ yadi cet . tadā kiṁ bhavati . ṇiyadaṁ vijjadi pāṇāraṁbho nijaśuddhacaitanya- aśuddhopayogarūp aṁtaraṁg chedakā tyāg nahīṁ hotā aur usake sadbhāvameṁ śuddhopayogamūlak kaivalya (mokṣa) kī upalabdhi nahīṁ hotī . (isase aisā kahā gayā hai ki) aśuddhopayogarūp aṁtaraṁg chedake niṣedharūp prayojanakī upekṣā rakhakar vihit (-ādeś) kiyā jānevālā upadhikā niṣedh vah antaraṁg chedakā hī niṣedh hai ..220..

upadhisadbhāve hi mamatvapariṇāmalakṣaṇāyā mūrcchāyāstadviṣayakarmaprakramapariṇāmalakṣaṇ- syārambhasya śuddhātmarūpahiṁsanapariṇāmalakṣaṇasyāsaṁyamasya vāvaśyambhāvitvāttathopadhidvitīyasya par- dravyaratatven śuddhātmadravyaprasādhakatvābhāvācca aikāntikāntaraṁgacchedatvamupadheravadhāryat ev . idamatra tātparyamevaṁvidhatvamupadheravadhārya sa sarvathā saṁnyastavyaḥ ..221.. lakṣaṇaprāṇavināśarūpo parajīvaprāṇavināśarūpo vā niyataṁ niścitaṁ prāṇārambhaḥ prāṇavadho vidyate, na kevalaṁ prāṇārambhaḥ, vikkhevo tassa cittammi avikṣiptacittaparamayogarahitasya saparigrahapuruṣasya vikṣepastasya vidyate citte manasīti . iti dvitīyagāthā . geṇhai svaśuddhātmagrahaṇaśūnyaḥ san gr̥hṇāti kimapi bahirdravyaṁ; vidhuṇai karmadhūliṁ vihāy bahiraṅgadhūliṁ vidhūnoti vināśayati; dhovai nirmalaparamātmatattvamalajanakarāgādimalaṁ vihāy bahiraṅgamalaṁ dhauti prakṣālayati; sosei jadaṁ tu ādave khittā nirvikalpadhyānātapen saṁsāranadī- śoṣaṇamakurvan śoṣayati śuṣkaṁ karoti yataṁ tu yatnaparaṁ tu yathā bhavati . kiṁ kr̥tvā . ātape nikṣipya . kiṁ tat . pattaṁ va celakhaṁḍaṁ pātraṁ vastrakhaṇḍaṁ vā . bibhedi nirbhayaśuddhātmatattvabhāvanāśūnyaḥ san bibheti bhayaṁ karoti . kasmātsakāśāt . parado ya parataścaurādeḥ . pālayadi paramātmabhāvanāṁ na pālayanna rakṣanparadravyaṁ kimapi pālayatīti tr̥tīyagāthā ..“17 – 19.. ath saparigrahasya niyamen cittaśuddhirnaśyatīti vistareṇākhyāti — kidh tamhi ṇatthi mucchā paradravyamamatvarahitaciccamatkārapariṇatervisadr̥śā mūrcchā kathaṁ
anvayārtha : — [tasmin ] upadhike sadbhāvameṁ [tasya ] us (bhikṣu) ke [mūrcchā ] mūrchā, [ārambhaḥ ] āraṁbh [vā ] yā [asaṁyamaḥ ] asaṁyam [nāsti ] na ho [kathaṁ ] yah kaise ho sakatā hai ? (kadāpi nahīṁ ho sakatā), [tathā ] tathā [paradravye rataḥ ] jo paradravyameṁ rat ho vah [ātmānaṁ ] ātmāko [kathaṁ ] kaise [prasādhayati ] sādh sakatā hai ? ..221..
ṭīkā : — upadhike sadbhāvameṁ, (1) mamatva – pariṇām jisakā lakṣaṇ hai aisī mūrchā, (2) upadhi saṁbaṁdhī 1karmaprakramake pariṇām jisakā lakṣaṇ hai aisā ārambha, athavā (3) śuddhātmasvarūpakī hiṁsārūp pariṇām jisakā lakṣaṇ hai aisā asaṁyam avaśyamev hotā hī hai; tathā upadhi jisakā dvitīy ho (arthāt ātmāse anya aisā parigrah jisane grahaṇ kiyā ho) usake paradravyameṁ ratapanā ( – līnatā) honeke kāraṇ śuddhātmadravyakī sādhakatākā abhāv hotā hai; isase upadhike aikāntik antaraṁg chedapanā niścit hotā hī hai .
yahān̐ yah tātparya hai ki — ‘upadhi aisī hai, (parigrah vah antaraṁg ched hī hai ), aisā niścit karake use sarvathā choṛanā cāhiye ..221.. 1. karmaprakram = kāmameṁ yukta honā; kāmakī vyavasthā .

ātmadravyasya dvitīyapudgaladravyābhāvātsarva evopadhiḥ pratiṣiddha ityutsargaḥ . ayaṁ tu nāsti, api tvastyev . kva . tasmin parigrahākāṅkṣitapuruṣe . āraṁbho vā manovacanakāyakriyārahit- paramacaitanyapratibandhak ārambho vā kathaṁ nāsti, kintvastyev; asaṁjamo tassa śuddhātmānubhūtivilakṣaṇā- saṁyamo vā kathaṁ nāsti, kintvastyev tasya saparigrahasya . tadh paradavvammi rado tathaiv nijātmadravyātparadravye rataḥ kadhamappāṇaṁ pasādhayadi sa tu saparigrahapuruṣaḥ kathamātmānaṁ prasādhayati, na kathamapīti ..221.. evaṁ śvetāmbaramatānusāriśiṣyasambodhanārthaṁ nirgranthamokṣamārgasthāpanamukhyatven prathamasthale gāthāpañcakaṁ gatam . ath kālāpekṣayā paramopekṣāsaṁyamaśaktyabhāve satyāhārasaṁyamaśaucajñānopakaraṇādikaṁ kimapi grāhyamityapavādamupadiśati — chedo jeṇ ṇa vijjadi chedo yen na vidyate . yenopakaraṇen śuddhopayog- lakṣaṇasaṁyamasya chedo vināśo na vidyate . kayoḥ . gahaṇavisaggesu grahaṇavisargayoḥ . yasyop- karaṇasyānyavastuno vā grahaṇe svīkāre visarjane tyāge . kiṁ kurvataḥ tapodhanasya . sevamāṇassa tadupakaraṇaṁ sevamānasya . samaṇo teṇih vaṭṭadu kālaṁ khettaṁ viyāṇittā śramaṇastenopakaraṇeneh loke vartatām . kiṁ kr̥tvā . kālaṁ kṣetraṁ ca vijñāyeti . ayamatra bhāvārthaḥ – kālaṁ pañcamakālaṁ śītoṣṇādikālaṁ vā, kṣetraṁ bharatakṣetraṁ manuṣajāṅgalādikṣetraṁ vā, vijñāy yenopakaraṇen svasaṁvittilakṣaṇabhāvasaṁyamasya bahiraṅgadravyasaṁyamasya vā chedo na bhavati ten vartat iti ..222.. ath pūrvasūtroditopakaraṇasvarūpaṁ darśayati — appaḍikuṭṭhaṁ uvadhiṁ
ab, ‘kisīke kahīṁ kabhī kisī prakār koī upadhi aniṣiddha bhī hai’ aise apavādakā upadeś karate haiṁ : —
anvayārtha : — [grahaṇavisargeṣu ] jis upadhike (āhār – nīhārādike) grahaṇ- visarjanameṁ sevan karanemeṁ [yen ] jisase [sevamānasya ] sevan karanevāleke [chedaḥ ] ched [na vidyate ] nahīṁ hotā, [ten ] us upadhiyukta, [kālaṁ kṣetraṁ vijñāy ] kāl kṣetrako jānakar, [ih ] is lokameṁ [śramaṇaḥ ] śramaṇ [vartatām ] bhale varte ..222..
te upadhi sah varto bhale muni kāḷakṣetra vijāṇīne. 222.
