athāpratiṣhiddhopadhisvarūpamupadishati
appaḍikuṭṭhan uvadhin apatthaṇijjan asañjadajaṇehin .
muchchhādijaṇaṇarahidan geṇhadu samaṇo jadi vi appan ..223..
nishchayavyavahāramokṣhamārgasahakārikāraṇatvenāpratiṣhiddhamupadhimupakaraṇarūpopadhin, apatthaṇijjan asañjadajaṇehin
aprārthanīyan nirvikārātmopalabdhilakṣhaṇabhāvasanyamarahitasyāsanyatajanasyānabhilaṣhaṇīyam,
muchchhādijaṇaṇarahidan
haiaisā utsarga (-sāmānya niyam) hai; aur vishiṣhṭa kālakṣhetrake vash koī upadhi aniṣhiddha
aisā apavād hai . jab shramaṇ sarva upadhike niṣhedhakā āshray lekar 1paramopekṣhāsanyamako
prāpta karanekā ichchhuk hone par bhī vishiṣhṭa kālakṣhetrake vash hīn shaktivālā honese use prāpta
karanemen asamartha hotā hai, tab usamen
2apakarṣhaṇ karake (anutkr̥uṣhṭa) sanyam prāpta karatā huā
usakī bahiraṅg sādhanamātra upadhikā āshray karatā hai . isaprakār jisakā āshray kiyā jātā
hai aisī vah upadhi upadhipaneke kāraṇ vāstavamen chhedarūp nahīn hai, pratyut chhedakī niṣhedharūp
(-tyāgarūp) hī hai
. jo upadhi ashuddhopayogake binā nahīn hotī vah chhed hai . kintu yah
(sanyamakī bāhyasādhanamātrabhūt upadhi) to shrāmaṇyaparyāyakī sahakārī kāraṇabhūt sharīrakī vr̥uttike
hetubhūt āhār -nīhārādike grahaṇ
visarjan (grahaṇtyāg) sambandhī chhedake niṣhedhārtha grahaṇ kī
jānese sarvathā shuddhopayog sahit hai, isaliye chhedake niṣhedharūp hī hai ..222..
ab, aniṣhiddha upadhikā svarūp kahate hain :
1. paramopekṣhāsanyam = paramupekṣhāsanyam [utsarga, nishchayanay, sarvaparityāg paramopekṣhāsanyam, vītarāg chāritra, aur
shuddhopayog;ye sab ekārthavāchī hain .]]
2. apakarṣhaṇ = hīnatā [apavād, vyavahāranay, ekadeshaparityāg, apahr̥utasanyam (alpatāhīnatāvālā sanyam)
sarāgachāritra aur shubhopayogye sab ekārthavāchī hain .]]

parigraho‘yan na nāmānugrahārhaḥ kintūpekṣhya evetyapratikarmatvamupadiṣhṭavanto bhagavanto‘rhaddevāḥ . ath
tatra shuddhātmatattvopalambhasambhāvanarasikasya punsaḥ sheṣho‘nyo‘nupāttaḥ parigraho varākaḥ kin nām
syāditi vyakta ev hi teṣhāmākūtaḥ
. ato‘vadhāryate utsarga ev vastudharmo, na punarapavādaḥ .
idamatra tātparyan, vastudharmatvātparamanairgranthyamevāvalambyam ..224..
ṇippaḍikammattamuddiṭṭhā niḥpratikarmatvamupadiṣhṭavantaḥ . shuddhopayogalakṣhaṇaparamopekṣhāsanyamabalen dehe‘pi
niḥpratikāritvan kathitavanta iti. tato gnāyate mokṣhasukhābhilāṣhiṇān nishchayen dehādisarvasaṅgaparityāg
evochito‘nyastūpachār eveti ..224.. evamapavādavyākhyānarūpeṇ dvitīyasthale gāthātrayan gatam .
athaikādashagāthāparyantan strīnirvāṇanirākaraṇamukhyatven vyākhyānan karoti . tadyathāshvetāmbaramatānusārī
shiṣhyaḥ pūrvapakṣhan karoti
pechchhadi ṇa hi ih logan paran cha samaṇindadesido dhammo .
dhammamhi tamhi kamhā viyappiyan liṅgamitthīṇan ..“20..
anvayārtha :[ath ] jab ki [jinavarendrāḥ ] jinavarendronne [apunarbhavakāminaḥ ]
mokṣhābhilāṣhīke, [saṅgaḥ iti ] ‘deh parigrah hai’ aisā kahakar [dehe api ] dehamen bhī
[apratikarmatvam ] apratikarmapanā (sanskārarahitapanā) [uddiṣhṭavantaḥ ] kahā (upadeshā) hai, tab
[kin kiñchanam iti tarkaḥ ] unakā yah (spaṣhṭa) āshay hai ki usake anya parigrah to kaise
ho sakatā hai ?

anugrahayogya nahīn, kintu upekṣhā yogya hī hai’ aisā kahakar, bhagavanta arhanntadevonne apratikarmapanekā
upadesh diyā hai, tab phi ra vahān̐ shuddhātmatattvopalabdhikī sambhāvanāke rasik puruṣhoṅke sheṣh anya
2anupātta parigrah bechārā kaise (anugrah yogya) ho sakatā hai ?aisā unakā (-arhanta devoṅkā)
āshay vyakta hī hai . isase nishchit hotā hai kiutsarga hī vastudharma hai, apavād nahīn .

uvayaraṇan jiṇamagge liṅgan jahajādarūvamidi bhaṇidan .
guruvayaṇan pi ya viṇao suttajjhayaṇan cha ṇiddiṭṭhan ..225..
pechchhadi ṇa hi ih logan niruparāganijachaitanyanityopalabdhibhāvanāvināshakan khyātipūjālābharūpan
prekṣhate na cha hi sphu ṭan ih lokam . na cha kevalamih lokan , paran cha svātmaprāptirūpan mokṣhan vihāy
svargabhogaprāptirūpan paran cha paralokan cha nechchhati . sa kaḥ . samaṇindadesido dhammo shramaṇendradeshito dharmaḥ,
jinendropadiṣhṭa ityarthaḥ . dhammamhi tamhi kamhā dharme tasmin kasmāt viyappiyan vikalpitan nirgranthaliṅgādvastra-
prāvaraṇen pr̥uthakkr̥utam . kim . liṅgan sāvaraṇachihnam . kāsān sambandhi . itthīṇan strīṇāmiti
pūrvapakṣhagāthā ..“20.. ath parihāramāh
ṇichchhayado itthīṇan siddhī ṇa hi teṇ jammaṇā diṭṭhā .
tamhā tappaḍirūvan viyappiyan liṅgamitthīṇan ..“21..
ṇichchhayado itthīṇan siddhī ṇa hi teṇ jammaṇā diṭṭhā nishchayataḥ strīṇān narakādigativilakṣhaṇānanta-
sukhādiguṇasvabhāvā tenaiv janmanā siddhirna draṣhṭā, na kathitā . tamhā tappaḍirūvan tasmātkāraṇāttatpratiyogyan
sāvaraṇarūpan viyappiyan liṅgamitthīṇan nirgranthaliṅgātpr̥uthaktven vikalpitan kathitan liṅgan prāvaraṇasahitan chihnam .
kāsām . strīṇāmiti ..“21.. ath strīṇān mokṣhapratibandhakan pramādabāhulyan darshayati
paiḍīpamādamaiyā edāsin vitti bhāsiyā pamadā .
tamhā tāo pamadā pamādabahulā tti ṇiddiṭṭhā ..“22..
paiḍīpamādamaiyā prakr̥utyā svabhāven pramāden nirvr̥uttā pramādamayī . kā kartrī bhavati . edāsin
vitti . etāsān strīṇān vr̥uttiḥ pariṇatiḥ . bhāsiyā pamadā tat ev nāmamālāyān pramadāḥ pramadāsañgnā
bhāṣhitāḥ striyaḥ . tamhā tāo pamadā yat ev pramadāsañgnāstāḥ striyaḥ, tasmāttat ev pamādabahulā tti
ṇiddiṭṭhā niḥpramādaparamātmatattvabhāvanāvināshakapramādabahulā iti nirdiṣhṭāḥ ..“22.. ath tāsān mohādi-
bāhulyan darshayati
santi dhuvan pamadāṇan mohapadosā bhayan duguñchhā ya .
chitte chittā māyā tamhā tāsin ṇa ṇivvāṇan ..“23..
ab, apavādake kaunase visheṣh (bhed) hain, so kahate hain :
janmyā pramāṇe rūp bhākhyun upakaraṇ jinamārgamān,
guruvachan ne sūtrādhyayan, vaḷī vinay paṇ upakaraṇamān. 225

upakaraṇan jinamārge liṅgan yathājātarūpamiti bhaṇitam .
guruvachanamapi cha vinayaḥ sūtrādhyayanan cha nirdiṣhṭam ..225..
santi dhuvan pamadāṇan santi vidyante dhruvan nishchitan pramadānān strīṇām . ke te . mohapadosā bhayan duguñchhā
ya mohādirahitānantasukhādiguṇasvarūpamokṣhakāraṇapratibandhakāḥ mohapradveṣhabhayaduguñchhāpariṇāmāḥ, chitte chittā
māyā kauṭilyādirahitaparamabodhādipariṇateḥ pratipakṣhabhūtā chitte manasi chitrā vichitrā māyā, tamhā tāsin
ṇa ṇivvāṇan tat ev tāsāmavyābādhasukhādyanantaguṇādhārabhūtan nirvāṇan nāstītyabhiprāyaḥ ..“23.. athaitadev
draḍhayati
ṇa viṇā vaṭṭadi ṇārī ekkan vā tesu jīvaloyamhi .
ṇa hi sanuḍan cha gattan tamhā tāsin cha samvaraṇan ..“24..
ṇa viṇā vaṭṭadi ṇārī na vinā vartate nārī ekkan vā tesu jīvaloyamhi teṣhu nirdoṣhi-
paramātmadhyānavighātakeṣhu pūrvoktadoṣheṣhu madhye jīvaloke tvekamapi doṣhan vihāy ṇa hi sanuḍan cha gattan na
hi sphu ṭan samvr̥uttan gātran cha sharīran, tamhā tāsin cha samvaraṇan tat ev cha tāsān samvaraṇan vastrāvaraṇan kriyat
iti ..“24.. ath punarapi nirvāṇapratibandhakadoṣhāndarshayati
chittassāvo tāsin sitthillan attavan cha pakkhalaṇan .
vijjadi sahasā tāsu a uppādo suhamamaṇuāṇan ..“25..
vijjadi vidyate tāsu a tāsu cha strīṣhu . kim . chittassāvo chittasravaḥ, niḥkāmātmatattva-
samvittivināshakachittasya kāmodrekeṇ sravo rāgasārdrabhāvaḥ, tāsin tāsān strīṇān, sitthillan shithilasya
bhāvaḥ shaithilyan, tadbhavamuktiyogyapariṇāmaviṣhaye chittadāḍharyābhāvaḥ sattvahīnapariṇām ityarthaḥ, attavan cha
pakkhalaṇan
r̥utau bhavamārtavan praskhalanan raktasravaṇan,
sahasā jhaṭiti, māse māse dinatrayaparyantan
chittashuddhivināshako raktasravo bhavatītyarthaḥ, uppādo suhamamaṇuāṇan utpād utpattiḥ sūkṣhmalabdhyaparyāpta-
manuṣhyāṇāmiti ..““

liṅgamhi ya itthīṇan thaṇantare ṇāhikakkhapadesesu .
bhaṇido suhumuppādo tāsin kah sañjamo hodi ..“26..
liṅgamhi ya itthīṇan thaṇantare ṇāhikakkhapadesesu strīṇān liṅge yonipradeshe, stanāntare, nābhipradeshe,
kakṣhapradeshe cha, bhaṇido suhumuppādo eteṣhu sthāneṣhu sūkṣhmamanuṣhyādijīvotpādo bhaṇitaḥ . ete pūrvoktadoṣhāḥ
gāthā : 225 anvayārtha :[yathājātarūpan ligan ] yathājātarūp (-janmajāt
nagna) jo liṅg vah [jinmārge ] jinamārgamen [upakaraṇan iti bhaṇitam ] upakaraṇ kahā gayā

yo hi nāmāpratiṣhiddho‘sminnupadhirapavādaḥ, sa khalu nikhilo‘pi shrāmaṇyaparyāy-
sahakārikāraṇatvenopakārakārakatvādupakaraṇabhūt ev, na punaranyaḥ . tasya tu visheṣhāḥ sarvāhārya-
varjitasahajarūpāpekṣhitayathājātarūpatven bahiraṅgaliṅgabhūtāḥ kāyapudgalāḥ, shrūyamāṇatatkālabodhak-
puruṣhāṇān kin na bhavantīti chet . evan na vaktavyan, strīṣhu bāhulyen bhavanti . na chāstitvamātreṇ
samānatvam . ekasya viṣhakaṇikāsti, dvitīyasya cha viṣhaparvato‘sti, kin samānatvan bhavati . kintu
puruṣhāṇān prathamasanhananabalen doṣhavināshako muktiyogyavisheṣhasanyamo‘sti . tāsin kah sañjamo hodi tataḥ
kāraṇāttāsān kathan sanyamo bhavatīti ..“26.. ath strīṇān tadbhavamuktiyogyān sakalakarmanirjarān
niṣhedhayati
jadi dansaṇeṇ suddhā suttajjhayaṇeṇ chāvi sañjuttā .
ghoran charadi va chariyan itthissa ṇa ṇijjarā bhaṇidā ..“27..
jadi dansaṇeṇ suddhā yadyapi darshanen samyaktven shuddhā, suttajjhayaṇe chāvi sañjuttā ekādashāṅga-
sūtrādhyayanenāpi sanyuktā, ghoran charadi va chariyan ghoran pakṣhopavāsamāsopavāsādi charati vā chāritran, itthissa
ṇa ṇijjarā bhaṇidā tathāpi strījanasya tadbhavakarmakṣhayayogyā sakalanirjarā na bhaṇiteti bhāvaḥ . kiñch yathā
prathamasanhananābhāvātstrī saptamanarakan na gachchhati, tathā nirvāṇamapi . ‘‘pumvedan vedantā purisā je
khavagaseḍhimārūḍhā . sesodayeṇ vi tahā jhāṇuvajuttā ya te du sijjhanti’’ iti gāthākathitārthābhiprāyeṇ
bhāvastrīṇān kathan nirvāṇamiti chet . tāsān bhāvastrīṇān prathamasanhananamasti, dravyastrīvedābhāvāttadbhavamokṣha-
pariṇāmapratibandhakatīvrakāmodreko‘pi nāsti . dravyastrīṇān prathamasanhananan nāstīti kasminnāgame
kathitamāsta iti chet . tatrodāharaṇagāthā‘‘antimatigasaṅghaḍaṇan ṇiyameṇ ya kammabhūmimahilāṇan .
ādimatigasaṅghaḍaṇan ṇatthi tti jiṇehin ṇiddiṭṭhan’’.. ath matamyadi mokṣho nāsti tarhi bhavadīyamate
kimarthamarjikānān mahāvratāropaṇam . parihāramāhtadupachāreṇ kulavyavasthānimittam . na chopachāraḥ
sākṣhādbhavitumarhati, agnivat krūro‘yan devadatta ityādivat . tathāchoktammukhyābhāve sati prayojane
nimitte chopachāraḥ pravartate . kintu yadi tadbhave mokṣho bhavati strīṇān tarhi shatavarṣhadīkṣhitāyā arjikāyā
adyadine dīkṣhitaḥ sādhuḥ kathan vandyo bhavati . saiv prathamataḥ kin na vandyā bhavati sādhoḥ . kintu bhavanmate
ṭīkā :isamen jo aniṣhiddha upadhi apavād hai, vah sabhī vāstavamen aisā hī
hai ki jo shrāmaṇyaparyāyake sahakārī kāraṇake rūpamen upakār karanevālā honese upakaraṇabhūt
hai, dūsarā nahīn
. usake visheṣh (bhed) isaprakār hain :(1) sarva āhārya rahit sahajarūpase
apekṣhit (sarva āhārya rahit) yathājātarūpapaneke kāraṇ jo bahiraṅg liṅgabhūt hain aise

yadi mallitīrthakaro vānyaḥ ko‘pi vā strī bhūtvā nirvāṇan gataḥ tarhi strīrūpapratimārādhanā kin na kriyate
bhavadbhiḥ
. yadi pūrvoktadoṣhāḥ santi strīṇān tarhi sītārukmiṇīkuntīdraupadīsubhadrāprabhr̥utayo jinadīkṣhān
gr̥uhītvā vishiṣhṭatapashcharaṇen kathan ṣhoḍashasvarge gatā iti chet . parihāramāhtatra doṣho nāsti,
tasmātsvargādāgatya puruṣhaveden mokṣhan yāsyantyagre . tadbhavamokṣho nāsti, bhavāntare bhavatu, ko doṣh iti .
idamatra tātparyamsvayam vastusvarūpamev gnātavyan, paran prati vivādo na kartavyaḥ . kasmāt . vivāde
rāgadveṣhotpattirbhavati, tatashcha shuddhātmabhāvanā nashyatīti ..“27.. athopasanhārarūpeṇ sthitapakṣhan darshayati
tamhā tan paḍirūvan liṅgan tāsin jiṇehin ṇiddiṭṭhan .

vastraprāvaraṇasahitan liṅgan chihnan lāñchhanan tāsān strīṇān jinavaraiḥ sarvagnairnirdiṣhṭan kathitam . kularūvavaojuttā
samaṇīo lokaduguñchhārahitatven jinadīkṣhāyogyan kulan bhaṇyate, antaraṅganirvikārachittashuddhignāpakan
bahiraṅganirvikāran rūpan bhaṇyate, sharīrabhaṅgarahitan vā atibālavr̥uddhabuddhivaikalyarahitan vayo bhaṇyate, taiḥ
kularūpavayobhiryuktāḥ kularūpavayoyuktā bhavanti
. kāḥ . shramaṇyo‘rjikāḥ . punarapi kimvishiṣhṭāḥ .
tassamāchārā tāsān strīṇān yogyastadyogya āchārashāstravihitaḥ samāchār āchār ācharaṇan yāsān
tāstatsamāchārā iti ..“28.. athedānīn puruṣhāṇān dīkṣhāgrahaṇe varṇavyavasthān kathayati
kāyapudgal; (2) jinakā shravaṇ kiyā jātā hai aise 1tatkālabodhak, guru dvārā kahe jāne
par 2ātmatattvadyotak, 3siddha upadesharūp vachanapudgal; tathā (3) jinakā adhyayan kiyā
jātā hai aise, nityabodhak, anādinidhan shuddha ātmatattvako prakāshit karanemen samartha
shrutagnānake sādhanabhūt shabdātmak sūtrapudgal; aur (4) shuddha ātmatattvako vyakta karanevālī
jo darshanādik paryāyen, unarūpase pariṇamit puruṣhake prati
vinītatākā abhiprāy pravartit

honese nityabodhak kahe gaye hain, guruvachan upadeshkālamen hī bodhake nimittabhūt honese tatkālabodhak kahe

vishuddhagnānadarshanasvabhāvanijaparamātmatattvasamyakshraddhāgnānānuṣhṭhānarūpo yo‘sau nishchayaratnatrayasvabhāvastasya
vināshaḥ sa ev nishchayen nāsho bhaṅgo jinavarairnirdiṣhṭaḥ
. sesan bhaṅgeṇ puṇo sheṣhabhaṅgen punaḥ

uparokta chār bhed hain .)
yahān̐ aisā tātparya hai ki kāyakī bhān̐ti vachan aur man bhī vastudharma nahīn hai .
bhāvārtha :jis shramaṇakī shrāmaṇyaparyāyake sahakārī kāraṇabhūt, sarva kr̥utrimatāonse
rahit yathājātarūpake sammukh vr̥utti jāye, use kāyakā parigrah hai; jis shramaṇakī guruupadeshake
shravaṇamen vr̥utti ruke, use vachanapudgaloṅkā parigrah hai; jis shramaṇakī sūtrādhyayanamen vr̥utti ruke
usake sūtrapudgaloṅkā parigrah hai; aur jis shramaṇake yogya puruṣhake vinayarūp pariṇām hon usake
manake pudgaloṅkā parigrah hai
. yadyapi vah parigrah upakaraṇabhūt hain, isaliye apavādamārgamen unakā

kāraṇ
yukta (-yogya) nahīn hai; aur (2) usakā sevan karanevālā antaraṅg ashuddhi pūrvak

svakīyāvasthāyogyam . kathan yathā bhavati . mūlachchhedo jadhā ṇa havadi mūlachchhedo yathā na bhavati . sa kaḥ
kartā charati . bālo vā vuḍḍho vā samabhihado vā puṇo gilāṇo vā bālo vā, vr̥uddho vā, shrameṇābhihataḥ pīḍitaḥ

isase (aisā kahā hai ki) sarvathā (sarvaprakārase) utsarga aur apavādakī maitrī dvārā

bālavr̥uddhashrāntaglānatvānurodhenāhāravihārayoḥ pravartamānasya mr̥udvācharaṇapravr̥uttatvādalpa ev lepo
bhavati, tadvaramapavādaḥ
. deshakālagnasyāpi bālavr̥uddhashrāntaglānatvānurodhenāhāravihārayoralpalep-
niṣhedhayanshchāritrarakṣhaṇāy vyatirekadvāreṇ tamevārthan draḍhayativaṭṭadi vartate pravartate . sa kaḥ kartā . samaṇo
shatrumitrādisamachittaḥ shramaṇaḥ . yadi kim . jadi appalevī so yadi chedalpalepī stokasāvadyo bhavati .
kayorviṣhayayorvartate . āhāre va vihāre tapodhanayogyāhāravihārayoḥ . kin kr̥utvā pūrvan . jāṇittā gnātvā .
kān . te tān karmatāpannān; desan kālan saman khaman uvadhin deshan, kālan, mārgādishraman, kṣhamān
kṣhamatāmupavāsādiviṣhaye shaktin , upadhin bālavr̥uddhashrāntaglānasambandhinan sharīramātropadhin parigrahamiti pañcha
deshādīn tapodhanācharaṇasahakāribhūtāniti
. tathāhipūrvakathitakrameṇ tāvaddurdharānuṣhṭhānarūpotsarge vartate;
tatra cha prāsukāhārādigrahaṇanimittamalpalepan draṣhṭavā yadi na pravartate tadā ārtadhyānasaṅkleshen sharīratyāgan
anvayārtha :[yadi ] yadi [shramaṇaḥ ] shramaṇ [āhāre vā vihāre ] āhār
athavā vihāramen [deshan ] desh, [kālan ] kāl, [shraman ] shram, [kṣhamān ] 1kṣhamatā tathā
[upadhin ] upadhi, [tān gnātvā ] inako jānakar [vartate ] pravarte [saḥ alpalepī ] to vah
alpalepī hotā hai

ṭīkā :kṣhamatā tathā glānatākā hetu upavās hai aur bāl tathā vr̥uddhatvakā adhiṣhṭhān
upadhisharīr hai, isaliye yahān̐ (ṭīkāmen) bālvr̥uddhashrāntglān hī liye gaye hain . (arthāt
mūl gāthāmen jo kṣhamā, upadhi ityādi shabda hain unakā āshay khīñchakar ṭīkāmen ‘bāl, vr̥uddha,
shrānt, glān’ shabda hī prayukta kiye gaye hain)

2deshakālagnako bhī, yadi vah bālvr̥uddhashrāntglānatvake anurodhase (arthāt bālatva,
vr̥uddhatva, shrāntatva athavā glānatvakā anusaraṇ karake) āhārvihāramen pravr̥utti kare to mr̥udu
ācharaṇamen pravr̥utta honese alpa lep hotā hī hai, (-lepakā sarvathā abhāv nahīn hotā), isaliye
utsarga achchhā hai

deshakālagnako bhī, yadi vah bālvr̥uddhashrāntglānatvake anurodhase āhārvihāramen
pravr̥utti kare to mr̥udu ācharaṇamen pravr̥utta honese alpa hī lep hotā hai . (-visheṣh lep nahīn hotā),
isaliye apavād achchhā hai .
