asaṁyatasya ca yathoditātmatattvapratītirūpaṁ śraddhānaṁ yathoditātmatattvānubhūtirūpaṁ jñānaṁ vā kiṁ kuryāt . tataḥ saṁyamaśūnyāt śraddhānāt jñānādvā nāsti siddhiḥ . at āgamajñānatattvārtha- śraddhānasaṁyatatvānāmayaugapadyasya mokṣamārgatvaṁ vighaṭetaiv ..237..
athāgamajñānatattvārthaśraddhānasaṁyatatvānāṁ yaugapadye‘pyātmajñānasya mokṣamārgasādhakatamatvaṁ dyotayati —
śraddhānajñānasahito‘pi pauruṣasthānīyacāritrabalen rāgādivikalparūpādasaṁyamādyadi na nivartate tadā tasya śraddhānaṁ jñānaṁ vā kiṁ kuryāt, na kimapīti . ataḥ etadāyāti – paramāgamajñānatattvārthaśraddhānasaṁyatatvānāṁ madhye dvayenaiken vā nirvāṇaṁ nāsti, kiṁtu trayeṇeti ..237.. evaṁ bhedābhedaratnatrayātmakamokṣamārga- sthāpanamukhyatven dvitīyasthale gāthācatuṣṭayaṁ gatam . kiṁc bahirātmāvasthāntarātmāvasthāparamātmāvasthā- mokṣāvasthātrayaṁ tiṣṭhati . avasthātraye‘nugatākāraṁ dravyaṁ tiṣṭhati . evaṁ parasparasāpekṣadravyaparyāyātmako jīvapadārthaḥ. tatra mokṣakāraṇaṁ cintyate . mithyātvarāgādirūpā bahirātmāvasthā tāvadaśuddhā, muktikāraṇaṁ ātmatattvakī pratītirūp śraddhān yā yathokta ātmatattvakī anubhūtirūp jñān kyā karegā ? isaliye saṁyamaśūnya śraddhānase yā jñānase siddhi nahīṁ hotī .
isase āgamajñān – tattvārthaśraddhān – saṁyatattvake ayugapatpaneko mokṣamārgapanā ghaṭit nahīṁ hotā ..237..
ab, āgamajñān – tattvārthaśraddhān – saṁyatattvakā yugapatpanā hone par bhī, ātmajñān mokṣamārgakā sādhakatam (utkr̥ṣṭa sādhak) hai aisā samajhāte haiṁ : —
anvayārtha : — [yat karma ] jo karma [ajñānī ] ajñānī [bhavaśatasahasrakoṭibhiḥ ] lakṣakoṭi bhavoṁmeṁ [kṣapayati ] khapātā hai, [tat ] vah karma [jñānī ] jñānī [tribhiḥ guptaḥ ] tīn prakār (man – vacan – kāy) se gupta honese [ucchvāsamātreṇ ] ucchvāsamātrameṁ [kṣapayati ] khapā detā hai ..238..
