yo hi pareṣāṁ śuddhātmavr̥ttitrāṇābhiprāyeṇ vaiyāvr̥ttyapravr̥ttyā svasya saṁyamaṁ virādhayati, sa gr̥hasthadharmānupraveśāt śrāmaṇyāt pracyavate . ato yā kācan pravr̥ttiḥ sā sarvathā saṁyamāvirodhenaiv vidhātavyā; pravr̥ttāvapi saṁyamasyaiv sādhyatvāt ..250.. kuṇadi kāyakhedaṁ vejjāvaccatthamujjado yadi cet karoti kāyakhedaṁ ṣaṭakāyavirādhanām . kathaṁbhūtaḥ san . vaiyāvr̥ttyārthamudyataḥ . samaṇo ṇa havadi tadā śramaṇastapodhano na bhavati . tarhi kiṁ bhavati . havadi agārī agārī gr̥hastho bhavati . kasmāt . dhammo so sāvayāṇaṁ se ṣaṭakāyavirādhanāṁ kr̥tvā yo‘sau dharmaḥ sa śrāvakāṇāṁ syāt, na ca tapodhanānāmiti . idamatra tātparyam – yo‘sau svaśarīrapoṣaṇārthaṁ śiṣyādimohen vā sāvadyaṁ necchati tasyedaṁ vyākhyānaṁ śobhate, yadi punaranyatra sāvadyamicchati vaiyāvr̥ttyādisvakīyāv- sthāyogye dharmakārye necchati tadā tasya samyaktvamev nāstīti ..250.. ath yadyapyalpalepo bhavati
ab, pravr̥tti saṁyamakī virodhī honekā niṣedh karate haiṁ (arthāt śubhopayogī śramaṇake saṁyamake sāth virodhavālī pravr̥tti nahīṁ honī cāhiye – aisā kahate haiṁ ) : —
anvayārtha : — [yadi ] yadi (śramaṇ) [vaiyāvr̥tyartham udyataḥ ] vaiyāvr̥ttike liye udyamī vartatā huā [kāyakhedaṁ ] chah kāyako pīṛit [karoti ] karatā hai to vah [śramaṇaḥ na bhavati ] śramaṇ nahīṁ hai, [agārī bhavati ] gr̥hastha hai; (kyoṁki) [saḥ ] vah (chah kāyakī virādhanā sahit vaiyāvr̥tti) [śrāvakāṇāṁ dharmaḥ syāt ] śrāvakoṁkā dharma hai ..250..
ṭīkā : — jo (śramaṇ) dūsareke śuddhātmapariṇatikī rakṣā ho aise abhiprāyase vaiyāvr̥tyakī pravr̥tti karatā huā apane saṁyamakī virādhanā karatā hai, vah gr̥hasthadharmameṁ praveś kar rahā honese śrāmaṇyase cyut hotā hai . isase (aisā kahā hai ki) jo bhī pravr̥tti ho vah sarvathā saṁyamake sāth virodh na āye isaprakār hī karanī cāhiye, kyoṁki pravr̥ttimeṁ bhī saṁyam hī sādhya hai .
