shlokArtha : — [tathApi ] tathApi (arthAt lok Adi kAraNo.nse bandha nahI.n kahA aur rAgAdik se hI bandha ka hA hai tathApi) [j~nAninA.n nirargala.n charitum na iShyate ] j~nAniyo.nko nirargal (svachChandatApUrvak) pravartanA yogya nahI.n hai, [sA nirargalA vyApR^itiH kil tad-Ayatanam ev ] kyo.nki vah nirargal pravartan vAstavame.n bandhakA hI sthAn hai . [j~nAninA.n akAm-kR^it-karma tat akAraNam matam ] j~nAniyo.nke vA.NChArahit karma (kArya) hotA hai vah bandhakA kAraN nahI.n ka hA, kyo.nki [jAnAti cha karoti ] jAnatA bhI hai aur (ka rmako ) ka ratA bhI hai — [dvaya.n kimu na hi virudhyate ] yah dono.n kriyAe.N kyA virodharUp nahI.n hai.n ? bhAvArtha : — pahale kAvyame.n lok Adiko bandhakA kAraN nahI.n kahA, isalie vahA.N yah nahI.n samajhanA chAhie ki bAhyavyavahArapravR^ittikA bandhake kAraNo.nme.n sarvathA hI niShedh kiyA hai; bAhyavyavahArapravR^itti rAgAdi pariNAmakI — bandhake kAraNakI — nimittabhUt hai, us nimittakA yahA.N niShedh nahI.n samajhanA chAhie . j~nAniyo.nke abuddhipUrvak — vA.NChA rahit — pravR^itti hotI hai, isaliye bandha nahI.n kahA hai, unhe.n kahI.n svachChanda hokar pravartaneko nahI.n ka hA hai; kyo.nki maryAdA rahit (nira.nkush) pravartanA to bandhakA hI kAraN hai . jAnaneme.n aur karaneme.n to paraspar virodh hai; j~nAtA rahegA to bandha nahI.n hogA, kartA hogA to avashya bandha hogA .166.
