shlokArtha : — [yaH jAnAti saH na karoti ] jo jAnatA hai so ka ratA nahI.n [tu ] aur [yaH karoti aya.n khalu jAnAti na ] jo ka ratA hai so jAnatA nahI.n . [tat kil karmarAgaH ] ka ranA to vAstavame.n ka rmarAg hai [tu ] aur [rAga.n abodhamayam adhyavasAyam AhuH ] rAgako (muniyo.nne) aj~nAnamay adhyavasAy ka hA hai; [saH niyata.n mithyAdR^ishaH ] jo ki vah (aj~nAnamay adhyavasAy) niyamase mithyAdR^iShTike hotA hai [cha ] aur [saH bandhahetuH ] vah bandhakA kAraN hai .167.

gAthArtha : — [yaH ] jo [manyate ] yah mAnatA hai ki [hinasmi cha ] ‘mai.n par jIvo.nko mAratA hU.N [paraiH sattvaiH hi.nsye cha ] aur par jIv mujhe mArate hai.n ’, [saH ] vah [mUDhaH ] mUDh ( – mohI) hai, [aj~nAnI ] aj~nAnI hai, [tu ] aur [ataH viparItaH ] isase viparIt (jo aisA nahI.n mAnatA vah) [j~nAnI ] j~nAnI hai .
TIkA : — ‘mai.n par jIvo.nko mAratA hU.N aur par jIv mujhe mArate hai.n ’ — aisA 1adhyavasAy dhruvarUpase ( – niyamase, nishchayataH) aj~nAn hai . vah adhyavasAy jisake hai vah aj~nAnIpaneke kAraN mithyAdR^iShTi hai; aur jisake vah adhyavasAy nahI.n hai vah j~nAnIpaneke kAraN samyagdR^iShTi hai .
