A Thesis On Jainism
Pandit F. K. Lalan invites a thesis in English on ' Jainism'
and declares that he will donate through the Jain swadhyay
Mandir, Songad Rs. 300 to the person who gets the first number
and Rs. 200 to the person who gets the second number on the
following conditions:-
1. The thesis must clearly deal with following subjects:-
(a) Jainism is not a sectarian view but propounds the true state
of affairs of all the objects of the universe,
(b) The principle of Anekanta and Syadvad,
(c) The principle of true (Nishchaya) and conventional
(Vyavahara) view-points,
(d) Upadana (real) causeand Nimit (not real but a mere
conventional) cause,
(e) Substances, attributes and conditions (द्रव्य गुण–पर्याय),
(f) Each substance is doing its own action independently
without the help or assistance of any substance. the
principle may be termed (कर्तृत्व) law of action,
(g) Each substance changes its condition every moment in
regular sequence (क्रमबद्ध पर्याय) so as to include five
samavayas, at the same time.
2. The thesis must contain foolscap pages 75 in the least
either written or typewritten on one side.
3. The thesis must be based on the principles propounded by
Bhagwan shri Kundakundacharya Deva and explained by Maharaj
Shri Kanji Swami at Songad.
4. If any writer desires to listen to the lectures of Maharaj Shri
Kanji Swami at Songad, arrangements will be made for them.
5. Literature on this subject may be had from Songad on
payment.
6. The Swadhyaya Mandir Trust will examine the thesis and
declare its result. Its decision will be final.
7. The thesis must reach the Jain Swadhyaya Mandir by 31
December 1948.
